I freaking love the team of KENTA & Shibata. They were so badass here - LOVED them working over Yone, they were so great during that just beating the tar out of the man in bit of a dickish fashion. Love it. Once Yone got some offense in, he throws KENTA outside to Morishima who was just PISSED. He beat the shit out of KENTA very aggressively. Awesome. KENTA does the FIP deal, and as usual, he was fantastic in that & Morishima was tremendous working the heat on him. The finishing stretch was lovely with it becoming a game of "who can capitalize first?" as they threw some nifty bombs in there. Fantastic match & fantastic performances by KENTA, Shibata & Morishima. ****1/2

This is such an amazing match. Tenryu gives a hellacious beating to KENTA - who sells it fantastically. Tenryu was just so good in this delivering that asskicking & being the grumpy vet. KENTA was tremendous as the underdog selling his ass off while getting some brief comebacks in - only for Tenryu to cut them all off. Tenryu beating up anyone is a winning formula & then you get KENTA as the underdog which is another winning formula - you combine those 2 and you get fantastic pro wrestling match. ****3/4

This was a super awesome little spectacle. The size difference between these two is HUGE to say the least. Kalisto uses his quickness to avoid Braun's total domination - he gets some awesome highflying moves in, but then there are times when Braun is just tossing him around in badass fashion. It's just as good as it sounds on paper. ****

[2005-09-18-NOAH-2nd Great Voyage] KENTA vs SUWA
ShittyLittleBoots replied to Loss's topic in September 2005
Oh man this was so good. SUWA delivers an all-time great heel performance; the man just was being the biggest asshole possible to KENTA & everyone, really. Throughout the match he weakens KENTA by using those full on heel tactics - KENTA was brilliant trying to keep things in control only for SUWA to bust something out. KENTA answering to SUWA being a complete dick by beating the crap out of him with those strikes of his was terrific, and the ending with him just absolutely destroying SUWA was really the perfect ending for this match. An all-time classic. ****3/4- 16 replies

[2005-07-18-NOAH-Destiny] KENTA vs Yoshinobu Kanemaru
ShittyLittleBoots replied to Loss's topic in July 2005
An absolutely AWESOME Tokyo Dome epic, right here. One minor complaint is that KENTA's early arm work was total filler as Kanemaru didn't bother to sell it once it was time for him to get his shit in - but that is indeed just a minor complaint as it didn't play a big part in anything KENTA did, either. The match started off SUPER hot with that insanely awesome, hard hitting, fast paced opening sequence. KENTA was really good on control after that, working over Kanemaru in compelling fashion - Kanemaru's following control segment wasn't quite as strong, but still strong. The finishing stretch was much like the opening; red hot & it perfectly capped off this terrific match. ****1/2 -
Holy shit what a match. Everything from beginning to end was absolutely fantastic. Starts with a lock up & as they do that Kobashi pushes KENTA to the ropes. He goes for a clean break, but KENTA is having none of it; he just shamelessly starts kicking the shit out of Kobashi. That leads to Kobashi getting a bit pissed & they start trading strikes - KENTA wins the exchange due to his quickness. He is now being a total dick just kicking his mentor's ear & face. Now Kobashi is truly PISSED. He starts mauling the shit out of young KENTA with those GOAT chops of his - KENTA tries to come back with those quick, stiff kicks of his, but Kobashi shuts him down quickly with those damn chops. My goodness. The rest of the match is mostly dominated by Kobashi, who like any good mentor would just stretches & beats the shit out of KENTA. KENTA gets some big comeback spots in, but ultimately everything is shut down by the champ. What a goddamn match. ****3/4

Quite fitting that in his last indy match Galloway has the best match of his indy run. Just a superb, violent I Quit match. Galloway was awesome working over Riddle in brutal fashion & Riddle did some of the best selling of his career so far. ****1/2

This was in a tough spot as they had to follow the classic that was Kyle O'Reilly vs. Fred Yehi, but they managed to follow it outstandingly well. Just an incredible underdog story with Lio first getting some technical work over done on ZSJ, which pissed ZSJ off so he starts to torture Lio. Lio was a great underdog & ZSJ is always a blast working on top. ****1/4
-
Just an absolute warfare with the two trying to break each other down. Slick mat work to start things off - that transitions into Yehi getting the control, he works over O'Reilly in awesome fashion & in particular he starts targeting his leg. O'Reilly sells that tremendously. O'Reilly gets the control & starts working over Yehi in FANTASTIC fashion - now it was Kyle's time to pick a limb so he goes with Yehi's arm. He starts working that, which Yehi sells tremendously. Dueling limb work~! I love it. Both men sell so well for each other & both men have offense that looked like million bucks. Great feeling of physicality, competition & urgency. This was a war. ****1/2

Top fucking notch. O'Reilly was all business here while Keith Lee always wants to do his shtick - it's a part of his charm. Lee quickly realized that O'Reilly wasn't there to play around so he starts showing why he truly is LIMITLESS with all that athletic stuff he pulls out while still being a dominating big man wrestler. Loved the story of Kyle being super focused on chopping the big man down, he did awesome work to Lee's leg throughout the match, which eventually paid off as he got him on his knees. Fantastic storytelling. Then the terrific ending after the re-start deal where he just destroyed Lee with those striking combinations & that brainbuster. One of the finest matches of the year. ****1/2

[2017-04-22-EVOLVE 82] Austin Theory vs ACH
ShittyLittleBoots replied to Calvin's topic in April 2017
This was rock solid. ACH showed nice swagger & Theory impressed. ***1/4 -
Starts off with some awesome mat work, love watching these 2 go at it - eventually Thatcher gains the advantage, and we get a super awesome control segment w/ him working over Riddle. Thatcher on the offense was a thing of beauty, loved watching him lay those knees in & lock those submissions. Riddle is really good working from under - he gets some awesome hope spots in including almost hitting Thatcher with the Bro To Sleep only for Thatcher to counter it into a Fujiwara Armbar. LOVE IT. If there's a better opening match on any card this year, I'd be surprised. ****1/2

