We start this episode of Georgia Championship Wrestling with Gordon Solie talking about the explosive nature of last week's TV show and announced that today "Hacksaw" Butch Reed would be defending his National Heavyweight Title against Jake "The Snake" Roberts as Reed has demanded that the match be on TV with the title on the line.

Solie also announced that "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff had suffered a separated shoulder from last week's attack by the Gentleman's Club and would be out of action for an indefinite amount of time which would bring out Gentleman Jim Holliday who did the roll call for the GC before bragging about putting Orndorff out of action. Holliday talked about how he had put Mike George's $25,000 into a special fund that he would be able to access at the right time which Solie sighed deeply at that line. Holliday then talked about how today is going to be a great day for the GC as there is still money left to be collected from Harley Race and that Scott McGhee, Reed, Tommy Rich, & Koko Ware all better be on watch because they could be joining Orndorff in the hospital at any time.

Solie then told Holliday to just wait a minute....Orndorff called him earlier this week and told him he had invited some friends of his to come to TV this week to extract some special revenge on the Gentleman's Club and he said that there are 3 men here today looking for the chance to get said revenge. ZZ Top's LaGrange hits the speakers and out comes David, Kerry, & Kevin Von Erich as the studio goes nuts with David telling Holliday that he wants any 3 of his goons to get in the ring later for a good ol fashioned Texas butt whipping. Holliday then says you got it and he is going to call Harley Race because he knows he would love it if the GC took out any of the Von Erich's.

MATCH #1

The Shadow Riders ("Hangman" Bobby Jaggers & Johnny Mantell) vs. Rick McCord & Ted Oates

The Riders isolate Oates early in the match and really work him over as they sneak in shots with the cowbell behind Nick Patrick's back and Oates is left bloody on the floor before being helped to the back as McCord now gets worked over. Jerry Bryant comes out to take Ted's place and the Riders just keep on dominating the faces until Oates comes back out bandaged up and he distracts Jaggers allowing McCord to get a schoolboy on him for an upset win in 11:33. The studio goes nuts as well as the Riders who go nuts attacking everyone especially Oates where they hang him over the top rope with their bullrope.

Freddie Miller then goes over the major NWA events of the week before commercial.

We come back from break with Solie talking about Bruiser Brody & Koko Ware and their match from last week where Koko got an upset win over Brody with clips shown which brings out an angry Brody who says that he wants Ware again on TV but this time in a No DQ match so he can do what he wants to him. Koko comes out and tells Brody that he isn't scared of him because he has already beaten him once and he will do it again.

MATCH #2

No DQ Match: Koko Ware vs. Bruiser Brody

Brody starts off pounding on Koko before taking the match to the floor where he would even hit the King Kong Kneedrop on the concrete which looked like it may have finished off Koko but Brody would roll him into the ring and tried it again but he would miss. Koko fights his way back up and slowly weakens Brody to a point where he would hit him with his missile dropkick when sent Brody to the floor. Koko then went for it from the apron to the floor and hit Brody flush in the mouth but Koko also was also hurt from landing hard on the concrete. Scrappy McGowan would have no choice but to count both men out at 9:13.

We come back from break with Solie joined by Tommy "Wildfire" Rich who talks about his vendetta against "Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer and we get clips from their various battles over the past few weeks and Rich said that on the next show at The Omni on August 7th, he wants to have a Steel Cage Match where the loser must leave town. Rich said this feud has to end and it has to end soon because someone may be permanently crippled very soon.

MATCH #3

Tommy "Wildfire" Rich vs. Les Thornton

This was a really good back and forth match with Thornton using his British style to frustrate Rich. Tommy fought back though and he would eventually hit his Thesz Press for the pinfall in 10:43 before Sawyer would run out but Rich caught him as soon as he got in the ring and sent him out quickly with a dropkick. Buzz then went over to Solie and accepted Rich's challenge and said if anyone would be crippled it would be Rich.

Freddie Miller then goes over all the GCW events of the upcoming week.

We come back from break with Solie joined by the Von Erich's and he asks them about their current issues in World Class against Devastation Inc. especially David's injury from Bad News Allen which Solie mentioned will be shown tomorrow night on World Championship Wrestling and David said that he is fine now but knows that the Gentleman's Club like Devastation Inc. are a bunch of mercenaries so he must be prepared for what happens.

MATCH #4

David, Kerry, & Kevin Von Erich vs. "King Kong" Angelo Mosca, "Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer, & Super Destroyer

Great action going on here as everyone worked hard even Mosca and the Von Erich's were great in this setting. Kerry & Sawyer especially were tearing it up against each other. The match would break down into a wild 6-way brawl where Kerry would hit Mosca with a discus punch with him turning around right into a cross body block by Kevin to end the match in 18:52. Sawyer though would use his chain on the Von Erich's before Rich ran out with a steel chair to make the save.

