MikeCampbell Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 The Tony/David/Tommy Young/Ric Flair segment from the 12/7/85 episode is amazing. Tony and David interview Tommy about the finish of the Starrcade title match, and David sounds like a lawyer doing a cross examination, trying to plead his case for Dusty to be the new champion. Flair comes out and completely rips David apart. Quote
sek69 Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 Knowing these were taped at like 10am Saturday makes everyone wearing sunglasses (and Arn's tinted eyeglasses) while doing promos that much funnier in retrospect. Quote
KrisZ Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 Actually in this era they taped on Sunday morning at 10 Quote
Johnny Sorrow Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 That's even more impressive. 😄 Sunday morning coming down. Quote
Zoo Enthusiast Posted November 29, 2015 Report Posted November 29, 2015 That's even more impressive. Sunday morning coming down. Sounds like you (and Kris Kristofferson) just named Zellner's new pod about these shows. Quote
Matt D Posted November 29, 2015 Report Posted November 29, 2015 The sunglasses were to hide the hangovers. Quote
Johnny Sorrow Posted November 29, 2015 Report Posted November 29, 2015 The sunglasses were to hide the hangovers.Yes, hence the Johnny Cash song reference . 👌 Quote
flyonthewall2983 Posted December 1, 2015 Report Posted December 1, 2015 I just watched a random PTW from '87 and noticed during one of the matches that the "Superstars of Wrestling" banner wasn't blurred. Quote
...TG Posted December 1, 2015 Report Posted December 1, 2015 So five random Smoky Mountain episodes from 1994 were just uploaded: Â 2/14/1994 3/13/1994 3/27/1994 5/1/1994 7/5/1994 Â I had no idea they even owned that library. Keep it up, WWE Network! Quote
Johnny Sorrow Posted December 1, 2015 Report Posted December 1, 2015 They never even showed SMW on 24/7, just a clip here and there. Groovy. Quote
PhilTLL Posted December 1, 2015 Report Posted December 1, 2015 So yeah, I'm resubscribing. I hope all this is a harbinger and not a passing fancy. Quote
sek69 Posted December 1, 2015 Report Posted December 1, 2015 They've been adding more NWA episodes too, I hope they finally figured it out. Quote
flyonthewall2983 Posted December 1, 2015 Report Posted December 1, 2015 Hopefully they put on more WCCW too. I would not be surprised if that were to happen soon as part of the build up to Mania. Quote
sek69 Posted December 1, 2015 Report Posted December 1, 2015 Just watched the December episode of Mid South and nearly spit my drink seeing the next match coming up would be Ted DiBase vs young up and comer Shawn Michaels. Quote
MikeCampbell Posted December 1, 2015 Report Posted December 1, 2015 I think Sek nailed it. Someone saw the popularity of NWA Classics, and realized there's a viable market for classic wrestling. I'm hoping to see Memphis and Florida go up next! Quote

I'm hoping to see Memphis and Florida go up next! It's almost like someone predicted that would happen... That is why I encourage everyone who wants them to upload more territory footage to subscribe to NWAClassics. I mean the service by itself is fucking awesome and you'll very much enjoy it but if it becomes enough of a success then we all know it's in WWE's petty nature to decide to try and steal it's subscribers by suddenly going crazy uploading Mid-South stuff. Â We'll need our legal expert David Bixenspan here but I read somewhere that they are allowed to use the trademark now that Dale Gagner was exposed as a conman and beaten in court. Quote

I am personally looking forward to Stampede someday - it's such a completely different set of wrestlers compared to pretty much every other territory and there are a lot of random touring wrestlers. Where else can you see Kio Kawada (from Seoul) vs Canek? It's also a relatively undiscovered promotion.  SMW was an odd choice, not that I am complaining. I'd even watch Global if they put it up.  @Mike: They don't own Memphis so that won't go next. Ownership has been in legal limbo for years, Lawler has been trying to put everything together for a while to sell it to WWE. Quote
The Chief Posted December 1, 2015 Report Posted December 1, 2015 Damn, I see the new Crockett TV but no category for SMW or Mid-South. Amazon Fire TV. Anybody else having this problem? Quote
pantherwagner Posted December 1, 2015 Report Posted December 1, 2015 They are not available on iPad or Apple TV either. Sometimes it takes a day or two for the folders to be updated across all devices. Quote
The Man in Blak Posted December 1, 2015 Report Posted December 1, 2015 Damn, I see the new Crockett TV but no category for SMW or Mid-South. Amazon Fire TV. Anybody else having this problem? That's how it is on iOS at the moment, but you can still find the episodes if you search for "smoky mountain" and "mid south." Quote
