WWE Network... It's Here

One thing that struck me about that ECW doc, well two actually. Bubba was spot on saying ECW was the Napster of wrestling. They changed the business then went away. Also it was something to see everyone on the panel still having such passion for ECW. I can't imagine anyone currently in the business having the same feelings for any company today.

I felt that had ECW continued on RVD would have beaten Rhyno for the ECW World Title.

I agree with what Bubba said, ECW heavily influenced the Attitude era.

Like they said , the poster for the show was Sabin and Taz.

After so many examples why are some people so OCD about a main event must be the last match or even a title match?

Thanks for the clarification. If it was the most heavily promoted and fan anticipated, I don't have an issue with it. I wasn't watching ECW then, so I didn't know.

I know countdown shows are pretty much BS, but someone explain to me how fans tossing dozens of chairs on top of Public Enemy, Cactus and Terry Funk, as well as the Beulah-Kimona kiss ranked above Shane Douglass throwing down the NWA title and essentially creating ECW?

I'll listen to a conversation that will put the lesbian kiss in a top 5 moments all-time, if you want to take it from a "see, we were progressive and trail blazing on social issues on our television" sort of standpoint (plus it was a storyline advancement), but the chairs moment seems more like a list filler moment (ahhh, we need something in slot 45 sort of thing), rather than THE OMG moment of ECW history!

Agreed. Was pretty stunned that the belt getting thrown down wasn't #1. The chairs in the ring was a pretty big deal (it was the end of the opening of the show for years), but it's more top 10 than number 1.

Regardless of the rankings themselves, the show was pretty fun, with a wide-ranging group of people talking about the moments.

And they hit some of the points that I would have assumed would be swept under a rug like the crucifixion angle. The only obvious stuff they left out that I could think of from the top of my head was the Mass Transit incident, the "December to Forget" (as Mick Foley called it in his first book), Vic Grimes' scaffold bump and the Tanaka vs. Awesome and Tajiri vs. Super Crazy vs. Little Guido rivalries.

I can buy it. Keep in mind, Disney isn't just Mickey Mouse. They have many subsidiaries (and Paul did say he was negotiating with one of those). For example, in the '80s, Touchstone Pictures - a Disney company - released movies geared towards teens and adults.

Things are a little different now. By purchasing Marvel and Lucasfilm, they've narrowed the focus a bit and are seemingly less concerned with putting out the kind of films they did with Touchstone (which may very well released it's last movie this year) and helping invest in what Miramax did. I think about the only thing they have left that isn't at least partially aimed at a young audience are ABC's original prime-time dramas.

But as it was in the 90's, I could have seen them get in the wrestling game. ECW, even owned by the same Disney company that helped bring Pulp Fiction and Michael Bay to the masses, would have been considerably watered down. They probably would have just wound up doing with it what WCW was essentially doing around this time, remaking itself in the WWF's image.

"ECW is negotiating with Buena Vista" is a story that was around at the time, even if it was never true, or if it was and just had nothing to do with a sale. At the very least, it wasn't Heyman pulled completely out of thin air for the new special.

That was a rumor. Part of that rumor was that ECW would end up moving from MSG Network and TNN to ESPN 2. Another rumor was that due to the AOL Time Warner merger, WCW would get the plug pulled and ECW would get Thunder's slot. Another rumor was that some record executive was going to buy the company.

I remember them talking to USA Network, since they lost Raw too.

Past and present WWE Network subscribers, check your registered email for a recent survey.

I hear about these surveys from time to time but have never received one. Wonder how large a sample they use.

Are you on their mailing list. I haven't gotten anything about the Network for a year now since I unsubscribed from their mailing list.

They finished the 2011 uploads so the entire run of Raw is up except for the Raw Bowl episode that apparently ran afoul of the copyright gods for some reason.

I can't imagine what the issues could be. They managed to skate around the whole Kid Rock deal with Raw #366, even while showing Joe C. in backstage vignettes and running in during the tag titles match. So, I imagine that, they're just trolling the OCD types, by purposely holding that one episode out.

Got one today as well. Essentially:

-Who are your favorite superstars?

-What is your opinion of each brand (rating 1-10)

-Sort the divisions (singles, tag teams, cruiserweight, women) in order of interest

-How often do you watch?

-How often do you engage on various social media platforms?

-What types of programming are most important?

-How do you view programming? (I.e. Smartphone, tablet, streaming device on tv)

-Demographics
