Can't decide if the wedding was the worst thing I've ever seen or a genius example of post-ironic anti humour.

To me it was both, the ex spouses part went on for too long but then it went to another level and became amazing.

If the Liv thing had ended with her being blindsided and disappearing after basically a sneak attack by Lana, it would have left a bad taste in the mouth for me. But she and Rusev ended the segment standing tall, with the crowd cheering them. I am just glad that WWE, which is usually about 10 years behind the current mentality, knows that you can book a gay person professing her love as a babyface.

I mean, it has 1.5 million views plus on YT right now, so it's appealing to somebody. Plus, Car Crash TV is what actually brought casual fans back to wrestling in the first place, not well-paced 15 minute matches between good workers.

Is it? Nitro wasn't really car crash.

The quality of so bad it's good wrestlecrap must of gone down, because I found that end angle boring, unfunny, and repetitive. Probably the least entertaining wrestling wedding angle and I'm a sucker for those

It was even more unbearable given the timing.  This was an overrun for the sake of rubbing our faces in the dirt.  Maybe it would've been better without the first two interruptions from extras?  Maybe if it was obvious to anyone that it was Liv Morgan or that her hype videos somehow tied into this?  Maybe if it wasn't built up for weeks only to result in another interim angle involving Rusev yet again?  It was from good but nowhere near campy or short enough to make for proper wrestlecrap.  It was just bad television.

Oh, and the only reason the AJ/Orton angle from earlier in the night doesn't rival this for worst segment is because it was much shorter.  Equally dumb and preposterous, but somehow featuring worse writing and acting.

It did have a lot of non-wrestling angles, which were really fun. Not car crash, but like all the Sting Vs. nWo stuff or anytime the nWo would beat people down & spray paint them... that shit was gold. Like it's old hat now, but when I was watching it in the 90's when I was a teenager, it was new to me. I wanted to see DDP hit people with the Diamond Cutter. I wanted to see Sting Scorpion Death Drop people. Hell, for awhile, when he was a babyface, I was all about The Giant Chokeslamming the hell out of people too. Not to mention the climb to the top of Goldberg.

One thing that stands out to me about wrestling then compared to now? A finisher was a big deal. Even when it wasn't a match. Like Kevin Nash doing a walk-in to hit a Jackknife Powerbomb felt like a big deal. Even when they weren't doing the angle where the Powerbomb was banned. Seeing wrestling segments that weren't matches that ended with a wrestlers finisher was always exciting to me. ECW did that well too. Sometimes WWE does that still with like the RKO but during the Attitude Era? How often did Austin stun the hell out of people? It feels like you don't get that anymore. Even when Batista chose RAW over Smackdown & turned on Triple H & Ric Flair, that ended with a Batista Bomb through a table. We need more stuff like that.

I feel like the Mysterio, Jr. lawn dart moment was really big for Nitro.

Consider how wretched a segment has to be for Joey Ryan to be able to call you out for being tasteless. The incels in the crowd may have popped for it, but most people would be embarrassed to have a family member walk in and catch them watching it. If this is what brings back the casual audience, I hope wrestling remains a niche product until the end of time.

loved the wedding. It was the best and worst of wrestling all wrapped up into one!

Yeah... I think you might be giving WWE too much credit here. Depicting Liv as a deranged jilted ex-lover is not exactly the ideal way to present WWE's first official (I think) LGBTQ+ storyline.

Satin is making a fool of himself, as usual, on Twitter going into overdrive defending it.

With all of that said, I don't think this storyline is mocking gay relationships - like Twitter thinks - any more than than it's mocking straight relationships with all of the Rusev-Lana-Lashley silliness. It's all completely over-the-top and everything is being presented in a "heightened" fashion.

Sonya's been pitching a low key LGBTQ storyline with her and Mandy (and they were clearly going that way at some point a few months ago), and now she had to watch them do what they did last night. By her responses on Twitter she didn't seem too happy about it.

I guess the best spin you can put on it is at least WWE treated it with the same respect it treats any other hetero relationship (there always has to be a crazy female), but  for one it was so shoehorned it came off as patronizing, and it played on stereotypes of bisexuals clearly learned by someone who's view of such things was learned in the 90s via porn sites.

Plus there's the matter of Lana's response of attacking her basically being domestic violence if we're supposed to believe these two have been in a downlow relationship all this time. I guess you can be generous and say it plays in in Lana's overall character she's been doing in this angle, but it's still a big yikes when you step back and look at it.

Hey, I'm not saying it's a good thing, but the truth is, the height of pro wrestling popularity in America when it comes to business also happens to be also to be one of the worst years in-ring since the beginning of the National Expansion.

It was really telling that the crowd died during the Lana/Liv fight. They wanted to see them be a happy couple but instead we got a 90s lesbian catfight.

Agreed. Reminded me of the audible pop when Sasha said I love you to bayley last year and people thought it might go another route.

Do feel bad for Sonya. According to what they showed on Total Divas, her and Mandy were supposed to have their angle at WrestleMania but got pulled. Then it was around June when they were really teasing it and it went nowhere as usual.

Dude is a genius. Popping the question straight after a wedding angle so they don't do it with him and Charlotte.

Now he just has to hope Vince doesn't think he married above his pay grade and start trying to split them apart.

Lana is doing her damnedest to try to work this angle on her Twitter, admonishing people for assuming someone isn't gay because they've never mentioned it before. The irony of course is if she really was gay she'd be the first one announcing it to everyone on social media.
