  1. Been watching this shit for over 50yrs. Always viewed it as a sport. I don't over analyze it because it's rasslin. It was more fun back in the 70's and early 80's. It was rowdy as hell at times at the houseshows. It had character. I still watch for the most part. Only problem I have is a problem with what is considered a pro wrestler today. I stay away from the sheets. That shit is soap opera digest. If I got caught up in that it woulda killed my interest.
  2. I think he's head and shoulders above his boys as a worker. Only Kerry coulda (shoulda) topped him.
  3. Kris Z. Your booking is top notch. I'm really enjoying following along.
  4. Clean victory over Cena in Dallas is what should happen. A clean victory over a semi-heel Rock wouldn't hurt either. Depending how they handle Lesnar in terms of this Taker bs? That rematch is a no brainer. He doesn't really need rebuilding. The majority of fans have short term memories. A lot go hot and cold in terms of who and what they want.
  5. Only goin with who I believe will be full time. Reigns, Rollins, Ambrose, Wyatt, Owens.
  6. Listed in no particular order. Ray Stevens & Pat Patterson Dick Murdoch & Dusty Rhodes Ole Anderson & Gene Anderson Terry Funk & Dory Funk Jr. Jack Brisco & Jerry Brisco Dick Slater & Bob Orton Jr. Ric Flair & Greg Valentine Buddy Roberts & Terry Gordy (Michael Hayes) Ricky Steamboat & Jay Youngblood Bob Armstrong & Brad Armstrong Stan Lane & Steve Keirn Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden Ted Dibiase & Steve Williams Danny Davis & Ken Wayne Arn Anderson & Ole Anderson Jerry Lawler & Bill Dundee Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard Chavo Guerrero & Hector Guerrero Stan Lane & Bobby Eaton Tom Pritchard & Jimmy Del Ray Stan Hansen & Genichiro Tenryu Ron Simmons & Butch Reed
  7. NXT delivered from where I was sittin. Just a great show. I'm not a fan of Bayley in kayfabe terms so I wanted Sasha to whoop her ass. But from a non-kayfabe pov I was happy for the lady. Damn fine wrestling. Happy Breeze lost to Liger. Can't stand Breeze and think his gimmick dies in a dumpster fire on RAW. Vaudvillains have rubbed off on me. Gotch is solid. Corbin is in the wrong gimmick. Has upside though. Samoa Joe is a nice toll collector for NXT. I think Apollo Crews will be a cash cow if guided right. Balor has so much promotional appeal it's not even funny. Kevin Owens is a staple for years to come.
  8. Can someone point me to some matches in regards to the Geico spoof dude above?
  9. I preferred the NXT show by a country mile for a variety of reasons. The Brock/Taker finish pissed me the fuck off really bad. Never cared for Taker. Never bought into his bullshit deadman gimmick. Guy comes across as a real wanna be tough guy with something to prove and it bugs my ass. Fuck him. Fuck Vince for bookin that shit. Outta touch old fucker.
  10. Buzz Sawyer
  11. In my top 25 for sure. They're underrated. The entire GCCW/SECW/CCW/CWF is vastly underrated as well.
  12. No way.
  13. I'm a big Dibiase fan prior to his WWF run. In WWF the character was entertaining and he was solid. But WWF wrestling at the time was far from my wheelhouse in terms of enjoyment. In my opinion it's mostly crap. As for Savage. Big fan of the Macho Man more so prior to WWF. But still a fan of him in WWF. Really the entire persona. But I could never give him a WOTY for any year.
  14. Agree Flair is tough to beat for any of these. I personally could go Flair 1980-86+89. Still give Windham 87. I won't give Flair 88 and give it to Lawler off of a recent watch. I wasn't seeing Flair live in 81 and 82 like prior years. I have a very strong feeling though that Flair 82 would be the right choice. The list of opponents is incredible. I gave Hansen 86 after a run through. I haven't watched Flair in 86 because I watched it live in real time and went to a lot of shows. I was 27 and 28 and was havin a blast. I might change 86 after a re-watch. Maybe it's a 'guilt' reflex on my part because I've been watching Flair for so long and don't want to play home team to much. But he could easily take 80-86+89. After 89 it's very tough for me to give Flair the nod. He has some great matches though. Wrestler of the decade no doubt.
