  1. Flair/Hogan at SuperBrawl 99 did more buys than Austin-Vince the same month. There was still so much natural emotion there. Then they turned Flair heel and everything went downhill, which is an understated part of WCW's decline - bigger than the Fingerpoke.
  2. That will hurt with the old wrestlers vote but shouldn't matter otherwise.
  3. I really want Jerry Jarrett in this thing. When you combine the financial succes with artistic success, it's such a no brainer to me. Maybe Lance's passing will remind people of how special that TV show was and the numbers it did.
  4. I was excited to see my GWE in a singles match finally but it's 9 minutes and clipped weird. And what's with the announcer singing a tune during the finishing sequence? Kinda odd. Action was perfectly fine and enjoyable, though, I wouldn't mind seeing these guys in a longer match.
  5. This was really short and clipped. I enjoy Mendoza as this guy who is physically limited at this point but trying to keep up with the style, like 1988 Wajima in AJPW. The action we do get to see is good and the third fall brings it to a satisfying finish. I'm still waiting for Casas to be really unleashed.
  6. I didn't think I'd like Zayn turning heel but the nostalgia of having him and Owens team again, and they're in the main event, and Zayn pins Orton - yeah I'm back in with SD. They had a rough HITC TV cycle but things seem good now.
  7. Look at all these names! Two big feuds bundled into one! Shoot, it’s only 11 minutes. First fall is another rudo beatdown, as has been the norm this year, elevated by the caliber of the talent. Charles and Fuerza start us with some cool sequences in the segunda. Second fall is all action and very entertaining, highlighting the two main feuds. Atlantis grabs the Atlantida and we’re out of here. I really enjoyed this while it lasted.
  8. I liked this a good amount, it was fun. They kept me engaged, threw in a little leg work, good transitions, high impact finishes, if this is the worst we'll get from CMLL then we have quite the year ahead.
  9. What a pleasure this project is, seeing matches I've never seen with two all-time favorites like Casas and Satanico. I was sad when I saw it was only a 12 minute video. Short match, mostly rudo domination, I would say Satanico was the standout here in everything he did.
  10. This was awesome while it lasted. Tarzan Boy comes in full of fire, but soon succumbs to the best rudo beatdown of 2000 so far. Really great aggression and intensity. The rudo beatdown in the first fall of a CMLL match is so standard that I judge them by how much they're intense, violent, exciting, out of control, etc. The commerical doesn't allow us to see how the tecnicos made a comeback in the segunda, but Satanico blasts Tarzan Boy with a bottle and this feud is really off and running.
  11. Wow this is a really damn good match. Everything is crisp and on point, the Players do a good job controlling the heat section, Jado and Gedo are great on the comeback, the crowd buys into the false finishes, just lots of fun. It makes you think - if ECW had been able to stay alive, could we have combined the fun of Heyman's creativity and that ECW atmosphere with a higher level of work from the guys who then made ROH, working similar to this match. Kind of a sad thought but ROH was great from 04-08 so not a total loss.
  12. Quick first fall dominated by the tecnicos. Nice brawling with Atlantis/Villano and Atlantis even hits a tope near the start of the match. Rudos take the segunda. Negro is a house of fire as we start the tercera including a plancha, looks great. It comes down to Atlantis and Villano and Atlantis is attacked by the other Villanos! What a feud, can’t wait to revisit the payoff in March. Good match.
  13. The thing I'm most excited about with this project is being able to dig into a period of CMLL that I'm not familiar with. I don't know a lot of these guys, but this is a perfectly fun undercard match. Are these guys prelim guys or could they be inserted into semi-main events? I guess I'll find out as the year goes on. Here's a random observation - Ringo Mendoza feels like a lucha Hiroshi Wajima to me physically. I dig Wajima so that's not a bad thing. Good little match.
  14. The CMLL from 2000 so far is definitely embracing the first fall rudo beatdown format. I’m still so fascinated by Negro Casas, just the way he sells a series of punches from Salvaje, it’s hard to explain, he puts something extra into it. Fun match, although nothing to go out of your way to see unless you’re obsessed with Casas like me, he had some great sequences..
