[1985-12-07-WWF-Philadelphia, PA] Hulk Hogan vs Terry Funk
Flyin' Brian replied to Superstar Sleeze's topic in December 1985
Have to check this out. Hogan and Funk fought on the 1/4/86 Saturday Night's Main Event (Taped 12/19/85) in Tampa, FL, and on the 5/3/86 SNME (Taped 5/1/86 in Providence, RI) Hogan teamed with Junkyard Dog against Terry and Hoss (Dory Funk Jr.) Funk are the only Hogan/Funk matches I've seen. -
I watched this match live on PPV and bought the tape years later and watched it again. I was dumbfounded both times. It made no sense and it still makes no sense. What were they thinking?
-
I still mark out for that suplex spot to this day. One of the most memorable matches from my childhood. I think it still holds up well.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Flyin' Brian replied to TravJ1979's topic in Pro Wrestling
I've really wanted to try it. From what I had seen before it looked like the results were real. Did you get a call from DDP yet? -
As far as the Clash VHS tapes, only 1-5 were released in the U.S. to my knowledge, and they are actually pretty rare. A compilation tape of Clash 23 and 24 was released in Japan. Not sure about any others.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Flyin' Brian replied to TravJ1979's topic in Pro Wrestling
He didn't just "appear in a picture on instagram" he went outside and took a picture with the group of people who were there to disrupt his employer's wrestling event and then posted the picture on his own instagram account with the hashtag #BCInvasion beside it. He had to know what he was doing was something his bosses wouldn't want him to do which is made even more evident by the fact that there are tons of people in the locker room who are friends with Cody/The Young Bucks that didn't go even go outside to speak to them much less take pictures and post them on social media. So kind of like if Scott Hall and Kevin Nash had went outside to take pictures with DX when they invaded WCW? -
Best of Continental - help sought from the experts

Goc would be a go to guy on this. He has a lot of footage on his YouTube channel and had a thread exploring Continental. -
When "Over"Booking is Just Good Booking
Flyin' Brian replied to Superstar Sleeze's topic in Pro Wrestling
Yeah, loved the Flock. One of the best, which I always use as an instance of workers working a match in front of a crowd that couldn't give less of a fuck and by the end had the same crowd molten, is Raven vs Saturn from (I believe) WWIII 98, for the freedom of the Flock. Terrific match and amazing dog & pony show, with the classic spot of Kidman dropkicking Raven which made him an immediate babyface cruiserweight star. Love that storyline and that match. Good stuff. -
Best manager ever IMO. One of the all time greats.

Awesome! Thanks, Al.

Yeah, mine had the record too. I'll have to go somewhere with a player and check it out. -
Gordon Solie's Championship Wrestling Trivia
Flyin' Brian replied to Flyin' Brian's topic in Pro Wrestling
There are four categories - wrestling history, general wrestling knowledge, wrestling of the 80's, and true or false/fill in. Here's an example of the first card: History - who was the PWI magazine's Most Popular Wrestler in 1976? General - which wrestler was known as the Canadian Freight Train? 80's - this former Midwest wrestling promoter grappled under the nickname "Cowboy" Name him. T/F or fill in the blank - _______ Sammartino -
My brother found a copy of this game and gave it to me for my birthday. Anyone want to play? Thank you for acquiring the footage and going through the process of converting it into a format that could be shared with all of us. It is a piece of history we didn't have before and I'm thankful it's been preserved. I hope Billy Corgan will continue what you started.

I thought the announce team was ok last night, and I definitely got an early ROH vibe from the stuff I saw. I'll probably try and check out some of the other shows they had posted on twitch.

Checked a little bit of this out tonight. Anyone else familiar with Wrestle Circus? https://www.bleedingcool.com/2017/06/23/twitch-makes-first-pro-wrestling-deal-wrestle-circus/ https://www.twitch.tv/wrestlecircus

Good matches tonight. Uso's and New Day was really good, finish doesn't even bother me because they are just getting started. Lana surprisingly had a good showing vs Naomi. Not bad at all, except the MITB finish.

A man decided the winner in the big Charlotte/Becky/Sasha Mania match too. But that was cheating to help Charlotte win, not winning the match for her. In that analogy, if Ric had gotten in the ring and put Becky in the figure four himself and won the match for Charlotte they would be the same. If Ellsworth had cheated to screw one of the other women out of winning the match but Carmella had been the one to climb the ladder and get the briefcase for herself I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it. The ending as stands is some TNA level BS. Did Vince give in and hire Russo?
-
The first Women's Money In The Bank Ladder Match ever, and the winner has to have a man climb the ladder and win it for her. Amazing, and not in a good way.
-
Wow. If that ending stands, that is a slap in the face to the Smackdown women's division.
