  1. I agree with almost everything Parv said about this. It's horrible that the build of this wasn't good at all cause those two raised their games and put on a great main event. The finish shocked me but the psychology of back giving out made it acceptable. If two guys from the undercard had a match like that in the main event, they would automatically become top stars. However, I still feel like what I said in the WWE weekly thread a week or two ago hold true in that this match feels more like something WWE will use for PR for women in the company instead of actually making Sasha and Charlotte top stars in WWE.
  2. Depends on what you like in your wrestling. Can't give a list of matches cause I'm at work but I guessing other people will chime in.
  3. She also has a lot of experience as an ace getting matches out of people that they would otherwise have no business having. That will come in handy dealing with the high variance of experience levels amongst the women that go through NXT / WWE. Who's next amongst the indie women who frequent Stardom to go to NXT full-time? It seems like if they wanted Santana Garrett by now, they would've taken her. Kay Lee Ray has the chops in the ring, but she doesn't have the look they want. Heidi Lovelace was at the last tryout, but I don't know if she was signed. I'd really like to see Evie end up in WWE eventually, or at least go back to Stardom for a tour. And I would imagine that Toni Storm will end up there at some point after she's done with Stardom. We probably see more Tessa Blanchard if she doesn't get picked up. Thea Trinidad is going on an upcoming tour and she did a TV match with Asuka.
  4. The Sendai Girls show is basically a two match show cause they cut a lot from the undercard matches. I had the tag match at ***1/2 and the main event at ****. Hashimoto is still raw but she can hang in a main event. Scary spot towards the end of the match where Hashimoto did a German right on Meiko's head. The ref looked afraid as he was trying to stop her cause Meiko was holding her neck. He literally told her to stop and cover at one point.
  5. The Stardom office was trying to say that the piledriver from the apron wasn't what caused her last concussion, but it's hard to shake that feeling when you watch it. It's funny cause on the SamuraiTV version of the 5 Star GP, the showed that spot as one of the reasons why she was out.
  6. The build up to this should've been fleshed out more. Their feud hasn't warranted HIAC yet. If this was the plan, they should've had Dana cost Sasha the title match at the Raw in LA which gives them a reason to book HIAC to keep her out. The heat for this match would be ten times bigger if Sasha was coming into her hometown as Challenger. This has been thrown together haphazardly cause WWE seems to be banking on the Women's Revolution PR instead of letting it play out through a well thought out storyline. I hate that this will be more material for higher ups to use for their conference presentations instead of actually making stars. Both of them should be made as top stars after this but I have a fear they won't. There's a reason why Goldberg walked in last night and became the number one babyface in the promotion.
  7. I saw the rumors on 2ch (which is a weird place btw) about Io Shirai going to WWE and the match with Yoko Bito is one to look out for. Also look out for Kaho Kobayashi as she's leaving Wave "overseas excursion". She's really good already and unless she's working in AAA, I would bet she would be in that tournament too. Not to parrot Joe Lanza but WWE needs to get as many wrestlers as they can from the Joshi scene in order for the tournament to look good.Kairi Hojo has openly said in an interview (on Stardom World, no less) that she wants to go to WWE. It makes sense, given that she wrestles the closest to a WWE style out of everyone in that promotion. She wouldn't even have to change her spots. I did see that on Stardom World and I would be more than happy if Kairi went to WWE instead of Io. She's a great babyface, heart of the promotion and all of the foreign wrestlers seem to love her when they go to Stardom. (She was even wearing Tessa Blanchard's gear at the end of the last tour) It's almost similar to the Nakamura situation in New Japan as Kairi won't get back to being the World Champ as long as Io and Yoko Bito are around. Kairi is almost 30 and the time for her to jump is now if she has an offer on the table.

  9. Not going to spoil anything if people were avoiding spoilers for the 10/16 Sendai Girls but I can't wait to see the show.
  10. The 9/28 Seadlinnng show was another good show by the promotion. I thought the Arisa/Ryo match was borderline great, Nanae/Rina was a cracking kick ass match and Yoshiko/Aja Kong was a decent main event.