We come back from break with a flustered Holliday saying that the yellow cowards from Texas the Von Erich's won't spoil his day today as he has more money to collect right now as Mike George is about to break Scott McGhee's shoulder.

MATCH #5

Scott McGhee vs. Mike George

Scott uses his quickness and guile to keep George from trying to target his shoulder but soon enough George would get him where he wanted him and started working over the shoulder. George would go for the shoulderreaker but McGhee would wiggle his way out and shoved George to the ropes where he would catch him in an O'Connor Roll for a quick pinfall at 7:49. George got up quickly though and jumped McGhee before giving him the shoulderbreaker but as he went for another one, Butch Reed ran out to make the save.

We come back from break with Solie joined by The Golden Studs ("Golden Boy" Chick Donovan & "Southern Stud" Tommy Wright) and they gloat again about how they suckered Greg Gagne last week. The Studs talk about the upcoming National Tag Titles tournament which will take place at the Macon Coliseum on August 2nd and they say that there is no team around here that can beat them which brings out The Shadow Riders who tell them that they don't like pretty boys and they don't care who gets in their way because the belts will be around their waists. The heel teams keep arguing back and forth before Solie tells them they must get the match in the ring.

MATCH #6

Roberto Soto vs. "Golden Boy" Chick Donovan

Wright is at ringside and gets involved whenever he could before Greg Gagne & George Weingroff ran out and jumped Wright as revenge from last week which brought Donovan out of the ring. Donovan joins the brawl but Gagne would roll him back in the ring where he would turn around right into a running forearm smash by Soto causing him to get pinned in 10:13.

We come back from break with Solie joined by Reed again who said that the time is now for him finally cut the head off the snake because he get rid of him if he wants to be succesful as the National Heavyweight Champion and becoming a future NWA World Heavyweight Champion which is the biggest goal in his life.

MATCH #7

National Heavyweight Title: "Hacksaw" Butch Reed © vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts

Solie explains that this match is one fall to TV time limit rules meaning that if the match doesn't end before the end of the show it is a draw. This started out as a wild heated brawl with both men taking turns beating the piss out of each other on the floor. Reed would hit Jake with a diving shoulderblock off the top rope getting a nearfall on Jake and the fans are in a fever pinch. Jake would get up and hits a desperation DDT on Reed but can't capitalize on it because he is still weakened from the shoulderblock. They fought their way back up to their feet at the same time and they were slugging away on each other before Reed got a press slam as Solie yells out we have 30 seconds left in the match. Reed covers him but again Jake kicks out and this is a total war of attrition. Reed then went for another press slam but Jake wiggled out and caught him with a short clothesline. Both men get up again at the same time and then slug each other with punches right as Solie yells out we are out of time.....The match ended in a draw at 18:24.

Gordon Solie opens up this episode of World Championship Wrestling talking about how yesterday's GCW ended with Butch Reed & Jake Roberts going to a TV time limit draw for the National Heavyweight Title and he brings out Freddie Miller who tells everyone that next week on Georgia Championship Wrestling there will be a rematch and to make sure there is a finish, the match will be the first match on the show. Solie is extremely excited about this announcement and Miller said he is not done yet as the match will be No Disqualification.

At this point Butch Reed comes out and tells Solie that this is the match he wanted and demanded and that he is pumped up that the promotion has granted his wish. Reed told Jake that his reign of terror in this promotion was coming to an end extremely soon and that once he is gone that he can finally focus on the main goal of his career and that is winning the NWA World Heavyweight Title.

We come back from break and Solie is joined by Greg Gagne & George Weingroff and they go over their current battles with The Southern Studs (Chick Donovan & Tommy Wright) and Gagne said that the Studs think they are going to win the National Tag Titles Tournament in a couple of weeks but they are sadly mistaken as he has been working out with George every day and that they are gaining the chemistry they need to be champions. Weingroff said that he may be legally blind but nothing will stop him from gaining the success that he has dreamed of since he was a child.

Freddie Miller next goes over all the upcoming NWA events of the week before going to break.