  15. Work aside. Some of the unprofessional bullshit he's pulled during a match I can't get over. The Vader match comes to mind. Had I been Vader I woulda knocked the piss outta him and walked. I also can't stand the gum chewing too. I could swear I've seen him 'knocked cold' and he's chewin gum. Shithead. I know Hogan was/is a pain in the ass but that match was ridiculous. Had I dropped a buck on that I woulda found him myself and had him open his wallet. Leave that crap behind the curtain.
  16. JVK. Your Love of Jr. is incredible. You have made a tremendous effort here. Been fun reading it. You outta be an honorary Funk Brother. Dory Funk Jr., Terry Funk, and Jerry Von Funk. Jesse Barr can GTFO.
  17. I'll go as far as rating the All-Japan natives like this. Tenryu-Tsuruta-Kawada-Misawa-Kobashi-Taue-Baba.
  18. Austin as easy as an ice chest full of Coors after mowin the ranch on a Saturday. The only other guy in WWE's Universe who is more overrated is the Undertakacrapper.
  19. Barry Windham was fantastic in 1987. The team with Ron Garvin facing off with Condrey & Eaton. He has 6-mans with Morton & Gibson vs. Condrey, Eaton, and Rogers. Hell he even teams with Hector Guerrero vs. Condrey and Eaton. He has matches vs. Anderson and Blanchard as well. Then the GREAT Flair series. He also has matches vs. Luger in the Spring into the early Summer. Much of this stuff happened in the Winter and Spring. By Summer he is working Rogers and has the Murdoch match. Woulda loved to have seen his match with Chris Adams. He continues working Anderson a bit plus matches with Fernandez, Gilbert, Steiner, Bart, and even Murdoch. There are more Midnight matches too vs. Lane and Eaton. I'm gonna put together my results for him in 1987. He has a fair amount of tape. Thing is I saw a lot of him live in 87. I will put those matches out there as well. June 15, 1987 in Greensboro, NC he faced Blanchard. He shoulda won the TV Title period. They also have a match from Lakeland, FL on July 1, 1987 that was taped for NWA Southern Pro where he faces Blanchard. He shoulda won it there. No Western-States shit. All I know is he was the in-ring MVP of JCP in 87 from where I was sittin. In the recliner, barstool, and arena he delivered.
  20. Owens for many of the reasons others have already stated. Rusev isn't finished as a spoke in the wheel that is WWE. Ya can go in a lot of directions with the guy. I'd actually go the man with NO country route. Get rid of those two clowns they have with Rollins and put Rusev in a suit as Rollins enforcer by hire. Opens a lot of angles and match-ups.
  21. Monday Nights wouldn't be a problem if they didn't have Thursday Nights too. They get paid to produce both obviously. To bad they aren't in a position to cancel Thursday Nights and still keep the contract in place. This would allow them to produce more for the Network and have Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays off too.
