DR Ackermann
Is this the only episode that is off?
shoe
I think they have the years wrong on some of them.
DR Ackermann
Oh well. They will probably get that sorted out sooner or later. I'm excited to check this stuff out. The picture quality is awesome.
MikeCampbell
At least some of them are right, because one of the 1985 ones features the buildup to Starcade '85, with Bob Geigel decreeing that Tully doesn't have to give Magnum a title shot at Starcade. But, then Jimmy Crockett finds a loophole to make the match.
fakeplastictrees
The best thing about these shows are the promos. I cannot watch a wrestling match in a shitty studio like that (insert TNA joke here). I am not going to lie and pretend I am watching the matches, just the promos for me. Also, what is with Tony's mic? In every episode I've seen thus far (granted its only been four), Dave's mic cover is ON his mic while Tony's is not pulled down all the way. Does anyone know if this was on purpose or did Tony just have weak hands?
NotJayTabb
Yeah, the promos are such a breath of fresh air. In an era where "enemy of the authority" Roman Reigns is allowed to open the show with full theme music and talk for 20 mins about hating his bosses, seeing Ronnie Garvin take less than 3m to explain why he's dropping the MACW title was so refreshing, and crucially more interesting. It shows how far things have gone when the show from 30 years ago is the one that feels more exciting.
KrisZ
The 2/8/85 show is the only one labeled wrong
pantherwagner
Having dinner and watching the oldest NWA SN ep. on the network (11/02, not counting the mislabeled one). Quite a few attractive looking ladies in the crowd. First thing that comes to mind is "Ric Flair has done all of them".
MikeCampbell
The Tony/David/Tommy Young/Ric Flair segment from the 12/7/85 episode is amazing. Tony and David interview Tommy about the finish of the Starrcade title match, and David sounds like a lawyer doing a cross examination, trying to plead his case for Dusty to be the new champion. Flair comes out and completely rips David apart.
sek69
Knowing these were taped at like 10am Saturday makes everyone wearing sunglasses (and Arn's tinted eyeglasses) while doing promos that much funnier in retrospect.
KrisZ
Actually in this era they taped on Sunday morning at

Zoo Enthusiast
That's even more impressive. Sunday morning coming down. Sounds like you (and Kris Kristofferson) just named Zellner's new pod about these shows.

flyonthewall2983
I just watched a random PTW from '87 and noticed during one of the matches that the "Superstars of Wrestling" banner wasn't blurred.
...TG
So five random Smoky Mountain episodes from 1994 were just uploaded: 2/14/1994 3/13/1994 3/27/1994 5/1/1994 7/5/1994 I had no idea they even owned that library. Keep it up, WWE Network!

Johnny Sorrow
They never even showed SMW on 24/7, just a clip here and there. Groovy.
PhilTLL
So yeah, I'm resubscribing. I hope all this is a harbinger and not a passing fancy.
sek69
They've been adding more NWA episodes too, I hope they finally figured it out.
flyonthewall2983
Hopefully they put on more WCCW too. I would not be surprised if that were to happen soon as part of the build up to Mania.
sek69
Just watched the December episode of Mid South and nearly spit my drink seeing the next match coming up would be Ted DiBase vs young up and comer Shawn Michaels.
MikeCampbell
I think Sek nailed it. Someone saw the popularity of NWA Classics, and realized there's a viable market for classic wrestling. I'm hoping to see Memphis and Florida go up next! goc
I think Sek nailed it. Someone saw the popularity of NWA Classics, and realized there's a viable market for classic wrestling. I'm hoping to see Memphis and Florida go up next! It's almost like someone predicted that would happen... That is why I encourage everyone who wants them to upload more territory footage to subscribe to NWAClassics. I mean the service by itself is fucking awesome and you'll very much enjoy it but if it becomes enough of a success then we all know it's in WWE's petty nature to decide to try and steal it's subscribers by suddenly going crazy uploading Mid-South stuff.
