Great promos and angles from the last 15 years

I know there are some, but it seems like it would be a short list. I don't mean amusing or entertaining promos so much as I mean really good angles and promos that would hold up to past eras where the booking tended to be better and not look out of place. I come up with:

- Jim Cornette promos in the ROH vs CZW feud

- Some of the stuff in the Jericho-Michaels feud

- Nexus invades

- The Rock returns, builds to match with John Cena

- CM Punk gets a pipe bomb

- Daniel Bryan's journey to Wrestlemania 30

- A few isolated things from Paul Heyman

- Brock Lesnar All Access-like segment to build to Cena match at Extreme Rules 2012

- Some Larry Sweeney stuff

What am I missing?

I think the Summer of Punk stuff in 2005 ROH was pretty good. He won the belt, signed his WWE contract on it and threatened to take it with him. He was tapping into the same animosities and dynamics he would later with the pipebomb, but from the opposite direction. He kept winning matches smart fans thought they had pegged, too. They swerved the audience pretty well.

Steen's run to destroy ROH and Jim Cornette was something I really liked, but mostly kind of the first half of it, when Steen was really coming into the evil character he has been working around since then. I thought some of his promos were great and just the sort of moments he would create really stood out. Some of it was over the top and I wasn't as big a fan of it later when it moved into the SCUM stuff (though I admittedly haven't seen as much of it), but Steen vs ROH/Jimmy was pretty great and that kind of intensity and slow burn can really translate well across time I think.

Eddy/Rey worked and I did like the matches, but the idea of child custody being decided in a ladder match ...

I get that they were going for a telenovella vibe, and in that regard, they succeeded. I also thought everyone performed well, including Vicki and Dominic.

Ah, what the hell, I've talked myself into it. It was over the top even for wrestling, but it was by design and managed to appeal to a wider audience going that route.

For GREAT stuff?

Not much.

Come now, there has been plenty. A few off the top of my head:

Kurt Angle entering TNA and the face to faces with Samoa Joe over the weeks was the best work TNA has put out, they really got that right initially.

Mark Henry's fake retirement speech.

Nexus initial debut tearing apart the ring and taking out the stars.

The mini OTT heel run of Shawn Michaels in 2005.

Agreed, this is the best ROH promo and angle work over one storyline.

The Eddie feud with Rey Jr. was great too. The heel turn was a great great angle.

Highly underrated. I think a lot of people wrote it off at the time as silly, which is an odd complaint in wrestling and totally without context besides. Of course it was silly, it was some madcap telenovela stuff that Eddie and Rey wrote themselves to appeal to the Latinos who made up a huge and growing part of SmackDown's audience then.

Loss said this more or less, I should read the whole thread next time.

- Brock Lesnar All Access-like segment to build to Cena match at Extreme Rules 2012

Do you mean the match at Summerslam?

If not, they did one for the match at Summerslam that I really enjoyed.

Mark Henry did a great retirement promo that felt like something out of a different era.

No, there was a segment on Raw two weeks before Extreme Rules 2012.

The one with Cena being scared pissless? Jesus that was amazing.

Some have already been said, so others off the top of my head:

- Early SES Punk with him shaving people's heads

- The MVP & Matt Hardy rivalry and then uneasy tag team

- Some of The Miz's promos in his U.S. Champ era, particularly the one where he starts in the back and ends up in the ring talking about locker room bullies

- The entire Shawn vs Jericho feud

- The entire Foley vs Orton feud, particularly Foley's money promo in Hershey after returning

- The entire Trish & Mickie angle from Mickie's debut to Trish's injury

- Edge's Joker period before facing Undertaker at Summerslam 2008. Hokey, but I enjoyed it.

- Foley's promo on Edge during the same period

- The Bray Wyatt vignettes

- Daniel Bryan's heel turn in late 2011-early 2012 with the AJ stuff

- Team Hell No skits and antics

- Randy Orton as the killer who punts people into death in early 2009 (before they fucked that up)

- Punk turning heel on Jeff Hardy in 2009 and that whole feud

- The Angle vs Eddie feud in early 2004, especially watch the one where Angle comes out silently taping his fists to beat the shit out of a handcuffed Eddie

- The UFC-style promos for the Cena/Lashley match

- Jeff Hardy's meteoric rise in popularity in late 2007/early 2008, watch some of those video packages they did for him

- Kane's promos for the Undertaker "vegetative state" angle. Again, a hokey angle but he did really well with it.

- The Jericho vs Rey mask feud in 2009

Every single thing that Jeff G. Bailey has spoken into a microphone over that span of time, for promos. Most of the other really good Wildside promos were comedic, like Seth Delay/Sal Rinauro's acts.

The IWS Bloodstream legacy will be the segments featuring Beef Wellington & El Generico that were almost all pure comedy, but Franky the Mobster cut some exceptional "violently insane" promos that often were funny but suitably convincing that he was pretty unhinged. "Early" Jon Moxley stuff is in a similar vein.

Is this just American stuff? Cause I'll add the Konnan/Stacy Colon angle from WWC and the Apaches/Billy Boy feud from AAA. I haven't seen much of the Konnan angle except when he hit Stacy in the head with a guitar and it almost caused a riot. The Billy Boy feud is great with him falling in love with Fabi, having a kid, Gran apache goes nuts and Super Calo of all people showing up.
