Mad Dog
I really like how they use O'Reilly and Fish on their shows. Dominate tag team but guys they'll throw out there to have good matches and job to established singles talent. I think it's smart booking, doesn't hurt your champs and gets some good matches out there. My favorite acts so far have been the Briscoes, Silas Young and Romantic Touch. Young seems to work an anti-indy style which is a nice change of pace. Good character, seems to get heat pretty effortlessly and isn't afraid to just get people to hate him. I didn't care for the Briscoes for a long time but it feels like they've evolved the last couple of years. It feels like they work a more big league style of match now with minimal indy stupidity. I like how Mark makes everyone he wrestles look good and how he can work to other people's strengths while leaving his distinct impression on the match from start to finish. I totally agree with you on reDragon. They're like a modern day Tully and Arn. Where they can be tag champions. Though when need be have good matches with an assortment of baby faces like Ron Garvin, Windham, and Luger.

shoe
I'd like to watch some O'Reilly singles matches. Any recommendations? vs AJ Styles 8/22/14 vs. Roderick Strong 2/21/
SomethingSavage
The "Hybrid Fighting Rules" match between O'Reilly and Cole is probably worth scoping out, too. It's the one with Cole losing his front teeth & bleeding buckets from the mouth for a few minutes at the end there. Not the best in terms of storytelling or structure, but it's a heck of a fight. They both bring the stiffness and unleash some brutal strikes. It's the match that helped (eventually) elevate both, but it especially helped to launch Cole's singles career afterwards. Zoo Enthusiast
He just got his lip busted, I believe, but yeah - was great. His singles run in PWG has also been very good, IMO.
Blehschmidt
Almost all of O'Reilly's run with the PWG title is worth watching.
Grimmas
I'm loving the Silas Young love in this thread! He is so good and should be pushed to the top.
Steenalized
Glad to see the Silas love here too, he's my favorite guy at AAW shows when I've made it and that indy feels like his home turf. At the ROH show I went to last spring in Chicago he was more over than his push because of the AAW fandom crossover.
van_Fair
Silas probably has the best gimmick in wrestling right now. Just a great package all around. My only knock on him is that I wish he would stop doing that turnbuckle headstand flippy thing as his finisher. It seems really inconsistent with his character.
Steenalized
That I agree 100% with, even if it is generic I would rather see him use a stiff lariat or something like that.
SomethingSavage
I'm in this to jump aboard the Silas bandwagon. Been a big fan of the guy, going back to his title reigns in AAW. He was pretty much doing the same shtick then that is helping to get him noticed now, and it's just tremendous. Yeah. Not sure why he's always been hellbent on sticking that flippy corner spot into ALL his matches, but it's a staple for him. Guess he just wants people to know he's athletic, but yeah. Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean ya always should. And, as it's been mentioned, it's actually detrimental in this specific case, because it takes away a bit from what his character is supposed to stand for & represent anyhow. A lariat would suit him well. Even if they don't play up the "Stan Hansen's nephew" rumor as a gimmick, I wish they'd put some effort into establishing the lariat as a credible finish for him. They could steal a page from Adam Pearce's "One Last Ride" days in Hollywood - where he was using creative setups to "lure" guys into the path of his lariat. And then they put it over like a million bucks by having victims "bleed" from the ears and suffer "busted eardrums" afterwards. Good stuff. On a similar note, I wish to hell that Ciampa would find a new finisher for himself also. The Powerbomb setup for a basic backbreaker is clunky & contrived. Not only that, but you've already got both Roddy Strong and Cedric Alexander busting out badass backbreakers for finishes, up and down the same cards. It's just too much. Truth be told? The way it looks when he lands it, the backbreaker should hurt Ciampa's own knees and shins more than anything. Just a goofy indy move, in my honest opinion. It's something that's meant to look "innovative", but in all honesty... it's just stupid.
