It's funny, when people were going nuts about the NXT women's stuff a couple years ago I thought it was pretty overrated, but the women's stuff WWE does now is pretty compelling to me, despite being even more self-congratulatory. It's a bit rougher around the edges at time but it's somehow more compelling to me. I also quite enjoy Viper and Bazler. The gold standard remains the classic joshi stuff, but that's an incredibly high bar to set.

I thought it was a pretty telling sign of the times that the other wrestlers tried to continue the match around the body of Orndorff, who was still in the ring, for several more minutes before the match was finally stopped. In an era full of worked shoots where talent is not always told what's going to happen, you end up with the somewhat ghoulish moment of people doing Bronco Busters while EMTs are checking a real life injury only a few feet away.

The thing I'm looking forward to most in 2018 pro wrestling. Very excited.

I don't think it's possible for me to disagree more with a post. Loved the women's Rumble.

I also find this very interesting, Bix. I didn't have very much knowledge about this before, so if you've a mind to keep digging please do.

Love this match. Give me some silliness done well in wrestling and I shall be happy.- 1 reply

Interested to have a new environment. They did so much in the original Temple, I hope they have the option to go back to it from time to time, but I like the idea of branching out a bit.

[2018-01-28-WWE-Royal Rumble] 30 Woman Royal Rumble
Mrzfn replied to ShittyLittleBoots's topic in January 2018
It doesn't seem to be the consensus opinion, but I thought this was comfortably better than the (also good) men's match. I'd also argue it was the best Rumble match in close to a decade, or at least the most fun.- 6 replies

He's hit or miss for me most of the time, but when pieces of his chest are literally falling off because he's taken such a beating while continuing to fight on, he's convinced me that he's an underdog with fighting spirit.

It's FINALLY out for download on highspots.com. PWG distribution is so horrible.

I'm just sad he decided to completely shit the bed with Barry Windham in '93. That could have been his best American match but he never seemed to give a single crap about wrestling in America after '89.

I guess, insofar that a poke in the stomach with a sharp stick is more appealing than one in the eye?

So similar to season 2? I don't mind that, as it might make things more flexible for talents who are working other places, and hopefully will make future seasons more likely because it's less of a massive commitment. This is my optimistic face.

Extremely surprised people are down on Ruby Riot. She was one of the people I looked forward to seeing most in NXT, and on the indy scene before that.

Wonder what Cobb's beef is? I like him but I don't see him taking WWE by storm or anything. Simply being strong tops you out at the Cesaro level (at best), and while he's obviously put together he doesn't really have the look WWE seems to favor for their muscle men. He can work New Japan, PWG, EVOLVE, AAW, and whatever still without leaving LU too. More power to him if he wants to get off TV I guess, I just don't see what the advantage is.

I asked myself, whose career would I rather watch from start to finish? And honestly AJ just seemed so much more interesting. I like HBK too but not as much as I used to, and the fact that most of his career takes place within a specific bubble and style counts against him for me.

[2015-06-26-PWG-Mystery Vortex III] Chris Hero vs Zack Sabre Jr

The fucking finger match. Damn, I remember how fantastically good this was. Possibly my favorite match from either guy to date, it's just so unique.- 4 replies

They toured Europe at least as early as the mid 80s. There are episodes of Prime Time dedicated to airing matches from Paris and such.

I liked Team Hell No a lot. But yeah, this is nonsense.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Mrzfn replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Thank god for that, anyway. Do we know who is now officially calling the shots? -
I don't know a ton about Black Terry yet but he had what I thought was a really good tag match with Negro Navarro against Hechicero and Virus in Lucha Memes. I think it's up on youtube and was actually professionally done, not a handheld.
-
I think I've only seen him wrestle once so I'm not sure. He seemed ok but it was a random tag match, so who knows. He would fit in terms of look and gimmick but yeah, I'm not sure he'd be a better choice than Kross, who I'm also not super familiar with.

Feels literally insane to bring Angle in this way. Last time he was wrestling, he was turning an alarming shade of purple. So of course he goes into the car crash match. I feel like there has to be some trick to keep him out of harm's way, but after announcing it like this how can they pull back on it now?
-
I guess they felt like they had to put something big out there, because everyone was looking forward to... that match...? Shades of GAB06, for sure.

I do wonder if Sexy Star will end up on the "Missing in Action" wall of Captain Vasquez's office, considering everything that's happened with her. Heard it speculated that the spider is for Lady Shani, who could possibly get kayfabe credit for driving Sexy Star away off screen. Also heard it speculated that Vamp's master could be Bestia 666.
