Gutenberger Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 So, instead of hating on everything as usual, everywhere on the interwebs basically, I thought some positivity would be nice. I'm asking myself, are there moves that are generally loved, or almost generally? What moves do you specifically love seeing, or hearing sometimes? For example, the first one that comes to my mind is the, as it is now called, Phenomenal forearm. I loved seeing it back in TNA, soved it ever since and am SO hyped that it has now become his finishing move, although I really liked the Styles Clash as a visual as well.
AJS Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 I've always loved Barry Windham's float over suplex and Tully Blanchard's slingshot suplex. I've always liked the 'special occasions only' type move. Kobashi's burning hammer springs to mind.
JerryvonKramer Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 Really well executed gut wrench suplex. Harley has a sweet one. Iron Sheik has a cool one too.
AJS Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 Jumbo Tsuruta's Dropkick, Bret Hart's Back breaker and I must admit i've always' enjoyed Kurt Angle's run up top rope belly to belly.
Gutenberger Posted May 4, 2016 Author Report Posted May 4, 2016 I gotta admit I love Sweet Chin Music. But I've always been a huge HBK mark anyway, so no surprise there.
ThomasFromIowa Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 Cannonballs into the corner. If anybody who is heavy or explosively athletic does this move it is awesome to watch.
overbooked Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 I think there are few moves more satisfying that a proper, knock-you-out-your-boots lariat.
WingedEagle Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 Couple of classics here that never disappoint -- Arn's spinebuster and Jumbo's lariat. Hansen's gets a lot of love, but Jumbo always seemed to punctuate his in such brutal fashion. Just terrific impact. Not sure that I'd attribute it to any particular wrestler, but I always pop for a suplex that follows a real struggle to execute the move. Whether German, buttefly, vertical or otherwise it almost doesn't matter. Teasing the block before finally getting an opponent up for great impact on the bump is just a great visual and hopefully audio as well.
supremebve Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 I'm a huge mark for a brainbuster. If you have a dope looking brainbuster, I'm probably a fan of yours. Someone brought up the slingshot suplex, I want the next hot, young blue chipper to come in and use a slingshot jackhammer as a finisher. Too bad he'll use a spear or another version of the complete shot.
Mr. Lacelle Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 I'm a sucker for Paul Orndorff's piledriver. Bret's is good too but Paul's in his a class of his own.
tim Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 The slingshot is a move I like that a lot of people seem to hate.
soup23 Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 Current favorites: Chris Hero's quick piledriver Sabre's Breaks Special Matt Riddle's anklelock
Migs Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 Pretty much every Midnight Express finisher. Veg-o-Matic > Double Goozle > Gravedigger > Rocket Launcher > Flapjack.
supremebve Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 Pretty much every Midnight Express finisher. Veg-o-Matic > Double Goozle > Gravedigger > Rocket Launcher > Flapjack. This is probably a ridiculous request, but can you describe those? I've watched plenty of Midnight Express, but other than the Rocket Launcher and Flapjack I don't think I can name any of their finishers.
Laz Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 A good DDT is the greatest move I've ever seen. Jake, Arn, Raven, and Zayn's through-the-ropes tornado DDT are things of beauty.
goc Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 Cattle Branding. There were a few wrestlers who used to do it but Dick Murdoch is the guy I saw do it the most. Someone should have stolen that and used it in the 2000s while everyone else was busy stealing moves from Japanese wrestlers.
southofheavy Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 ^ That. Cattle Branding is so awesome. I love Tiger Mask's German Suplex. He gets such a high arch on it. It's very graceful, yet has a lot of impact at the same time. A good Northern Lights Suplex is a sight to behold. That move doesn't get used nearly enough anymore. On the suplex tip, I've soured on Tiger and Dragon suplexes. Too often, the victim kinda slides into the bump and it just doesn't look as nasty as those moves should be. Arn's Spinebuster is a thing of beauty, especially when it's used as a cutoff move.
cad Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 Butterfly suplex Indian deathlock Frog splash (when done by anyone other than Eddy Guerrero)
GOTNW Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 Cattle Branding. There were a few wrestlers who used to do it but Dick Murdoch is the guy I saw do it the most. Someone should have stolen that and used it in the 2000s while everyone else was busy stealing moves from Japanese wrestlers. Hiroyoshi Tenzan does that move all the time. Akiyama does a variation of it as well. Maybe some other japanese wrestlers I'm forgetting do it too.

That's not how it's supposed to work.
Ricky Jackson Posted May 5, 2016 Report Posted May 5, 2016 I'm a sucker for Paul Orndorff's piledriver. Bret's is good too but Paul's in his a class of his own. Those are both great, but Bob Backlund's piledriver is the true "Holy Fuck he just killed that guy" piledriver
donsem43 Posted May 5, 2016 Report Posted May 5, 2016 As a joshi fan, I'm contractually obligated to mention Kairi Hojo's top-rope elbow drop. Also, Moonsault Footstomp!!!
