Tim Evans Posted July 10, 2011 Report Posted July 10, 2011 Wasn't Slinger Terry Gordy's cousin or something like that?
cm funk Posted July 10, 2011 Report Posted July 10, 2011 Hayes had been head writer on SD for yrs, and I have generally been a fan of the show. Considering they have to reboot every year when raw poaches their talent, but at the same time, they probably get more freedom being the b show...
Ditch Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 Slinger was a 'good hand' who never amounted to anything and was a life-long loss post. I don't think anyone really has an opinion of him because he was so rarely in a match that could amount to anything.
smkelly Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 I've never seen his name pop up in any notably singles matches either. IIRC, only six-man gaijin vs. native matches.

sek69 Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 Saw this listed on cubsfan's site as part of the results from the latest AAA TV taping: Â 1) Mickie James & Sexy Star b Fabi Apache & Mari Apache Mickie kissed & DDT Mari this time, compared Mari to a cow, and challenged for the Reina de Reinas title. Â That amused me, considering all the hand-wringing over "LayCool calls Mickie fat" from a while back.
Mad Dog Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 It looks like Slinger has one SMW appearance as his only notable U.S. appearance. Â Night of Legends August 5, 1994 in Knoxville, TN Civic Coliseum drawing 5,000 ($40,000) Â Chris Walker pinned Richard Slinger. Looking on IVP, if you look at the 1994 Best of All Japan set, it looks like he was in a few singles matches that year. It looks like he made a little noise in the Asunaro Cup Tournament. Looking it up, he finished third in that tournament.
Ditch Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 Any Slinger singles matches on TV would have been clipped to hell. I certainly don't recall any.
Mad Dog Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 I had to dig quite a bit to find singles matches on DVDs. In the Best of 94 DVDs I found singles matches against Tamon Honda and Ryukaku Izumida.
Ditch Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 No way are those more than a couple minutes each.
Coffey Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 The TNA PPV Destination-X last night actually wasn't bad. A few finishes I wasn't a big fan of (never really liked roll-up finishes) and a bad Abyss/Immortal segment, but all-in-all, worth watching. The contract match was a lot of fun.
rovert Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 Lance Russell & Dave Brown will reunite on 7/22 at the Orpheum Theater in Memphis for a 7 p.m. showing of the documentary "Memphis Heat: The True Story of Memphis Wrasslin." Jerry Jarrett will also be there signing autographs for his new autobiography. By the way, if anyone has read Jarrett's book, let me know what you thought of it. Wish I lived in Memphis
shoe Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 Slinger worked some tags and 6 mans against the Fantastics is SMW in 92.
Matt D Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 I know it's a longshot but does any footage exist of the Johnny Valentine/Buddy Rogers team? Â Because that sounds amazing. Anyone know if it was a longtime thing or not. Wikipedia tells me they feuded with the Kangaroos a bit and had the WWWF US Tag belts for about a week in 1960.
Cox Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 Slinger worked some tags and 6 mans against the Fantastics is SMW in 92.I think you're thinking of Billy Black and Joel Deaton. I haven't seen Slinger in any of the '92 SMW I've watched.
rovert Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 Jeff Katz and Paul Heyman's vocal patterns are scarily similar.

Victator Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 I watched the match where the Gladiators lost to the Mulkeys. What impressed me was Gary Royal and George South for that brief moment did a perfect job aping the Road Warriors. They really seemed like ass kickers. Giving them War Machine was a nice touch.

Memphis wrestling is pretty well-known here in Louisville. Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll hit a theater here.
Ditch Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 http://www.whosay.com/DwayneJohnson/videos/46340 Â Rock rips Cena waaaaaay worse than Punk. Though it's kinda unfair when he can go online and swear but Cena has to be PG. Â Interesting that he says he'll be returning at MSG, which is Survivor Series. That'll be the 15th anny of his WWF debut at MSG, also Survivor Series.
rovert Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 Yeah this is the second time Rock brought a gun to a rock fight with Punk.
