gordi
Hope it's OK for a lapsed former regular poster to stat a thread. Thinking about All Out: A fair number of the matches seem to be foregone conclusions. AEW might throw a curveball at us, though. I'm still excited to watch the matches that seem to have obvious outcomes, with maybe one exception. They added a pre-show 10-man Best Friends and JE vs HFO tag match, I guess in place of the Pac vs Andrade match. Women's Casino Battle Royale has been moved to the main card. I'd expect Thunder Rosa to win, and Ruby Soho to be the surprise entrant, but none of that is carved in stone. Mox vs Kojima: Mox is gonna win, but I'm excited to watch, for the crowd reactions. I'm expecting Bread Club signs and a surprisingly loud ICCHAUZO BAKAYARO! The Big Paul vs Cutie Marshall: Well... hopefully it will be over with quickly. Jericho vs MJF: Not, in my opinion, a foregone conclusion any more. That Jericho/JR segment was emotional enough to put some doubt in my mind. Miro vs Kingston: I'm expecting greatness here, a Miro win, and a set-up for Miro vs Mox in Cincinnati... and/or a Miro vs King re-match in New York. Young Bucks vs Lucha Brothers: Also not a foregone conclusion. Dynamite seems to have set up a Lucha Brothers win, but holding off for a Santana & Ortiz win in New York would also make sense. Dentist vs Alien, that old classic pro wrestling storyline: No way Baker loses here. Should be a good match. Punk vs punk: This is the one match where I am really curious to see how they book it. One one hand, you'd think there's no way Punk loses his debut... on the other hand, it would be really cool if he put Darby over here. Omega vs Christian: I'll actually be bummed out if Cage wins. I think Hangman has to be the guy who takes the AEW belt off of Kenny.
sek69
Seems like the latest word is Bryan debuts on this show. When Tony was on with Dave, he mentioned that he had a pretty solid idea of which match would go on last (Dave asked with all the potential main events on this show if he knew which one he was going with) in a Cheshire cat way that came off as a non-confirmation confirmation of the Bryan rumors. Coffey
I've thought about All Out a lot & I know most people are excited for pretty much the same matches & most people are disinterested in pretty much the same matches as well. However, that being said, while at work tonight I was thinking about the Paul Wight Vs. QT Marshall match. I don't think anyone is clamoring for this match nor is anyone wanting it to go long. That being said, I was thinking if Wight has one WCW-style Chokeslam left in him, instead of the safer, WWE style that he was doing the last several years, I would really mark out for that. He used to dunk people like a damn basketball & when he was The Giant, that move was like one of the most over finishes in all of wrestling during one of the biggest times in all of wrestling. That's saying something! Without him, you don't get 911 in ECW doing the Chokeslam, or Undertaker & Kane adding it to their moveset, etc. ONE TIME! C'MON, ONE TIME! El-P
This will be the greatest night in the history of our sport. Young Bucks vs Lucha Brothers is gonna steal the show with its insanity. Omega is gonna have yet another MOTYC single match with yet another different kind of opponent, further establishing him as the GOAT (at this point, it's either him or Tanahashi). Mox vs Kojima are gonna beat the hell out of each other. Ditto Kingston & Miro, whose hot wife is gonna show up. QT is gonna take an awesome bump, because he's a terrific performer (and a great trainer to boot). Jericho's career is legit in doubt to me, so there will be one great false finish. Britt Baker is gonna have the second biggest entrance pop of the night. CM Punk is gonna have the biggest entrance pop of the night. You know who that is is gonna show up in the women's battle royal. Orange Cassidy & Jungle Boy are gonna kill it to open the show. Yes ! Yes ! Yes ! More or less. I'm so gonna avoid any spoilers with this one. Stiva
I am beyond ready for The Elite to be shuffled out of the title scenes so I’m desperately pulling for Lucha Bros in the cage. Everything else should be good, at the least. Even QT/Wight will probably work for setting up what’s coming next for Wight
sek69
I would say it's pretty much a lock the Lucha Bros are winning unless something unforeseen happens. Also Rey Fenix + that tall ass AEW cage is going to result in some insane spots.

