Was watching some 1992 WCW and there was a story where Paul E. and the Dangerous Alliance were being paid by Doc and Gordy to take out the Steiners. Have no recollection of this so assuming it went nowhere and wasn't followed up on because WCW.

It was just because Doc/Gordy had a Japan tour.

I'm resigned to, one day, seeing wrestling matches called via audience vote instantly relayed to the ref's smart-watch who then discretely tells the wrestlers the next spot (yeah, I don't know why "discretely" either but you know they would). Even if only as a novelty. I'm sure it's crossed someone's mind. AI could probably book AEW if you asked it nicely. Bring back the WrestleMania horse float/golf cart thingies they used back in the day with the ring ropes. Seeing Andre and Brain pelted with garbage as they rolled into 'Mania 3 on one of those was gold. I honestly think Otis would bounce two storeys if you dropped him off a building. Are Ricochet, Gable, Corbin and Dom WWE's pillars? I've been in a soccer riot (England vs Turkiye, World Youth Cup years ago) but not a wrestling riot and I fear I will never be in a wrestling riot and that sucks. Bugs Bunny vs Ravishing Ronald doesn't get enough love. I couldn't stand "soup-lay" for "suplex" and I'm glad it's gone. How anyone managed to grab a hold with all the baby oil in the 80s is impressive.

My "It's four in the morning and the world's asleep" musings.

On a happier note, the estimable Drake Younger broke his back and fractured three vertebrae on the same show. He asks for our prayers.

Super bummed to hear this, Drake's a legend and really got himself into great shape recently.

MASADA setting himself on fire, anyone? I didn't laugh, but I didn't feel sorry for him, I just thought, "Dickhead". ymmv.

Better footage here: https://www.tmz.com/2023/04/28/wrestler-sets-himself-on-fire-in-deathmatch-event-suffers-significant-burns/

Likely the minority here, but I love XPW. I enjoy the sleaze, I like outlaw shit. Somebody has to do it. Makes the promotion seem shocking and dangerous.  Dirty Ron is a total lunatic, their whole roster top to bottom is 5150. I get a kick out of Rob Black, his New York attitude on wrestling is a lot like Vince Russo's (yet oddly enough Russo's views are closer to Cornette's in terms of hating XPW/deathmatch wrestling). I am from New York so perhaps things don't offend me in the same way as a lot of fans. The commentary is great and Larry Legend is a great announcer. I prefer XPW over GCW.

Oh I don't know about that, there are plenty of dumb deathmatch scolds out there. I mean look at the reaction whenever there's a bloody AEW match. I would say there's no small amount of people who think "well I don't agree with him that the (((liberal cabal))) is eating baby brains in pizza shop basements but light tubes are where I draw the line."

I've been part of two live AEW crowds and I've seen on TV the crowds. It's at least 75% hipster nerds , not pilled up Q transphobe morons.

Seems like there is a budding rivalry happening between XPW/GCW. I feel like it's been downhill for GCW since their very disappointing Manhattan Center show. They've scaled back the deathmatches for more pretty boy high flyers (Jordan Oliver, Nick Wayne, Blake Christian, Starboy Charlie) and luchadores. They stopped booking SHLAK, RSP and G-Raver. Gage ballooned overnight but seems to have a grip on it now. Mox sat on the title for months. Janela having random midcard matches. Masha won the title out of nowhere.

The stereotype of the redneck wrestling fan is outdated. There may be the occasional clown with a Let's Go Brandon sign at an AEW show, but wrestling fandom as a whole is overwhelmingly left-leaning. The chud sports fan demographic has mostly migrated to UFC.

There's almost no let's say ''Just Bleed'' fanbase in wrestling nowadays.

Man, seeing all that money raised & that Tony Khan donated $5k brought a tear to my eye, I won't front. Sometimes the wrestling community is pretty cool. Most of us have been on wrestling forums for over twenty years at this point. We all know Dean, I feel, or at least his writings.

Would there be gift tax implications if he was to donate higher than that? Of course TK did drop 10K on Shad Gaspard's GoFundMe but that 5k seems to be quite a commonly given amount.

I'm obviously not in/from the USA so treat that with a grain of salt.
