The Taskmaster and his Dungeon of shite
MikeCampbell replied to Judy Bagwell's topic in Pro Wrestling
No, because Hogan sent his good friend Brother Bruti (who had betrayed him the year before, mind you) into the DOD as a secret spy! -
6:05 Superpodcast Episode #6 - Stop the Murder
MikeCampbell replied to Bix's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Bix, I liked this one even more the the Cornette episode.. -
Before we all get too excited about Nakamura. Let's not forget when the WWE supposedly signed Averno. . . . . .

Something that just came to mind. When the heart attack angle does come up, you should at least mention the fact that Kevin has adamantly denied (for years now) that they never planned for the angle to go that way. They were just supposed to attack Fritz to add more heat to the latest redux of Freebirds/Von Erichs. But, when Fritz collapsed, the fans just jumped to that conclusion and it blew up (again, according to Kevin)

The first two things that popped into my head were the Fritz heart attack angle, and the autographed pics of David. The Larry Sweeney/Bobby Dempsey/Alison Danger "Ring of On-Her" angle deserves mention as well.

Does the Briscoes and Yano teaming up mean that Jay and Mark are part of CHAOS? If they do sign A.J. I wonder if he gets to keep his name, seeing as he's got the huge tattoo on his stomach.

I don't see the big deal in Colby getting a spot. The whole point of the TPT, in theory, is that these young and hungry wrestlers full of P&V want to prove themselves and earn a spot in ROH. Colby fits the bill of a young wrestler, who hasn't really had a chance to show what he can do yet. So what's the problem?

Saturday Night's Main Event Appreciation
MikeCampbell replied to The Following Contest's topic in Pro Wrestling
I'm sure that I saw the one with HTM shoving Liz, butI don't distinctly remember watching it as a youngster. But I definitely remember the following show. Steele/Davis, Hogan/Sika (probably the earliest that I can recall the business being exposed, with that stupid spot where Hogan tries to running headlock Sika into the post, only to get pushed in himself), and Savage/Hart with Randy's big bump to the floor. My grandfather would occasionally tape it, when it was on (Hogan vs Bad News) and I once watched it the next day at a neighbor's house (Brainbusters' title win). When I got a little older, my dad would let me stay up to watch starting with the Jan/Feb 1990 with the Hogan/Warrior angle. When I was nine and it moved to Fox starting at 8:00, it just wasn't the same. -
1984 was Mid South's best year for business, so that's the short answer, which others already covered in great detail. What I think is getting slept on though, is how much better a deal that Watts got in the talent trade with Jarrett. Watts got Bobby and Dennis, Ricky and Robert, Terry Taylor, and Bill Dundee. All of whom already had at least five years experience and were developed as workers. Cornette only had about a year, but he'd had the chance to work in Georgia as well as work with, and learn from, Jimmy Hart, so he wasn't fresh off the boat or anything. Jarrett did some good stuff with Rude, but he was a few years away from becoming a good worker. Neither Higgins or Neidhart ever got very good. Denton and Anthony's Memphis run was rather unremarkable compared to how the rest of their careers panned out, and they were back with Watts by 1985.

Why wouldn't Vince want to avoid a potential headache? Bret is still the top babyface when he's dropping the title. If Nash flops, what other options does he have? Lex was damaged goods. Bulldog, Razor and Kid aren't on that level. UT is over, but not very good in the ring. And now Vince has pissed off Bret by making him put over King Kong Bundy (just for instance, I have no idea how Bret felt about him), to start up the failed Diesel experiment. So, Bret is now pissed and wants to head down South or just sit out the contract. Or, Vince can just let Bret have his way, knowing that it's a few days and if something goes wrong, he has Bret to pick up the pieces.

Hogan went to Japan and worked the 5/3 Dontaku show. He gave a rather infamous interview trashing (proverbially, not literally like Madusa) the WWF Title, and calling it a toy and trinket. It's not on Youtube, but I know I've seen it somewhere.

The Jim Cornette Experience
MikeCampbell replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
JC addressed this on his last podcast. He had apologized to Alice for making her uncomfortable, and admitted that he was purposely overdoing it to make for entertaining radio and to mess with her. He didn't have anything negative to say about her, which means that he must not have heard the I Quit podcast. She didn't mention him by name, but made mention of dealing with 'closet racists' and also only named MVP and Alex Greenfield as people she had nothing negative to say about. I listened to the Muslim rant again tonight, and there are a few times that you can tell that Jim is trying to have a little fun. -

I think it's gone. She took down the entire RWR site and every link I can find winds up being dead. -
The Jim Cornette Experience
MikeCampbell replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Alice put up her side of the story on RWR in a six minute podcast called "I Quit." The combo of Jim's Muslim rant, dealing with assholes on social media, and the fact that nobody listened to RWR even though that was her true passion, caused her to decide enough was enough. -
Just throwing this out there: Does anyone think they have the balls to try to fully get behind Reigns as a top babyface, by turning Cena heel to wrestle him at 'Mania?
-
Technically, they have all of 1993 through 1995 and the second RAW of 1996 and are working through 2000. But, the 1/1/96 RAW Bowl is still missing.
-
I'm surprised to see that the RAW with the Radicalz debut got to see the light of day. Watch the Christian vs. D-Von match and drink everytime JR says uses the adjective 'damn' to describe the Dudleys.

The whole Lawler/Dundee saga from the 10/19 Memphis TV.

It's criminal that this one is getting slept on. I just watched the Flair/Wahoo/Tully angle the other night, where Tully sucker punches Flair, and Flair gets in Wahoo's face about not helping him, and Wahoo pretty much tells Flair that since Tully had given Wahoo a shot at the title he holds, that he had no problem with Tully. Flair: You want a title shot, you got it! Wahoo: Show me a contract, I know how to write!

Why wouldn't Bret trust Vince on a handshake deal? Vince wouldn't go back on his word to Bret. . . .

With all the Starrcade events being available in the PPV section, even the ones that predated PPV. I hope to see Crockett Cups and Superstars on the Superstation get added too.
