goodhelmet Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 Hey check it out... I think me claiming it was the Omega guy is what those guys were correcting me on. Carry on... carry on!!!! Quote
rainmakerrtv Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 Back on track, awesome podcast. What do you figure is the final verdict on Michaels : significant flaws but still great wrestler, or wrestler with great matches whose shortcomings take him out of the great status? Seemed to be heading towards the second category. Quote
Loss Posted December 23, 2013 Author Report Posted December 23, 2013 I'm comfortable calling Shawn a great wrestler. I don't like his comeback, but I do like him the first time around. He's not a first tier great wrestler, but he crosses the threshold for me. Quote
goodhelmet Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 Yeah, I think he is a great wrestler who does annoying shit. I wish he had better punches. I wish he wouldn't act like a bitch in the ring to show up his opponents (although it does add to his legend). Also, while I can admit he had a great career, I wouldn't call him a favorite. I go out of my way to watch Regal or Lawler matches. I do not go out of my way to watch HBK matches. Quote

bradhindsight Posted December 25, 2013 Report Posted December 25, 2013  Here's the official WWTP logo - complete with writing on Dusty's shirt  http://placetobenation.com/wrestling-with-the-past Quote
bradhindsight Posted December 28, 2013 Report Posted December 28, 2013 Regarding Shawn's healing - while I'm sure he credited a higher power in some ways, I know in an interview I read (or perhaps it was a DVD doc) Shawn mentioned that it was really all about stretching. They had a physical therapist work that angle and that made the pain go away to a point where he could return again and wrestle full time. Quote
bradhindsight Posted December 28, 2013 Report Posted December 28, 2013 Man, Charles nails the HHH/HBK feud from 2004. Complete masturbatory crap. Quote
Zoo Enthusiast Posted December 28, 2013 Report Posted December 28, 2013 Man, Charles nails the HHH/HBK feud from 2004. Complete masturbatory crap.Though nothing is more masturbatory than DX reformations in general. Painful stuff to watch. Quote
WingedEagle Posted December 29, 2013 Report Posted December 29, 2013 I listened to the first half of this on a run today, and wanted to let you guys know just how much I enjoyed it. Neither of you dominate the conversation or talk over each other at any time, you're both incredibly engaging and whether you're talking about things you like or dislike, you make want to watch more wrestling. Its a shame this isn't weekly like MLW or the Austin show because its one of the more engaging shows out there. Keep up the great work. Quote
goodhelmet Posted December 29, 2013 Report Posted December 29, 2013 Thanks man. That is the goal from the beginning. If we have more than one guy on, I take a backseat. If its just me and Charles, we bounce off each other. We have been rehearsing on the phone for ten years. Quote
jpchicago23 Posted December 29, 2013 Report Posted December 29, 2013 If that logo is made into a shirt I'm all over it. Quote
bradhindsight Posted December 29, 2013 Report Posted December 29, 2013 Two things I love about this show: Â - Will and Charles are always willing to change their opinion mid-argument if the other brings up a convincing point. You'll hear Will say "You know what Charles, that is a really good point". This connects with the listener because it shows the respect and friendship you have for each other. Â - The recommended matches piece at the end is one of my favorite podcast segments. Love that you guys always close with that (and that Will always insists you end on a positive note). Â I really enjoyed this episode. Quote
Zoo Enthusiast Posted December 29, 2013 Report Posted December 29, 2013 Usually these shows take a few days for me to listen to because I wind up pausing it and running to YouTube to watch a match that I haven't seen before/don't remember. Â They absolutely make me want to watch more wrestling. And have been successful. Quote
Loss Posted December 30, 2013 Author Report Posted December 30, 2013 Wow, thanks for the logo, the praise ... everything. Quote
shoe Posted December 30, 2013 Report Posted December 30, 2013 I told you privately Brad, now I'll say it so everyone can hear. That is one sick logo. Quote
JerryvonKramer Posted December 30, 2013 Report Posted December 30, 2013 I agreed with a lot of the stuff Loss said in the second half of this show. I might have even agreed out loud a few times. Quote
Kevin Ridge Posted January 10, 2014 Report Posted January 10, 2014 Really good show. I didn't even buy Michaels as future World Champion in early 94. It really took him going the distance in that Rumble for me to consider him a threat. Someone mentioned in this thread about Michaels as a promo early in career. That brief audio clip of Rockers in Memphis was something else. Jannetty came off way more charismatic than Michaels when talking. Michaels heel run in 97 is near the top for me. Probably number one since I usually like heels but Michaels both on TV and behind the scenes was so loathsome. The buildup to Summerslam match with HHH was funny to hear. I must have not been paying close enough attention at the time. I do agree that you guys have been both very fair to Bret and Michaels on each podcast devoted to them. Be interesting to see you guys tackle a Triple H show in the future. Quote
