WWE Network... It's Here

Sort of related to the network: does anybody know if the Stampede collection has got the raw footage of complete matches? I know that the TV show was mostly edited/JIP.

I asked Ross Hart when I interviewed him, and the answer is no, unfortunately. With their shoestring budget, they didn't edit. They just turned on the camera when the match picked up.

The exception is the TSN shows from '87-the end, plus the rare match they aired in full of course, like the Stomper turn.

I was always under the impression all of it was clipped from what I read by Ross on the KM board. So that's pretty cool if they have the late 80's stuff in full.
TSN aired full matches in a 90 minute slot starting with Summer '87 stuff on a 3 month delay.

Oh wow, I never knew that. That makes sense then. Hopefully they show some of those.

Any of you guys using Chromecast for the network? Just wondering if it's any good.[/size]

No native support. If you want a cheap WWE Network device, the Roku LT is the best option.

I found out that the new Roku LT is now a streaming stick like the Chromecast.

I've avoided signing up for the Network cause of all of the problems on Xbox 360 so I might get this when it comes out in April.

It was near the end of the Wrestlemania Rewind with Hulk vs Andre when they were talking about Andre being the first WWE HOF

Pretty sure there isn't a full version of the 1993-1996 Hall of fame ceremonies.

They had actual ceremonies for the 94,95,96 ones. I assume they were taped, not sure if they aired. Thought I saw a clip of the Lou Albano induction somewhere.

Any updates on how things are going with the Roku version of the App? I am watching on my computer and occasionally on my phone, but really want to kick back in my lounger in my living room and watch on the big screen. The only smart device I have is a Blu-Ray Player, which this isn't on yet, and I don't play video games enough to warrant getting a video game system. Was looking at the Roku LT as an affordable device to spend a little cash on so I can finally kick back and watch everything on the big screen.

Roku has been solid but not perfect yet.

For example, the Factions episode of Legends of Wrestling no longer shows up, even though it was there before. (I watched it, and it was fascinating to see what an insecure, unhappy person Ric Flair is - taking unnecessary shots at Shane Douglas, DDP, etc. while having his ass kissed by every other member of the panel.)

The issues with programs showing up on the site but not some of the apps, or programs disappearing, is something I hope gets solved once and for all within the next few days.

Then it would be nice for the fast-forward and rewind to include thumbnails (like Netflix). Some programs may already include this, not sure, but it's certainly not a uniform feature yet. It would also be helpful if the resume function actually worked, not only on Roku but across all devices. Would be handy to start something on the site or phone and be able to continue where I left off on a Roku, like every other streaming service already allows.

Yes, I realize WWE Network is only a couple of weeks old, but these are basic staples of any streaming service that should have been there from day one.

EDIT: Factions disappeared from the website too. WTH?

I have the Roku 3 and for the most part been happy. The live stream works great. The VOD works well except for a couple glitches that will sort itself out. For example Starcade 84 kicks me off the network.

Me too. I still have issues with the WrestleMania Rewinds unless I watch them through the program guide. Also, the 85 house show from Maple Leaf Gardens randomly disappeared between last night and this morning.

For the most part though, the Network on the Roku has been spot on aside from those minor glitches which will sort themselves out in time.

I watched that on youtube or daily motion a while back and Flair just came off horribly. Extremely petty and not just satisfied with a few casually negative comments, needed to fully bury and discredit various things. He makes the episode quite hard to watch for small stretches.

The 1st Wrestlemania rewind I can watch under shows. The 2nd one kicks me off, but can watch it under schedule.

Yeah, same here. I still have three days to decide if I stay after my trial or not but I will probably do so as for the next couple of months I expect that the novelty of having all the PPV's will still be worth the monthly fee. But if by the end of the six months there's not plenty of content available over full time (SNME, all Coliseum Videos, the Clashes, the full MSG run Dave mentioned, territorial stuff as complete as possible to watch it in episodic succession...) then for me it won't be worth it at all.

I think it works great now. VOD problems seem to be sorted out. I haven't had any problems with the resume function as others have mentioned. Fast forwarding seems to work good, I just wish you could actually see where you are instead of guessing. You can go by the time at least.

BTW I have a Roku 2.

I was discussing WrestleMania watching party plans with Dave Musgrave the other day and how confident in the stream do you think I should be? I don't have cable, so if I was to have people over and the stream failed, that would be awful.

I see the platform and concept as more valuable than the content itself. Things will be added eventually, but the plan is to put some content on rotation instead of having everything permanently available last I heard. Having wrestling stuff to just conveniently put on as "background noise" while cleaning or doing whatever around the house is pretty cool. So is going back and being able to watch a previous episode of something I may have missed without having to scour YouTube forever and filter through search results that may or may not point to what I'm actually looking for. It's just my opinion, but I think expecting them to have too much stuff up within the next six months is an unrealistic expectation.

I'm fine with them adding archive stuff slowly (specifically, as and when it airs on the live stream), but as they own all the copyright there's no real reason whatsoever to take anything down other than being cheap with the server space. The old territorial TV stuff is going to be particularly pointless if you can't be sure that eventually you'll be able to watch a decent run of consecutive episodes.
