  1. If Reigns is going for the title next month, who does that leave for a potential Survivor Series match with the Wyatts? The only people coming to mind offhand would be The Dudleys.
  2. I'd completely forgotten about John's preference for the gang rape. If I had the choice, I'd probably prefer voting for this match. Akiyama throws everything at Misawa that he can think of, but Misawa comes back to win. That's not unusual in the least, that pretty much sums up the latter portion of Misawa's career. But, this is a case where it works, because Akiyama brings a ton of offense with him, and Misawa adds a bunch of little touches that make the whole thing come together pretty well. There are tons of better Misawa performances to be sure, but, this is still a serious step up for Akiyama.
  3. The newest WCW Timeline edition: 1985 with Magnum TA is a solid interview, but it's pretty low-key compared to the Cornette and Bischoff editions. Of course, even though it happened in '86, they talk about the accident. Magnum even doubts that he was going to win the strap from Flair at Starrcade. He figures that he'd have worked Nikita, or continued the angle with Jimmy Garvin.
  4. I reviewed ROH Final Battle 2014. Holy crap,it's almost godawful from start to to finish.
  5. That reminds of one of the early Nitro's when he used the airport line, and said the pilot asked him if Sting could trust Luger. "I said 'Hey Sky-King, you just fly this plane. Let Sting worry about Luger.' "
  6. But, he never went by the name Tom Zenk, only the "Z-Man" - so what's the York Foundation going to call him?
  7. The Tiger Driver '91 kick out didn't bother me too much, because they'd already set that precedent in '97, with the idea that Kobashi used every last bit of strength to kick out of that, and it allows Misawa to put him away with the running elbow. I wasn't a huge fan of the idea, but, at least it had some foundation to it. But, the head drop overkill and Misawa's inconsistent selling is what ruined this for me.
  8. If Cole won, then I'd have taken O'Reilly in the main event. But, now Lethal seems like a lock.
  9. When I was seven or eight years old, probably 1990 or 91. I had a dream that I got to randomly hang out with the Four Horsemen. Childhood Mike's version of this, is literally just talking to them casually, nothing like what it would have been like to hang out with them for real during those day.
  10. Stephen Wright?
  11. Or "The Midnight Express"
  12. The 1/13/97 Nitro, probably most famous for DDP's full babyface turn, has a nice little bonus feature. They show the entire Hogan/Giant main event, which "aired" during the commercial breaks the premier of TNT's new Robin Hood TV series.
  13. That's makes three of us. I watched it as a little tyke, because my father, grandfather, and uncles were all big wrestling fans. They all eventually moved away from it, but, I never did, and, and here I am at almost thirty three years old, and i'm still watching it.
  14. I just commented in my review of EVOLVE 47, that I wished someone could coax Zangiev out of retirement to challenge Thatcher.
  15. They finally uploaded Nitro #103 from Labor Day '97, with the awesome video package and dedication to the recently retired Arn Anderson.
  16. Buzz Sawyer takes a bump that would make Curt Hennig say "That's a bit much!"
  17. Cesaro - He's proven more than once that he can get himself over if given the chance. But, whenever a chance comes up, they yank the rug from under him. Kevin Owens - if he can stay healthy then he seems like a sure thing. Sami Zayn - The Shawn to KO's Bret. Once again, if he can stay healthy.
  18. I've been hearing Timothy Thatcher get pimped around these parts for ages. I think I'll drop the $15 and check out Evolve 47. I haven't seen an Evolve show since Evolve 2 five years ago.
  19. Any idea how long Ryback is out for? I could see them maybe subbing Cesaro into the 3 way tomorrow and putting the IC title on him.
  20. "I don't recall the details" That actually nicely sums up what I've seen of this so far. Eric prefaces nearly every answer with some form of the quoted comment. Granted, it's 21 years ago. And, the questions used aren't really about wrestling and angles all that much.
  21. I wonder if there will be any talk of Missy Hyatt or the lawsuit, wasn't that in '94?
  22. Because I also refused to let the subject die. I asked Jim on the podcast about the existence of such a match. He says he doesn't remember for sure, since it's been almost thirty years. But, he seems to recall him and JR doing commentary on a Ding Dongs match.
  23. The DA debut wasn't bad at all, four matches in a one hour show is nice to see. None of the matches blew me away, although I did enjoy the Whitmer/Moose/Colby angle.
  24. Very sad news. The Fantastics were one of the best teams, and most underrated, of the 1980's.
  25. The Freebirds story was awesome stuff, especially when it came to a head in the six man tag with Doc. I was really impressed with how composed he was, he was far from the Cornette we're all used to, going off on profanity ridden tangents. He only mentions Herd a few times, and while he's far from kind to him, he's much nicer than you'd expect, aside from the funny impersonation.
