I recently read a report that the WWE's most recent show at Madison Square Garden sold 12,000 tickets. That is well under capacity (which I believe is 18k+).

Is this typical for a summer show at MSG?

If you live in the area, why did you or did you not attend?

Is this very bad news, somewhat bad news, or "average" news?

Was there another major event, sporting or otherwise, that might have played into the seemingly low attendance?

I'm just curious about the relative weight of this type of attendance figure compared to prior years. From what I saw, this was definitely the "A" show, featuring Cena, Orton, Wyatt, and Jericho, as well as, I believe, Flair and Triple H.

It was a house show with an underwhelming card.

I don't think I've ever seen it being announced as canceled anywhere, I'm reasonably sure it's still a go. They desperately need that match for the show not to be just a COMPLETE placeholder for SummerSlam. I'd assume they do a basic match with a DQ finish Sunday to lead to a hardcore gimmick match at SSlam.

Daniel Bryan will not be featured on the WM special on NBC. They will show the Rock/Hogan/Austin segment, Taker/Brock and Cena/Wyatt. Wonder if that was NBC's call or WWE's

That's bullshit. Bryan winning was the absolute best feel-good moment of the year so far and I doubt anything could top it.

jesus christ that is dumb. That show was nothing without Bryan.

Exactly.

Maybe they don't want to give that away for free, save that for the DVD release.

They've never left the most important part of the show out of the NBC special. It makes no sense.

My guess is they thought they had put enough emphasis on Bryan after the Network special or something like that. Putting his angle on the tv special would have left out not only Cena but also Austin/Rock/Hogan.

Still, nobody watches that special so it's not a big deal imo.

Is his status really that bad?

I mean, we really don't know anything and it's only been like 2 months for a neck injury. I think people are jumping the gun when talking about retirement this soon. If it's November-December and it still doesn't look promising, then I get the "hanging up the boots" talk.

- Flair in MITB at WM22 (Fake): Way above the head

- Trish Stratus at Backlash '06 (Real): In front of face

- Seth Rollins on Raw (Fake?): Just above the chest

Back and to the left, back and to the left...

Another fake was Finlay at No Mercy 2007, although WWE blew the swerve themselves by having a close up of Finlay taking a perfectly protected bump on the way down, and also showing him quickly looking around and then feigning unconciousness.

Considering it seems like they have no idea if Bryan will ever wrestle again, I understand using the NBC slot to showcase people who are gonna be around in the future.

Yeah, this, surprised by people getting so upset about it. Bryan was the star of WM.....but I'm working under the assumption right now that he may never wrestle again. WWE doesn't know....Bryan doesn't know....but it's going to be a while either way

Austin/Rock/Hogan is the biggest casual hook and has to be on the special. Taker/Lesnar was the most talked about/most trending moment of the show and a historic moment. Has to be featured. Cena is Cena and I'm sure NBC demands Cena featured on their specials. Plus Cena and Wyatt are around still. And it's only a 1 hr special.

I'd be disappointed if Bryan is ignored completely on it, but I don't have a problem with those being the 3 featured things. If we didn't have this huge uncertainty about Bryan right now it would be different

The 1 hr run time is a big aspect too - that HHH match and the Main had to be pushing an hour combined. Not sure how'd you cut that stuff up to fit. If they wanted to feature him, maybe they could just recut that "Monster" video to include the title win and give people the full Bryan v. Authority synopsis in one nice video.

Just for the sake of reference, the "X" sign for Finley was above the head. (And wow, what a spectacular goof-up. I think that one's more on Finlay than the camera crew.)

Also, while we're talking about No Mercy 2007, there was a PPV with three Triple H matches on it? And there's still any debate at all to whether he was over-exposed during this time period?

EDIT: The "you can pretend to be invincible" line for Goldberg in that Triple H conquest video still stings. Hilarious.

To be fair, that was last minute storyline improv. Cena was the champ, in a hot feud with Orton and they were about to have their blowoff match, then legit tore a pec the week before the PPV. The hook for the PPV became "there will be a new champ". Orton was awarded the belt, HHH challenged him on the spot and won the belt in the opening match. HHH then had to face his originally booked opponent, Umaga, which became a WWE title defense. HHH retained. Then McMahon booked him against Orton in a Last Man Standing for the main event (Orton v Cena LMS was the original main), and Orton won the belt

It was total ad hoc hotshot booking, but understandable under the circumstances, and it got a lot of people talking pre and post PPV at the time

And of course part man part machine Cena was back 3 months later as #30 in the Rumble

I know last year they showed the entire Rock-Cena match but don't they usually just mix up the highlights of some of the key matches into music videos like they used to do on Sunday Night Heat?

IIRC, they did that with one of Undertaker's matches, and set it to some Katy Perry song.
