This is a thread to discuss all business related to the National Wrestling Alliance.

The board will need to elect a President and determine dates for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship (among other titles) to be defended.

Stampede Wrestling is requesting to rejoin the NWA, with Stu Hart as their representative.

Joe Blanchard and Southwest Championship Wrestling are not requesting to join at this time but would like to apologize for it's horrible World Title tournament and has decided to abandon the title going forward. Even though we are not official members of the NWA, we realize that co-operation & gentlemanly agreements not to go against each other is what makes wrestling a prosperous business for all of us.

Vince McMahon Sr as one of the most respected promoters in the business, would like a seat on the council, but will not be running for President.

He does request that since WWF represents the largest population area for the NWA, including its new markets on the West Coast, that Phil Zacko should also have a seat on the council and a vote. This would be proportionally fair. The WWF can keep the NWA banner flying strong, but there needs to be some recompense.

Southwest also apologizes for it's incursion into WCCW territory running 3 shows in Ft. Worth from May-June 1983 to the tune of 300, 125 & 35 paying fans. There are no future plans to run any more live events in Ft. Worth.

The World Wrestling Association is also requesting membership into the NWA and will either establish a new "regional" title to replace its World Heavyweight Title or request a date with Harley Race in late August to unify the two, depending on how the draft plays out. This would give the NWA a presence in Indianapolis and Chicago as well as the northwest portion of Ohio, particularly Toledo.

Vince McMahon Sr is currently neutral on the question of NWA champion.

However, he has noted a young talent by the name of Bret Hart that he is tipping for "great things". He was quoted as saying that the youngster has a great future ahead of him in this business and will do his best to develop and showcase him on WWF TV in the coming months.

Stu Hart has placed a call to various members of the NWA Board of Directors, appealing for Harley Race to defend the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in Vancouver on Thursday August 25th.

Also on the call, Stu mentioned the possibility of bringing the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship exclusively to Calgary. At the moment, Stampede Wrestling is not in possession of any NWA titles and the Junior Heavyweight Championship is currently vacant thanks to Dynamite Kid crippling the current champion, Tiger Mask, in Japan. New Japan Pro Wrestling is planning on running a tournament in early 1984 to crown a new champion, and Stu would like to have the tournament in Calgary instead.

Jim Crockett is open to the idea of Bret Hart perhaps being champion in 3-4 years, but doesn't necessarily see him as a franchise at the moment. Needs to work on his mic skills and develop more of a big match feel. Maybe gain some weight and lose that junior heavyweight feel.

Crockett would also like to remind the board that Ric Flair is primed and ready to again take the reins of the NWA World Title and put on classic matches with everyone all over North America. Maybe even pull a couple of classics out of Stu's boy to get him ready down the line.

Stu agrees that Bret is not ready for a World title push at this stage, and appreciates everything Vince is doing to prepare him for the big stage.

There are a few names being thrown around the Hart household as potential NWA Champion candidates, and Ric Flair's name is at the top of the list.

Those close to Vincent James McMahon suggest that he would prefer the NWA Presidency to go back to his good friend Eddie Graham.

He remains neutral on the issue of World Champion but some suggest that he would prefer a babyface "in the Jack Brisco mould".

Jack Tunney likes the idea of building the NWA around Rick Martel, the perfect babyface in the mold of Jack Brisco.