Steenalized
Is it just a rumor or is he really Hansen's nephew? I've always heard that he was but at the same time, I never seem him pushes as Hansen's nephew either. He is Silas Young and not Silas Hansen. The "Peegee Waja Plunge" or whatever it's called, uncertain of the spelling, is so out of place for Silas. Get him a better finish and he'll be about perfect at what he is. bradhindsight
Silas is returning this weekend and is in the ROH Proving Ground: Instant Reward match where the winner gets Jay in the main event (Sydal had that slot but is hurt). The Thread Killer
As I mentioned in the TNA thread, Spike has confirmed that they are having very preliminary conversations with ROH. Interesting. One of the things Viacom did for TNA was hire talents like Sting, who Panda Energy could not afford, yes? If ROH signed a deal with Spike, I wonder if Viacom would help them build the roster? Or would Viacom want to buy the whole deal from Sinclair? Would Sinclair be willing to have some sort of co-ownership deal with Viacom?

Or would Viacom want to buy the whole deal from Sinclair? Would Sinclair be willing to have some sort of co-ownership deal with Viacom? Here is the article that mentions that: http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/other/ultimate_fighting/2015/03/cable_network_expands_on_fight_game Finally, we wondered with Spike in preliminary discussions with a pro wrestling outfit called Ring of Honor, whether the staged sport — with its predetermined outcomes — would fit the “Friday Night Lights Out” theme. “I’m not sure there is a deal there,” he [spike TV President Kevin Kay] said. “We’re just kind of getting to know each other. . . . I think for Spike, the big question is, do we want to get into the professional wrestling business in any way? And I don’t have the answer to that yet. “I don’t know that we’re going to do anything there, but if we do something, it’s probably not part of ‘Friday Night Lights Out.’ We want to keep that for real sports. Judging by that, it doesn't sound likely that Spike would invest in ROH has heavily as they did with TNA. It sounds like the a major barrier is whether they even want to do any pro wrestling programming at all. It would take a big leap for them to go from that point to investing all sorts of capital into ROH. Also, the WON has been reporting that the talks center on monthly (or less frequent) televised specials. That does not sound like a scenario where Spike TV would get heavily involved in funding the promotion. From ROH’s standpoint, a deal with Spike makes a ton of sense. ROH is on Sinclair stations in roughly 40% of the country. That TV exposure has clearly helped them draw at live events but it is still only 40% of the country. They also have an issue where they aren’t maximizing their non-live viewership. In 2015, $45 for HD PPV’s is a limited market. VOD is still a rather limited market. They are (rightfully so) shy of doing iPPV’s given their past issues in that realm. They are putting on these live shows that are doing well at the gate and are getting good reviews, but there is only so much exposure they can get with VOD/DVD sales and/or airing some of those matches on TV. This would be an almost perfect solution that problem. It would give them a legitimate outlet to air one show a month while also providing an outlet to shill the VOD/DVD/TV stuff to a nationwide cable audience. It’s a big missing piece to their current puzzle.
shoe
The ROH tv this week was really good. We had 2 really good tag matches in the Addiction vs. ACH/Sydal and the Young Bucks vs The Kingdom. Having the KRD play into both finishes is overkill unless they tie it all together. Addiction/Kingdom team up? I liked Jay Briscoe's promo, then Samoa Joe's promo was good as well. Not giving Jay a retort to Joe kinda made Joe come across as a bigger deal. Then we get a Jimmy Jacobs promo which was really good to set up a match next week with Jay. Overall, a really good show that you should seek out.
KrisZ
Totally agree...Bucks vs Kingdom was very solid and the announcing for this was worlds better than the PPV. The Jacobs promo made way more sense considering the news that dropped about him yesterday.
Jesse Ewiak
Honestly, if Spike just put in enough money to get ROH up to TNA production values in 2009 or 2010, that'd be a big victory for them.
soup23
Really enjoyed the Kingdom main event tag. They are really starting to win me over as a team as they have some good heel tendencies as long as Taven tones down the babyface dives and flashy offense. They work really well now in filling out a card. Opener was fun too. We will see how ROH responds to Joe coming and going and the latest batch of rumors of people leaving for NXT. They have been gaining good momentum this year minus some missteps at the PPV.
