Was talking to two lads in work about this today who both think Conor will win. Arguments like McGregor is younger & bigger. He's always won when people said he wouldn't, like with the Aldo knockout. It's fucking insane. Oh and the betting odds are preposterous, i've placed a substantial wager on Mayweather. Build hasn't been good compared to McGregor - Diaz or Mayweather - De La Hoya 10 years ago

Those three are great picks

[1983-04-07-AJPW] Genichiro Tenryu vs Kerry Von Erich
El McKell replied to JKWebb's topic in April 1983
The moment i heard the first bars of Eye of the Tiger and saw Kerry riding on a horse shirtless in slow motion i knew i was about to see something special. The actual match was not special, early Tenryu kinda sucks from what i've seen of him. ** -
These four episodes were quite a lot of fun, although I was dissapointed Jeff didn't give us the burial of Magnum - Tully that he promised us at the end of episode 3

PWG only runs in one building now and yeah that was it. That building also appeared in the 2nd last episode of Mad Men. -
Plenty of times. Literally just cried on Saturday seeing Mark Haskins celebrating after beating Ryan Smile live at an OTT show. This decision was then reversed which killed the moment.

How is that a squash match? If a commentator at one point in the match says that the person who ultimately won showed 'great resiliency' there's no way it's a squash

It's gotta be Kenta Kobashi 2003 to 2005 for me

This. He just wanted a rating to say it was a little better than the Dome match, don't think about what it means about how much better he thinks it is than other 5 star matches or if you could have a *****1/2 star match or whatever

Wright gives Tiger basically nothing in the match, dominates the whole thing, kills the Tiger Mask aura by outshining Tiger, doing cartwheels and shit to get out of holds and even gets out of the way on the outside so Tiger can't do a dive

Buddy Rose vs. Jay Youngblood (2/3 falls) (4/11/81)
El McKell replied to goodhelmet's topic in Matches
Gotta give these guys enormous props for finishing a fall with a side headlock and making it seem like a believable and dramatic finish. Also, this is almost definitely the best Buddy Rose singles match i've seen -
Weirder smark obsession: Roman Reigns or Women's hair?

Weirder smark obsession: Roman Reigns or Women's hair?
El McKell replied to stro's topic in Pro Wrestling
I wouldn't give a shit if it was just medical facility instead of hospital but because there's dozens of this little things that everyone has to say characters in WWE end up coming across as weird and unnatural. -

The way they clearly have to use a nickname every time someone is mentioned when they first come up with a nickname now and calling Hogan 'Hulkster' is not the same thing. The problem with this stuff is that it makes the way people speak seem very unnatural. Saying the full name of the PPV every time is bizarre especially if it's got a name like 'Fastlane: End of the Line'. Calling the crowd 'The Universe' even in the context of wrestlers brawling into the crowd. Not using the word belt no matter what, Jinder Mahal stole the belt from Randy Orton and a commentator told us that Orton is the champion but Mahal 'has the title'. That makes no sense 'This past week' instead of ever saying last Monday or last Tuesday. 'Medical facility' instead of hospital. You can never say US champion it's United States champion every time. Everybody having to say things in a particular way makes it obvious that everything is a script and not feel real. -
Ok i've never seen the match so what is this? you almost make it sound like these guys just showed up after the finish to do this crazy stunt and honestly I sorta hope that's the case.

[1980-04-12-WWF-Philadelphia, PA] Bruno Sammartino vs Larry Zbyszko
El McKell replied to Loss's topic in April 1980
I got more entertainment from one of the commentators telling us that 'all holds are barred' than the actual match. After watching this i was shocked to realise it was only 10 minutes long, felt like much more.- 2 replies

If the one new world of sport episode around christmas last year is anything to go by this won't be good

I firmly believe that wrestlers and fighters have roughly the same goals when it comes to the categories they're voted on together: best on interviews, biggest draw, most charismatic. There are separate awards for Fighter/Wrestler of the year, most outstanding and best match because when they step into the ring/cage they have totally different jobs. The job they have outside of that are largely very similar.