  11. He defended like hell that Mania VII would've been too expensive for security instead of it not selling any tickets but does add that they probably would've had a shit gate at the Coliseum. I like how he brought up the potential Tugboat/Hogan program like he did on Flair's show for people that didn't hear about that.
  12. I wish that the WAVE Network uploaded more consistently because they have uploaded some really good stuff. Just from their August shows, Avid Rival/Las Aventureras, Ayako/Fujimoto, Avid Rival/Kurumi & Tsukushi, and Ayako & Yamashita/Nanae & Yoshiko were all pretty good if not great matches. The last time I heard about the Wave Network, they posted matches clipped. Is that true? I want to see these matches because I think Wave has a deeper roster than Stardom but with less fan fare. Do they still have regular TV?
  13. Going through old observers in the early 90s, I saw that Dave gave ratings for the highly pimped AJW stuff through watching handhelds. I think with the nature of him doing the newsletter and having to be in touch with the latest news, you have to ask: When does he have time to watch the old stuff when a mixed and mastered version of a match or an event is made available?
  14. I hope the that Seadlinng show is on Samurai TV. All of the Seadlinng shows have been good this year.
  15. Here is my review of the Day 1 of the 5*Star GP. http://wrestlingwithwords.com/stardom-5star-grand-prix-day-1-review-results-august-21-2016-ray-vs-iwatani/
  16. I watched some of this show earlier in the year and I watched the Chono vs Hashimoto match first to see if it was bad or not (which it wasn't all that bad) but when I started to watch the show in the beginning, I understood why. The AJW match had some great near falls towards the end. I still have to watch the AJPW match but the show is really good like Pete said.
  17. The MLW announcer on both Bruce's and Flair's show seems to get the pronunciations wrong every week when they did a mini commercial about the other shows on the MLW Network.
  18. Exactly. Time length is starting to be a pet peeve of mine with podcasts but if they are great, they go with a breeze like these do. The Dusty story about them being stopped by a New Jersey Trooper was tremendous.
  19. I can't recommend enough Best Friends tag matches including the Best Friends vs Nanae Takahashi/Yoshiko match from JWP's 7/24 show. (Thank you Donsem43). Match for match, only the Revival has the same output of good to great matches on their 2016 resume and has more if you're doing the Obsever time frame. A match with Thunder Rock would put them over the top for me.
  20. I've enjoyed these shows too as it delves into what Vince thinks about when putting this stuff together. Some of it is Prichard being a company guy even though he's not with the company. But the thing that I've realized is that Vince just has bad taste.
  21. Me too. I always wondered her childhood growing up and this answered it but left me wanting more. Her talking about how the AJW office wanted her to be a heel made me want to know about other things that went down in her career.
  22. I didn't know where to put this so I started a new thread here. This is something I was finally looking for. CCTV sat down with Aja Kong to talk to her about growing up in Japan being mixed race in English and about her career. It was posted in January. Here's the description from the video.
  23. I recently came across the handheld version of this match where the match is in full and I really enjoyed it. I agree with Zenjo's comment about it being action packed and it had a fast pace but not like how FMW tape made it look like it was pure insanity throughout the match with Hokuto and Bull blitzing Kudo and Combat. They cut a section after Hokuto had Kudo in the Romero Special where Hokuto put the Sasorigatame (scorpion death lock) on Kudo and held it on while Combat was throwing punches and kicks at Hokuto. Hokuto, sticking to her stubborn character, didn't break the hold as she tells Combat to bring it while still havig the hold on and the crowd erupts with "Hokuto" chants. Hokuto then takes Kudo and does a nasty backdrop to only get a two count cause she pulls Kudo up by her hair looking at Combat running to break up the pin. Then Bull comes in to put on the inverted Scorpion Death Lock facing the corner where Combat is standing to taunt her some more. Kudo then gets her hope spot as she does a wheelbarrow victory roll for two on Bull. Bull gets control after that and tags in Hokuto where they go into the sequence where you see on the FMW tape that Kudo goes to second rope off the Irish whip into the corner for a twisting body press on Hokuto. I thought that sequence in the match turned the match into a good match to enjoy and something you don't get on the FMW commercial tape. EDIT: I decided to edit together both the pro shot and the handheld so it's complete.