One of the best NOAH matches ever is what you get when you pair the best monster in Japan with the best underdog in Japan. Takayama dominated KENTA in badass fashion, just beating the shit out of him with those sick strikes of his - KENTA got some really great comebacks in where he showcased his awesome strikes & combinations. Takayama made KENTA look like million bucks by giving him so much of the match & he also really sold well for the man. A real kickass match. ****3/4

This was just tremendous. Red hot action from start to finish - loved the strike exchanges between KENTA & Murahama, those kicks were brutal & then of course we got an outstanding FIP segment with KENTA - Liger just stretched the shit out of him while Murahama kicked the shit out of him. Brilliant. This was just so well crafted - Murahama & especially Liger as the grumpy asshole vets & KENTAFuji as the fiery young babyfaces. ****3/4

First time watching this & I was absolutely blown away by how absolutely perfect it was. Seriously couldn't have asked for a better match layout. It started off with KENTAFuji taking out Ogawa right away & then going after Misawa - but Misawa fights back & sooner than you know, him & Ogawa are in complete control. They beat the shit out of KENTA for a loooong time, KENTA was a tremendous FIP & the heavies sure knew how to work over him in super compelling fashion. Eventually KENTA gets some offense in & he is just CRAWLING desperately to make a tag to his partner, but Misawa had taken care of Marufuji outside. I love it. Misawa & Ogawa continue to work over KENTA, but now KENTA gets a brief comeback in with his quick combos & he FINALLY makes the tag to Marafuji - Marafuji makes a super energetic comeback, but the shine of the juniors doesn't last long as Misawa & Ogawa gain the control VERY quickly. Marufuji works as a FIP for quite a while, eventually he starts to get some offense in as he starts to headbutt Ogawa, but then Ogawa pokes him in the eye. What a dick move! Brilliant. The heavies continue to work over KENTAFuji in awesome fashion, but then Marufuji counters Misawa's move and just BLASTS him with an awesome looking superkick! Might seriously be the most devastating superkick the man has ever thrown. Then the juniors make the heavies pay with Marufuji destroying Misawa on the ramp w/ a Shiranui & KENTA throwing a nice Busaiku Knee to Ogawa who was on the apron. That ruled. The match continues to rule with another awesome moment in the ring as KENTA starts doing Kawada Kicks to Kawada's biggest rival in Misawa, which leads to Misawa waking up like a motherfuckin' demon! Then the finishing stretch kicks in & it's just unbelievably hot. This was perfect professional wrestling. *****

This was just an outstanding tag bout. Loved the super hot beginning with KENTA & Inoue going at it - that set the pace for rest of the match, which was full of hot action. The star of it all was KENTA, he rocked the FIP role so well, I absolutely loved seeing him sell his ass off as Inoue & Samurai did work over him - all of that culminated in that finishing stretch which was just fantastic. ****1/2

This was a lot of fun. You got some brief interactions between Kobashi & Misawa, and those were pretty wild as you'd expect, then you got KENTA & Marufuji doing their thing - some fast paced, energetic sequences. My favorite thing though was just seeing KENTA & Kobashi kick Marufuji's ass - my goodness their offense looked so great & Marufuji sold the beating well. Great match. ****

Now this was a blast! KENTA as the young scrappy underdog was always money & Tatsuhito Takaiwa did a very good job of being the grumpy veteran. He just stretched the shit out of KENTA with those submissions - KENTA answered with some hard hitting comebacks, which all got cut off very quickly. Awesome veteran vs. rookie match. ****1/2

What a MARVELOUS match. Tanahashi's performance in this is one of my favorite things ever - love, love, LOVE the beginning with him keeping Okada down with those tight headlocks, and then once Okada got some offense in, he fakes a goddamn leg injury. What a man. He then does some amazing work over Okada's arm, even more awesome than the damage he did to that same arm at Invasion Attack 6 months earlier - and then Okada's selling which was pretty much perfect. Talking about selling, how about Tanahashi, huh? The dude sold his ass off in this match. An all-time great match. *****
-
This already has a pretty legendary reputation & rightfully so. Terrific psychology with Tanahashi trying to take out Okada's Rainmaker arm - his work over Okada's arm was fantastic & Okada sold it like a boss; loved the bit where he couldn't cover Tanahashi after doing the Rainmaker because of how much his arm was in pain. Okada countered that great arm work of Tana's with some neat work over Tanahashi's neck to soft him up for the Rainmaker. Great graps. ****3/4

[2017-03-20-DDT] HARASHIMA vs Konosuke Takeshita
ShittyLittleBoots replied to superkix's topic in March 2017
Wow, this wasn't any good. This was my first time seeing Konosuke Takeshita in action & his performance really ruined the match for me. The story was him owning HARASHIMA in the early stages, which caused HARASHIMA to come up with just some strategy to keep things in control - that strategy was going after Takeshita's leg. Well, he did a good job working over that leg, but Takeshita COMPLETELY no sold it. Like there was no damage done to that leg at all. It really ruined the match & made HARASHIMA look super weak because other than that leg work (which had no effect whatsoever) this was just Takeshita completely owning HARASHIMA. Not good at all. 1 star for HARASHIMA's effort. * -
This was a lot of fun. Seeing Meiko kick some ass is always a blast - The Bucks & Bennett sold really well for her. Talking about selling, I am pretty sure that the Bucks' offense has never looked better than it has here - my god the Sendai Girls sold their stuff like death. ***3/4
