Bix Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 Since WM has been announced for MetLife/New Meadowlands Stadium... Hale? A hurricane? A blizzard? Lightning storm? Rodents of Unusual Size?
jdw Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 One could only hope. And no... not about Springsteen. John
Dylan Waco Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 About six miles tops from my mother-in-laws house which means I'll definitely be going as my cost will essentially be gas travel to and from NJ.
Ricky Jackson Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Hypothetically speaking, Taker's final match taking place during a raging storm of some sort would be pretty cool.
KrisZ Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Rock going in the HOF in NYC makes a lot of sense.
cm funk Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 I know that every year for the past while now Vince has pulled something out of his ass when it comes to a big WM drawing match, but it's getting to the point where I'm really curious how many tricks he has left. I guess next year could be Steve Austin and/or Brock Lesnar, and they can probably pull a pretty good celebrity tie-in with it being in the NY area. But it seems like the well is going to start running dry soon. Seems like this could/should be Taker's last year, probably won't see Rock again next year, they could keep bringing HHH back a few more times but I don't think he means much as a draw. Batista? Bring HBK out of retirement? The big match they have that has never really happened is Cena v. Undertaker, but at this rate I wonder if it'll ever happen
El-P Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Isn't it depressing that each year for the past 4 or 5, the big WrestleMania event is all about an old guy retiring, coming off retirement, or having one of his last match. Tells everything about the state of pro-wrestling.
Marty Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 This is what WeatherSpark has for historical temperatures on April 7 at Newark, New Jersey: http://weatherspark.com/averages/30215/4/7...y-United-States If it's moreless an average day, if they were smart, they'd make this a rare afternoon Mania. Probably won't, though, knowing Vince. A nighttime Mania on its own in the Greater New York area might lead to hilarity as it is, due to the cooling temperatures. Add in nasty weather, and the possibilities are endless.
Loss Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 A "WRESTLE-RAIN-IA?" headline would be funny.
Marty Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 A "WRESTLE-RAIN-IA?" headline would be funny. It's also in early April, so judging by the page I linked, as Bix implied above, snow is not out of the question, although it's rare.
Loss Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 If it does, I DEMAND a montage to this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBJ0lxBhGDs
NintendoLogic Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 A "WRESTLE-RAIN-IA?" headline would be funny. This inspired me to spend way too much time coming up with weather-related New York Post-style pun headlines. MACHO MAN RAIN-DY SAVAGE! EMERALD SNOW-SION! IN YOUR HOUSE: BEWARE OF FOG!
Marty Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 MACHO MAN RAIN-DY SAVAGE! NintendoLogic = Jack Pfefer
NintendoLogic Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 I'm just getting warmed up. HUNTER HEARST HAIL-MSLEY! COLDUST! SURVIV-BRRR SERIES!
Dooley Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 If it does, I DEMAND a montage to this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBJ0lxBhGDs And if it rains, we need a montage set to Milli Vanilli
FLIK Posted February 18, 2012 Report Posted February 18, 2012 I guess next year could be Steve Austin and/or Brock Lesnar, and they can probably pull a pretty good celebrity tie-in with it being in the NY area. Undertaker, but at this rate I wonder if it'll ever happen They haven't done it in years but Cena vs Taker happened a bunch of times. Some of Cena's better matches actually. Course, if WWE wanted they could always pretend it didn't like ignoring the 1st HHH/Taker Mania match or the previous Hogan/Andre matches that took place before Mania 3 If they can find the right person and Taker is up for it, I really think next year he should lose and go out 20 & 1. Dunno who that person would be, maybe Punk if Austin isn't going to come back to face him. Rock's allready come out saying he'll be involved next year too.
cm funk Posted February 19, 2012 Report Posted February 19, 2012 I know Cena/Taker happened, but it was before he was JOHN CENA, and it wasn't done in a big way. Plus, honestly, most of the current audience wasn't watching SD back in 03, and WWE would pretend like the match never happened anyway
Ricky Jackson Posted February 19, 2012 Report Posted February 19, 2012 I think Cena and Taker wrestled on a Raw circa 2006, but as a big time match/feud it has yet to be exploited.
flyonthewall2983 Posted February 19, 2012 Report Posted February 19, 2012 Will they swing Springsteen. No, but I'm betting they must be courting the Bon Jovi camp hard. I wish I were joking.
artDDP Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 Reading this thread got me thinking of what sort of nightmare it would be if this card were delayed or postponed due to weather. Can you imagine the cost of rescheduling something like this? I probably know the answer but I'll ask anyway: Is Vince really taking the risk of scheduling an outdoor WrestleMania in NY/NJ during a season of unpredictable weather just to maybe steal a little bit of the NFL's thunder?
Death From Above Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 Surely they can build some sort of temporary ring roof dealie in the 21st century that is, essentially, a glorified giant carnival tent. It would probably be worth the one time investment in one if you could roll it out for the odd baseball stadium show, or something.
Tim Evans Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 I remember during the Orlando Mania, it was raning and they in fact had a big tent over the ring.