  15. An intense Bill Dundee brawl with Lance Russell on commentary. The project may have peaked early. The action is fine but the main thing here is that Lance is still great! This is more of an ECW/Atittude product but he still brings his distinctive style to it that makes you want to get out to the arena. That makes me happy.
  16. I’ve come to like Sasaki but this is bringing back memories of when it felt like Choshu was shoving him down our throats Roman Reigns-style . One of the fun things about a project like this is how your perspective of watching a match can completely change. Tenryu is probably a top-ten guy for me, lets see what he can do headlining the Dome. I don’t mind modern NJPW but yeah I miss the days of two tough bastards beating each other up, this my sweet spot a little more. God it’s wonderful. The stiffness is great. There’s a few times we run out of things to do so sit in a chinlock for a bit, then back to punching each other in the face. The crowd heat for this match indicates I wasn’t alone on my Sasaki hesitance, it’s not electric. You know it’s January 4 when we’re busting out these top rope hurricanrana spots. Overall a very good enjoyable match, but for a Dome main event, not sure it’s a top-third Tenryu match.
  17. Standrad first fall rudo beatdown to start. Change from normal CMLL format – technicos make a comeback in the first fall, then rudos get back offense, then back to technicos. Good brawing at the end of the first fall, Salvaje takes a hard bump on the Arena Coliseo floor, he’s a gamer. Charles bringing fired up tecnico offense in the second fall, that’s new to me, I haven’t seen this era before. Really fun second fall with a bunch of cool sequenes. I’m looking forward to seeing more from this rudo team and Charles as a tecnico.
  18. Felt like it had the pieces to be a really great match but instead was just very good. Hard to explain. Clearly a ton of talent in the ring and it came together nicely in the end.
  19. That's awesome man. DDP gets grief for not doing some things the accepted way, but I dunno, whether its DDP Yoga or Hall and Roberts looking so good, he's on to something.
  20. Standard rudo domination first fall. Nothing special but Satanico elevates everything he’s involved with. Second fall is more rudo domination until the technicos turn the momentum to quickly win the fall. Third fall starts with some intensity with good brawling in the aisle. It escalates with Bucanero and Guerrero taking some nice big bumps, some dives from the technicos, and we go to the finish with Tarzan Boy and Satanico. Very good Arena Coliseo match. Can’t wait to see the big stuff from Satanico/Guerrero/Bucanero as the year goes on.
  21. Simple effective Arena Coliseo match designed to build up Atlantis/Villano. The first two falls are brawling and mask ripping between the two, with things picking up as Atlantis throws Villano into the crowd and picks up a row of chairs to him him with. Things escalate in the tercera, we get to see Negro try to get something interesting out of Pierroth, he did his best.. Good match.
  22. Wow, haven’t watched this era since I was a 15 year old making my parents drive 45 minutes to a Japanese supermarket with AJPW tapes. Why did AJPW put the hard cam in “wrong” part of Korakuen in their later years? Always bugged me. Anyways, I’ve been watching a lot of early 90s AJPW recently so have to adjust my mindset. The crowd is quieter, Kikuchi is wearing different gear. Shoot, this crowd is making me appreciate modern NJPW crowds. Kakahira brought a fun dynamic to things. The last 7 minutes made it a good match but, man, 2017 AJPW has more life than this. Maybe it was a bad night.
  23. There are many reasons I'm excited about this project, but the biggest reason I'm here is for the CMLL. This doesn't reach the level of the great lucha brawls, but it is very good. They sell the brutality of the match well, the 3rd fall escalates nicely, and a good finish. Very excited for all the Satanico/Guerero/Bucanero matches coming up.

Damn, that Shield number is impressive. Why not just keep them together for a while? Everyone is assuming an Ambrose heel turn in the next few months, but the unit makes people like Roman, it positions all three guys as main event players, the audience is excited for it, just ride it.
