Dale Wolfe
I always watch Bloodsport mainly because of the Barnet connection but Regals kid beating Shinya Aoki was certainly an odd choice. The fella has tapped John Lineker and was fighting in One only last month while Dempsey is to my eyes nothing much at all. The card was full of things like that
Robert S
Yeah, that was one booking decision that seemed suspect (as have no clue about Joshi, I can't judge the booking of those matches), though Aoki does not seem super protected in DDT either, so I guess you could try to argue for that result. I was positively surprised about Natalya's performance. She was the biggest name WWE provided for the show (with maybe the exception of Pete Dunne) and you could have expected her to do the bare minimum here, but she seemed motivated. Except using the Sharpshooter as a finish and spot or two, where I guess her instincts made her do something that did not fit to the style, it was a pretty good match. sek69
So the surprise entrant, and the winner of, the Clusterfuck at Joey Janela's Spring Break show was Brodie Lee Jr.

I mean, as much as you can call that Sabu match "feel-good", but you get the sentiment.

I dunno, figure four and scorpion deathlocks popped up in original UWF. I'm pretty sure I've seen examples of wrestling fans in MMA do one or both. Def seen a shoot Boston crab before. KawadaSmile
Yeah, MMA fighter Jonno Mears did win a match with a Boston Crab - turns out bending your opponent in half the other way around is pretty fucking painful. A Sharpshooter isn't too far off from that.
sek69
Saw Nattie do an interview where she was stating she really wanted to do Bloodsport to be able to show things she "can't" do in WWE. It wasn't like she was shooting on the company or anything but it was surprising to hear from a WWE lifer saying something that could be viewed as even slightly negative. Bayley is apparently not very happy about her treatment relating to Mania this year either. SRS mentioned recently how WWE basically resigned Nattie last year to prevent her to go to AEW as she wanted to be part of the Owen tournament. Whether that's true or not, no idea.

Fire her? She has nothing to lose, so win-win for her either way.
sek69
Bayley has been sounding pretty burnt out in interviews as of late. I can imagine the frustration of carrying the company through the pandemic only to get pushed aside when the fans came back.
KawadaSmile
It's wild because she went from full heel to being loved by the crowd at last year's Mania. To be tossed aside for a makeshift tag team that lasted less than 24h was some bullshit. I get that you want to give Becky a welcoming pop, but there's no need to throw Bayley aside like that. El-P
Mystery Wrestling (the local indie from Evil Uno) streaming on Twitch. And it begins with John Silver singing Conte Partiro. Yes. This is what pro-wrestling needs in 2025.
sek69
Konnan had some interesting things to say on his podcast about WWE buying AAA. He said the problem in AAA wasn't the wrestlers (mostly true), or the booking (not nearly as true), but them not having a consistent source of income. While it didn't help, Billionaire Ted's wallet wouldn't have helped the slop they were booking. He also seems to think that WWE is just going to be injecting money so what you'll see is the usual AAA product only with vastly better production levels. There can't be any way that he thinks WWE would buy something and not WWE all over it.
BigBadMick
Watched Night Of Champions 2014 last night. I'm fairly certain that Conrad Thompson was in the front row, opposite hard cam. He was drinking quite a bit and never away from his phone. Has it ever been confirmed that it's him? There are already reports of AAA talent being told to learn English and work more American style, and Jeremy Borash is going to be co-booking with Konnan. It's a wrap. WWE hasn't bought TNA (yet ?) and the entire discourse about TNA already is who is gonna show up to NXT, how whomever is so over in NXT, how it's awesome than whomever is gonna be a big star in WWE next. They are 100% a feeder to WWE already. So, AAA actually being part of the machine... As far as AAA's booking not being an issue, it's the most hilarious thing ever considering the last two years. One has to remember Konnan is booking Alberto el Rapist as his world champ and has not exactly supported Stephanie Vaquer either (lot of luchadors still support Cuatrero).
NintendoLogic
If you'll recall, AAA double-crossing AEW on the tag title switch with FTR and Dragon Lee was the beginning of the end of the relationship between the two companies. AAA did go crawling back to try to salvage the relationship shortly afterward, which seems to suggest that WWE promised them something in return but then reneged. I have to wonder if it was a deliberate attempt by WWE to manipulate AAA into blowing up their relationship with AEW to cut off a potential lifeline. sek69
It sounds conspiratorial, but knowing how WWE works I would suspect that was the case. It really isn't talked about enough how much they engage in what's basically financial abuse to smaller companies in promising them some form of assistance in order to sabotage a larger competitor. Let's not forget TNA and AEW had a working relationship as well when Omega was doing the belt collector gimmick with the AEW, AAA, and TNA titles and now those groups are owned/co-opted by WWE. The Thread Killer
You can laugh all you want now, but when Real American Freestyle Wrestling is packing arenas around the country and getting record setting TV ratings, we will see who gets the last laugh…brother. Once people see that Hulk Hogan is involved, they’re going to automatically want to check out the product, because his brand isn’t at all toxic. This is an idea whose time has come, just like the original XFL.

PeteF3
Unbelievably, Hogan had not one but two decent takes in that interview, talking up Toni Storm and AEW and also saying what a lot of people have been saying about the (lack of) follow-up to the Cena turn.