  22. Barry Windham
  23. Butch Reed is a guy I'm very high on. He will be on my list for sure. Where I don't know yet. But Reed is a guy who I believe coulda been the NWA Champion when JCP took control of the title. The stars woulda had to lined up just right. But had I been calling the shots I woulda guided Reed the very best I could to stay on the straight and maintain a main event career. He coulda been great as a JCP (national) standout. He was a fantastic face and heel. A little example of his early run vs. Flair in Florida and Georgia. Plus St. Louis and Mid-South shots. What an education 02/18/82 Tampa, FL (TV) Reed over Flair 03/11/82 Tampa, FL (TV) Reed over Flair 03/16/82 Tampa, FL Reed & Sugar over Flair & Funk (Terry) 03/18/82 Jacksonville, FL Reed (ddq) vs. Flair 03/27/82 St. Petersburg, FL Flair (dq) over Reed 04/07/82 Miami, FL Flair over Reed 04/17/82 Sarasota, FL Flair over Reed 05/10/82 West Palm Beach, FL Flair over Reed 05/11/82 Tampa, FL Flair (60:00) draw vs. Reed 07/11/82 Orlando, FL Flair (dq) over Reed 07/12/82 West Palm Beach, FL Flair (dq-47:28) over Reed 07/15/82 Jacksonville, FL Flair (dq) over Reed 07/17/82 Ft. Myers, FL Flair (60:00) draw vs. Reed 07/17/82 Orlando, FL Flair (60:00) draw vs. Reed 07/25/82 Orlando, FL Flair (Cage Match) over Reed 07/26/82 West Palm Beach, FL Flair (46:39) over Reed 07/29/82 Jacksonville, FL Flair over Reed 09/20/82 West Palm Beach, FL Flair (Cage Match) over Reed 09/23/82 Jacksonville, FL Flair (draw) vs. Reed 10/23/82 Sarasota, FL Flair over Reed 12/03/82 St. Louis, MO Reed & Bruiser over Flair & Blackwell 01/01/83 St. Louis, MO Flair (60:00-2/3 falls draw vs. Reed 01/22/83 Atlanta, GA (TV) Reed over Flair 01/23/83 Atlanta, GA Reed over Flair 01/24/83 Charleston, WV Flair (dq) over Reed 01/29/83 Columbus, OH Flair (dq) 0ver Reed 07/15/83 St. Louis, MO Flair (Missouri Title Tourney) over Reed Instead of jumping to Mid-South Reed may have been better served to hit Carolina first. One thing that hurt Reed in Mid-South was heeling vs. Dog. I loved Reed as a heel but the fans in New Orleans and the rest of the region saw him maybe as a guy ya couldn't trust. If ya could see into the future and knew Dog was goin to up and lave then ya never want Reed in a program vs. Dog. 06/24/85 New Orleans, LA Flair (reverse decision) over Reed 08/10/85 New Orleans, LA Flair (No dq) over Reed 10/11/85 Houston, TX Flair (dq) over Reed 11/06/85 Shreveport, LA (TV) Reed (6:02) over Flair 11/25/85 Jackson, MS Flair (dq) over Reed 03/06/86 Kansas City, KS Reed vs. Flair I feel JCP shoulda done what ever they could to make a play for Reed in 86. I woulda done whatever it took to help the guy. I saw soooo0 much in him early on. I'm definitely gonna be adding more in regards to Reed. Although there's not much left.
  24. Was the angle circa 1980 from the KTBS studio with Hayes, Kahn, and Dibiase included as an extra on this set? Just checked it out on youtube and it's fabulous. It's under Best of Mid-South/UWF angles. It runs about 1-1/2 hrs. Has a lot of fantastic stuff. Kahn is presented like a killer and Michael Hayes is FABULOUS. (Pun intended)
  25. Diamond Dallas Page and Goldberg were the only homegrown guys WCW booked from the ground up who got Main Event over. Goldberg is the obvious winner in this regard, These were the two guys on the roster who were the immediate future as in 1998 forward for WCW. Others needed to be added of course. As far as who they were already on the roster I'd have a lot of thinking to do in regards cause I don't want to go back and watch. Maybe it's someone who's not on the roster? As for La Parka. They coulda made some money off the guy. Especially in the Merch department around the Fall with Halloween and all. WCW needed to think more about the Latino pop and use it to draw South Texas and West of. Especially California. WCW was fuckin stupid from day 1 though. They fucked outta the gate. Bottom line is WCW didn't have anyone within power who was carnie enough or had a wiseguy logic in dealing with Hogan. As in drowning him out. Along with the other shit like Nash. WCW needed to subtract before they added and promoted for there present and future.