We come back from break with Solie joined by The Shadow Riders ("Hangman" Bobby Jaggers & Johnny Mantell) with Jaggers saying they just saw the Gagne/Weingroff interview and they couldn't believe that Gagne was serious with what he was saying. Jaggers told Gagne that if he wants to be successful he needs to drop the blind man and find someone that can actually see what he's doing. This brings out Gagne & Weingroff who get up in the Riders' faces and Weingroff tells Jaggers that if he thinks that his disability will hinder him then how bout they have a match next week on TV one-on-one and Weingroff tells Jaggers that if he loses then he would quit as Greg's tag partner. Gagne tells George he doesn't have to do this but George says he is his own man and he must prove to everyone that he is worthy. Jaggers laughs and says that he will take him up on that challenge and then tells Gagne to start watching tape on new partners because he will need one soon. Gagne then tells Jaggers that he needs to start watching tape on Rick McCord because obviously he has his number right now which infuriates the Riders.

After the commercial, Solie is joined by The Gentleman's Club of course led by Gentleman Jim Holliday who tells his boys he has been so proud of how they have been beating people up lately that he is going to give them a big bonus in their paychecks especially Mike George but he tells Mike that there is one big favor he needs from him next week and that is he wants him to break Tommy Rich's shoulder. Holliday says that Rich & Buzz Sawyer has battled each other long enough and that he needs Rich out of his hair for him to thrive in this promotion so if George can permanantly injure Rich before the big Loser Leaves Town Steel Cage Match at The Omni on August 7th, he would match Harley Race's $25,000 bounty making it $50,000. Sawyer then tells Holliday that he doesn't need Mike George's help to get rid of Tommy Rich that he can do it himself and wants to chop his head off but if George can do the job first he would be the first one to congratulate him.

Freddie Miller then goes over all the upcoming GCW events of the week.

Next we get Gordon with his Around the NWA segment of the week where he is joined by David, Kerry, & Kevin Von Erich where they go over all the events of World Class recently such as David's issues with Bad News Allen and Kerry & Kevin winning the WCCW Six-Man Tag Titles with Tito Santana and they show the entire matches with their narration.

Solie then next goes over the current situation with Jerry Lawler/Austin Idol against Sir Oliver Humperdink in Memphis.

The merger between Pacific Northwest Wrestling & All-Star Wrestling.

The emergence of The Fabulous Freebirds in Jim Crockett Promotions.

The current happenings in All-Japan & New Japan which Solie talks about how there has been one man missing from the new Georgia Championship Wrestling because he has been working for New Japan but this man has sent in a taped interview to talk about what is on his mind.

Adrian Adonis greets the fans all over America watching on WTBS saying that yes he has been in Japan for the past few weeks but he is coming very soon and that he is coming with a passion. Adonis said that he doesn't wrestle for anyone but himself and that money and championships mean everything to him so he doesn't care who or what will be in his way but they will fall because it's his destiny to be a champion. Adonis then talks about all the great competition that has been coming through the territory he has heard about and mentions that no one is perfect will maybe except him and they would end up being picked off like gum on the bottom of his shoe.

After the break, Solie is joined by Tommy "Wildfire" Rich who says that he isn't scared of Mike George, Buzz Sawyer, Angelo Mosca, Super Destroyer, or anyone that Jim Holliday throws in front of him because he will have his Loser Leaves Town Steel Cage Match with Buzz at The Omni on August 7th and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Rich said that he has fought for everything he has achieved in his life and that he won't stop fighting now because the deck might be stacked against him. The thought of that just makes him stronger and that makes him dangerous if you get what he is saying.

We come back from break and Solie is joined by an angry Bruiser Brody who talks about his issues with Koko Ware with clips shown of their previous matches and he tells Solie that he is tired of dealing with this midget and that he wants a match on TV next week with Koko. Brody then talks about how Rich & Sawyer are having a Loser Leaves Town Match but he wants a different type of match with Koko saying that if he can't beat Koko clean 1-2-3 then he would leave town and he would never come back. Brody said Koko doesn't have to put anything up because nothing will make him happier than to just rid himself of the little gnat.

In the final segment, Solie is joined by Jake "The Snake" Roberts who says that he doesn't have a lot to say today because his talking will be done next week in the ring. Jake did say though that he wants Reed to shine the belt up really nice and admire it while he can because after next week all he will have is the memories of once being called a champion.

Bobby Jaggers line of "he needs to drop the blind man and find someone that can actually see what he's doing" cracked me up

I feel like some bad things are in store for Tommy Rich.

Glad to see SOUTHWEST SUPERSTAR David Von Erich on this show.

I feel like the Brody thing could easily just be a red herring but at the same time I could also see you going all the way with it.

Some really cool stuff here. Jake promos a highlight. I was REALLY surprised to see Ted Turner making an on-air appearance.

I like the "round the country" round ups by Miller too. Works to make TBS feel big time or "flag ship", and also real legit with the likes of Solie there.

Liking too how you've thrown the occassional longer star vs. star match in among the jobber matches.
