I did forget Sable's awesome punching ability though. These days she would probably open Jackie's forehead hardway with an elbow.
-
You have to do it while conveying that amazing annoyance that Sable's voice and intonation were though. Not an easy feature. Well, and now I have it in my head despite not having heard it for ever. Thanks for nothing, really. Go do the fucking Grind already.
-
Well, it was certainly much better than all those Money in the Bank match. Entertaining bullshit for sure. Ginger Mahal. Ah ah ! Well done.
-
I just googled Wee-LC. Holy shit. What the fuck was that ? Well, I certainly would have remembered the fucking midg... Well, the participants. The guys running around the ring, maybe not.
-
Clumsy ? "Hum, Rusev was feuding with that godawful worker at the last PPV... Can't remember his name... well, he was Indian I believe." Sorry but that's not clumsy. That's just making sense of the infos I have. But I know you don't mean bad. I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. 3MB ? Wee-LC ? Those are probably the lost years of WWE to me. I've been following more closely in the last few years but... This doesn't ring a bell at all.

Yes I would if I didn't know the name of a japanese guy. Contrary to what you imply, I don't know the name of most japanese guys these days since I don't follow the japanese scene and haven't watched one NJ show since the Dome. It's neither here nor there though, if you can grasp the fact I didn't remember the name of that useless Jinder Mahal and only designated him as "Indian" because it's convenient, and if you think saying "he's that indian guy" is offensive, well, there's nothing I can do, really. As far as re rest of your post, well, I'll apply the PWO rules here, it'll save me some time. And venom. I don't need to "defend" myself. And no, I haven't seen this guy ever before that Rusev feud because I don't watch 20 weekly hours of WWE. Shocking, I know, I dunno the faces and names of every JTTS that came around the WWE in the last 15 years (I understand that he's a guy who was there at one time and whom they called back last year to fill the roster after the brand expansion ?). Believe me, don't believe me… I don't care one bit, really. Plus, it's not even the fact I know him or not. I just couldn't think of his name. For fuck's sake, people. So, in other Mania news, so the SD women's multi-match is on the show and the cruiserweight match down the pre-show apparently. Well, not to start this again, but the women being reduced to a bunch of multi-women matches, no big face-off at Mania. Not repaying very well the best part of their product for the whole past year. At least they're all on the main show now. I wish we got Aries vs Neville instead of the three-way dance/ladder tag match.

Seriously, this is hilarious. A movie reviewer over here got the same kind of bullshit because he didn't know the name of two unknown debuting actress and said "the black and the arabian girls". Well, fuck that pc bullshit, hard. If I don't remember the name and if it had been PN News, I'd have said, that fat white rapper guy. If it had been Sheamus, I'd said that pale redhead guy. If it had been Nakamura I'd said that japanese guy. And in case of Jinder Mahal, it doesn't matter what his name is, to quote that afro-samoan blockbuster actor who was a pro-wrestler once. He's godawful, but since he's not the first godawful guy Rusev had to work with, you gotta find a way to identify him. Seriously people : get a fucking grip. (gotta love the idea that "Indian" is a fucking "ethnic minority" too… talking about offensive (and stupid) stuff, now we're really into it)
-
Well, the fact he got reduced to such nothing on the roster (that great feud with… that godawful indian guy) makes the injury kinda irrelevant though. I admit it flew under my radar (heard about it but forgot about it), but like I said, he was doing zilch for months anyway. Sucks for him to not get a Mania paycheck.

The AJPW/Noah Spilt - Online fans perspective from that time
El-P replied to SPS's topic in Pro Wrestling
He'd made enough money that he didn't care and just wanted to run his own vanity promotion. Well, not exactly that. At this point, NJ was going through the infamous Inokism era, with the worst shoot-style stuff ever, useless and dangerous guys like Fujita being pushed to the moon, Tadao Yasuda posturing as an MMA fighter to repay his gambling debts, Nagata being thrown into a legit MMA fight so he get slaughtered while being Da Man for NJ. And Mutoh hates shoot-style to begin with. He was already working a lot with All Japan at the time, going through his rebirth as a worker (after his stint with Russo's WCW basically made him sick), so when the opportunity presented himself, it was a perfect career move for him, flying away from the pits of crap that was NJ at the time and positionning himself as the "savior" of All Japan. He was not friendly with Misawa. He probably felt he had to stay to remain true to Baba's memory too, as did Fuchi. Although in the end he got to deal with Mutoh, for the better and the worse. And he did get both. -
The AJPW/Noah Spilt - Online fans perspective from that time
El-P replied to SPS's topic in Pro Wrestling
I think I remember this, indeed. Ah, the good old days of Onita being rumored to show up everywhere. Hey, he did show up in NJ around that time, so it wasn't that far fetched. -
I never said I didn't care about telling how much I don't care. Because there's so many reason not to care about it. Not having Lana & Rusev doing something meaningful being the sufficient reason for not caring, but not the only reason for not caring. Hey, I actually wish to be proven wrong and that most of the show will be good if I have to watch it (notice the "have to"). The one thing I can be sure of is that the announcing can get me through most of it, because Agius & Chereau are that good and I know they will crack me up a few times. I didn't had that last year (was not living in France then).
-
Reason #1 I don't give a flying fuck about Mania : Rusev & Lana won't be featured. That's it for me, considering all the boring, dull-ass schmucks who get the major stuff.

