jdw Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 I'm always a fan of the "I Stopped Talking Because Of You Asshats!!!!" concept. John
FLIK Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 http://www.rspwfaq.com/2011/09/16/my-william-shatner-moment/ very professional and kind why would Scott let this be posted on a primarily wrestling themed site? this is coming from the same man who said you were retarded if you liked HHH/Taker at Mania and spot by spot critiqued the match Also the same guy who proclaimed that Gordy slamming the cage door on Kerry's head (you know, the angle that set WCCW on fire) was a horrible booking idea. Who the heck is Charlie Reneke?
MikeCampbell Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 http://www.rspwfaq.com/2011/09/21/fcw-ftw/ Well Scott has half right. Seth Rollins IS a pretty bad sounding ring name. But it's not TAFKA Tyler Black's real name (it's actually Colby Lopez).
Strummer Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 I like how Scott tries reviewing RAW and the other shows once every few years and then goes right back to being ostracized wrestling fan. From his recent tone it's only a matter of time before he quits again. He just can't seem to ever give it up all together
Mad Dog Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 I kind of understand that to a degree. Every 2 or 3 years, I sit down and tell myself that I'm going to sit down and enjoy one of the various WWE shows or TNA. My recent bout with TNA lasted about 4 months. I just get that itch and realize that the idea is better than actually going through the episodes.
Al Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 From the Raw review: Solid enough tag match when Ryan wasn’t in there. Seriously, this guy is AWFUL and if they book him against Ziggler at the PPV it’s gonna be a disaster . He has zero timing out there and moves like a bull in the proverbial china shop. Obviously writers have the right to review wrestling shows and offer criticism. But I think a writer treads into deep water when they start critiquing wrestlers at this level. It feels ripe for the "you've never wrestled" line of attack, and I think there's some validity to it.
Mad Dog Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 I disagree. You don't have to step into the ring to know when a guy is totally clueless out there.
Bix Posted December 16, 2011 Author Report Posted December 16, 2011 http://www.rspwfaq.com/2011/12/16/brad-armstrong/ a famously improvised **** match with Great Muta on WCW Saturday NightI give up.
S.L.L. Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 http://www.rspwfaq.com/2011/12/16/brad-armstrong/ a famously improvised **** match with Great Muta on WCW Saturday NightI give up. That line has been in the FAQ forever, and I've always wondered about it. And by "wondered about it", I mean "was there actually a match between these two that he's thinking of, or did he just pull it out of his ass", because I've never seen this "famous" match referred to by anyone else ever.
Loss Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 The match happened and was on the 1992 Yearbook, but yeah, I think that's something he made up or decided was true or something -- I don't know. But he has been running with it for years. (The match is dreadfully boring, by the way.)
sek69 Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 It seemed to come from his amazement that a Japanese guy and someone from the Southern US were capable of any means of communication.
Ditch Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 I could have sworn it was Liger, not Muta.
Bix Posted December 17, 2011 Author Report Posted December 17, 2011 Both had WCWSN matches with Armstrong during that period. I'm not sure if the Liger match was 2/3 falls, though.
Loss Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 It was like a 10-minute match, but SK always referred to the Muta match as being this remarkable example of improv.
Mad Dog Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 It seemed to come from his amazement that a Japanese guy and someone from the Southern US were capable of any means of communication. Weird side note to this. I have always assumed that Japanese wrestlers called their matches in English. Liger is very verbal in his matches and he almost always calls stuff out in English. I know I've heard other guys use English during matches too.
sek69 Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 It was like a 10-minute match, but SK always referred to the Muta match as being this remarkable example of improv. I wonder what the odds are the SK has even seen the match, or did someone just tell him it was the greatest thing ever and he ran with it?
MikeCampbell Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 I wonder what the odds are the SK has even seen the match, or did someone just tell him it was the greatest thing ever and he ran with it? Most likely the latter. I was so looking forward to seeing this when I got Will's Brad Armstrong comp, to say I was disappointed would be an understatement.

Not sure you should be including dreadfully boring matches, unless they're historically relevant in the yearbook, though I understand the thought process behind it.

El-P Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 For all the talks of "Brad Amstrong is underrated" over the years, I find Brad Armstrong actually quite a bit overrated.
sek69 Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 For all the talks of "Brad Amstrong is underrated" over the years, I find Brad Armstrong actually quite a bit overrated. Actually, I think he's pretty accurately rated. He certainly had good matches, but I've never seen anything to suggest they should have been pushing him any further than he was.

Actually, I think he's pretty accurately rated. He certainly had good matches, but I've never seen anything to suggest they should have been pushing him any further than he was. I agree with this. Never struck me as someone who deserved a much bigger push. I don't think I've seen a Brad Armstrong match as good as the best Tito stuff for instance. I meant overrated by people who think he was underrated and deserved more, which seems to be the consensus (maybe I'm wrong about that though). Super solid mechanically, but not the guy you'd have a great match with. Perfect to make other look good.
tigerpride Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 Dogg’s intros during this match were as awkward as a mullet discussion on Meltzer’s radio show (sorry, Cactusbix, but it’s that kinda show, and you were RIGHT THERE waiting to be targeted…). (He deserves the mocking anyway.) Poor Bix.

tigerpride Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 SK reposted his Wrestlemania XV rant, which includes that line.