The period in 1996 between Uncensored and BATB had basically every other week where Giant would just chokeslam 3-6 guys in a row, laying out each time with them, and it was awesome every single time. KawadaSmile
Isn't that version of the chokeslam death for his knees, tho? Might as well just KO punch him into oblivion, but it should absolutely be a 1-hit KO regardless. I'm stoked for Kingston vs Miro. Their promo package sold me on that in less than a minute. Fucking Eddie, an excellent talker. Also, it will be fun to see the result of Punk vs Allin. If Punk does the job here, he is absolutely going to use that in the future as justification to not do a job. On the other hand, Punk winning would be a nice moment. Jmare007
Dave is saying Omega vs Christian is closing the show. Good.
Timbo Slice
That actually means Danielson is closing the show. So even better.
C.S.
I've been talking up Christian for months and talking down PAC for years. On this show, Christian is in the main event and PAC is nowhere to be found (hope he's okay if it's Covid though!), so I put my money where my mouth is and ordered it. Its weird not rolling my eyes and desiring to scream “CALL HIM BY HIS STAGE NAME!” Though watch him say “Bryan Danielson is Brie Danielson’s husband and Birdie Joe’s and Buddy Dessert’s father. In AEW I’m only known as “American Dragon! Nothing else!” Therefore giving me license to keep being a “that guy” when it comes to nitpicky things like what randos on message boards/other platforms refer to wrestling “characters” as! Drove me crazy when people on PWO referred to Andrade as Sombra for years afterward (to use one example), while I'd be thinking: "No, he's no longer Sombra and hasn't been for a very long time. Get with it, people!!!"

Thinking about it now, since “Daniel Bryan” is essentially what Michael Shawn Hickenbottom did for a stage name, would it shock anyone that he was able to wrest control of his WWE branded character name, and so THAT’S who he is when he shows up? Tenese Sarwieh
I know Darby can take the loss but it would be a sight if he goes over Punk tonight. All Out has the makings of being a show of the year contender.
Jimmy Redman
Guys if I can figure out Fite TV after a night shift, I might actually purchase this show. I've never spent money on a live non-WWE show in my life. I don't even watch wrestling anymore!

I hope they go with classic puro booking and have the guy who hasn't been working for years lose. It would also give Punk motivation kayfabe wise. But to be honest, as long as they don't do a fuck finish, I'd be happy.

No. I don't think you sign the biggest free agent in all of pro wrestling, have him back in pro wrestling for the first time in seven years, show up & redebut in one of the biggest moments in wrestling & then on his first PPV - which a lot of people are buying this show for him - and immediately have him lose. That would be exceptionally bone headed.

Sign up at https://www.fite.tv/ (or log in if you already have an account), look for AEW All Out 2021, click to pay (I used PayPal), and then you might need to log out of the site and then back in again for the purchase to show up there. (It showed up without any issues on my Roku and phone app.) Here's hoping streaming the actual show will be smooth sailing...
NintendoLogic
I went ahead and pulled the trigger. This is the first PPV of any kind I've ordered since Double or Nothing 2020. The problem with Punk/Darby is that there is no optimal outcome. You either job out the biggest returning star in years in his hometown or you have your hottest homegrown act lose to a WWE guy who hasn't wrestled in seven years. Or you do a fuck finish that pisses everyone off.

sek69
I think Darby is going to go so balls out that people won't mind the outcome. I don't think he should be losing right now but losing to Punk in his first match in 7 years (in Chicago!) wouldn't hurt him.
KawadaSmile
Gonna watch it tomorrow, but I guess Christian vs Omega as the main event in the end IS the correct choice. Better build, longer storyline... Punk came back two weeks ago and it's his first match in seven fucking years. Let Allin bump around him like a madman and have an easy night. The one thing that could happen is the crowd being burned out or turning on the main event, but that's it.