Interesting stuff here JR. Honestly, although that match is the only one I have a bit of interest into, the whole proposal thing is so overhyped that it's gonna be cheesy anyway. Joey Ryan proposing was super cute and fun, especially since she was not aware it was coming. The proposal I mean. I once stumbled onto Total Bellas on TV. First off, I have no idea who would want to watch this shit (then again, this is true of all reality TV). And well, I know they're emphasizing shit for TV purposes, that it's all fake anyway but... they don't really live like that, do they ? I mean, this house, this kind of über bourgeois lifestyle is some kind of materialistic nightmare to me. I'd never switch my current spot (which is pretty low right now) for this parody of aristocratic pseudo-life, obsessed with money and the way things *look*. It seems so totally empty. Their house... I dunno. Let me put it like this : it seems like being locked into a Brazzers video, but without the porn.

Come on. "JYD was good in Mid-South" is akin to "Hogan worked the mat in Japan". JYD was younger, slimmer and worked harder in Mid-South. He wasn't as terrible as he was in WWF. How could he be ? He still wasn't close to good. Yeah, he was over as hell. That's about it and it helps the perception a whole lot when people go crazy for every shitty offense and goofy maneurism you do.
-
Thanks to this thread, I don't feel obligated to watch the HoF. Thanks, Pro-wrestling Only. See you after Takeover.
-
Come on. You know Taker vs Cena happens next year. It has to. No, really. Roman Reigns coronation N°4 ? That's a new kind of streak.
-
HamaKINO vs the Queens of Arsion was indeed the first excellent match of the year. Totally delivered. Yeah. This is the point where Mari Apache got fucking good. And then Faby came back later and she became even fucking better (from memory). The Apache sisters, damn.
-
You're probably right. By me he will though. And that's all that matters, to me, really. The opinion of a sea of sheeps and idiots, I never cared much for. (disclaimer : I'm not talking about people on this board. I mean, not most of them anyway) Bi-polar disorder is a terrible thing to have. I'll just say that. No fun for you and people close to you.
-
It should. Well, I did like Justin Hawk up to the Blackjack days. His JBL stuff was mostly boring as fuck inside the ring. Well, he should also be remembered as the biggest piece of luggage to ever have a legit MOTYC thanks to Eddie, too.
-
Office stooge, corporate kiss-ass and petty bully who got knocked out by Bart Gunn. And Joey Styles. That's JBL's legacy, basically.
-
One of the most overrated match of the decade. And what turned the corner from cool ladder matches toward pure stuntfests and falling from high places mentality, thanks to that idiot Jeff Hardy, whose only quality is to be the unfunniest New Jack ever. Awful match in the long run because of its influence.

[2004-08-08-NJPW-G1 Climax] Blue Wolf vs Minoru Suzuki
El-P replied to Jetlag's topic in August 2004
Damn, Asashoryu's brother used to be a pro-wrestler in NJPW. Reminds me of Zach Arnold's neverending rumours of Asashoryu is gonna do MMA in the same time frame.- 1 reply

Yeah amazing. And not only that, but the Henka of Doom on Kotoshigiku ! HEEL HEAT !! Is Riki Choshu circa 93 booking sumo now ? (I've been watching too much pro-wrestling) The issue with Mania is that it reached the point of being a self-conscious epic event as a whole. From a bunch of Mania Moments ™ by the mid-00's (which was already annoying as fuck) to ManiaMoment ™.
-
Obligation is right. It's like "well, it's Mania, I kinda "need" to watch it". When in fact, I really don't. I'm perfectly happy going through TNA 2006 now D'Amore is still booking so it's quite the fine product. Until VR gets hired in the Fall or something. I look forward Destination X 2006 myself. And the next basho. That Kisenosato win this month was fucking legendary. Perfect booking.
