outlaw mudshow bullshit world title match

You mean the gimmick match that drew 30.000 to 50.000 people without TV for FMW at Kawasaki Stadium in the 90's ? There's nothing outlaw mudshow about this, Onita is one of the biggest star ever and this is is signature match.

Absolutely a one-match show as far as potential greatness goes, but an Onita style match between two of the best workers in the world in 2021, I say this can be one of the most memorable match of the year, at the very least.

Jericho/MJF vs Bucks I'm not really excited about the match, but I am intrigued by the finish. Enough time has passed that Guevara can probably return now if they are ready to bring him back. It's just a matter of when. I'm also curious what the end result of all of this is. Is it a Jericho babyface run against an Inner Circle led by MJF and Guevara, who swerved everyone? Is it Guevara getting a big babyface run with programs against Jericho and MJF? Is it Jericho and MJF finally exploding and going into their feud? I have no idea.

Good card but not a great one.

No interest at all in the Miro tag or Hardy/Page. Both programs are grating on me and I want to see both Miro and Page move on to bigger and better things.

Shida/Mizunami could be decent after what has sounded like a fun little tournament but I'm still waiting for the women's division to catch fire. Reasonably into everything else - but as said above, only the main event is likely to offer greatness.

That was back when Marilyn Manson and Jerry Springer were huge. Let's keep all that trash in the 90s where it belongs, thank you very much.

NintendoLogic's always had this visceral reaction to deathmatch wrestling.  To me it seems inconsistent to gush over 90s AJPW with all its head drops then get like this, but it's probably more an aesthetic thing.  To some folks making weapons & environmental hazards the main focus means it's not wrestling anymore, and i can understand that on some level.

Which is fair enough and more than valid, but cosplaying an old, out of touch, racist embarrassment like Cornette in your posts is not the best way to get the message across IMO.

Jim Cornette, is that you? Have we found your PWO account?

Why, um...no, of course not. What ever gave you that idea?

I recognize a degree of inconsistency in deploring deathmatch wrestling and revering 90s All Japan. If someone were to say there's no meaningful difference between the two in terms of needless risk and physical toll, I wouldn't argue the point. The distinction for me is partially aesthetic, but it's more than that. Unlike some, I always enjoyed All Japan in spite of the dangerous moves, not because of them. I suppose it's kind of like loving George Carlin despite being uncomfortable with foul language while despising Andrew Dice Clay.

The Street Fight between Sting/Darby Allin vs Brian Cage/Ricky Starks has already been taped and it's said to be "a massive success" where Sting is working in an environment as safe as possible, with Team Taz getting some star-shining moments and where Darby Allin can showcase his daredevil side as well as putting his cinematic skills to use.

It's weird because I think AEW has had really inconsistent and something mediocre booking the last few months, but somehow this PPV seems to have a big buzz. I am really looking forward to it. Onita's baby on big budget international PPV is the absolute best way to start 2021
