dawho5
RIP Bobby Heenan. Easily one of the best performers wherever he went, even in a dying WCW.
Shrike02
So because he has views you don't agree with he doesn't deserve the right to his freedom of speech? This is one of the most tone-deaf things I've seen here, in the most inopportune moment. Know when to pick your battles.
JerryvonKramer
On Warrior, play the averages. You never hear guys diss Heenan except for Warrior, same with Andre, same with Dibiase, same with any number of other guys he ran his mouth about. And this is an industry that has had a shoot culture for going on thirty years now.
Al
Warrior called Herman dishonest while mocking him for wearing a colostomy bag. Your opinion on someone's character means nothing if people don't believe you yourself are a person of good character. The personal nature of his comments completely invalidated any legit opinion he expressed.

khawk20
If it's on youtube, Bobby vs. Buck Zumhofe in a Weasel Suit challenge in Winnipeg is worth watching to get an idea of how smooth a wrestler Bobby could be on the offensive. The idea was Bobby had to beat Buck before the time limit expired or he would have to wear the suit. As such, Bobby is on offense a lot trying to finish off Buck and avoid the suit. He really was as good a wrestler as anyone, and that's one match that showed it...rare was the Bobby wrestling match where he was given so much offense. But it fit the story perfectly and could be no other way.
Beast
I don't know why, but that kind of back-and-forth between the two of them used to crack me up to no end. From that day forth, whenever my friends and I saw a masked wrestler, we used to put on serious voices, nod thoughtfully, point at the wrestler in question and say to each other seriously: "That could be Haku." I love this
Beast
I hope Heenan was privy to this type of adoration while he was still alive. It feels like he's been gone for years because of his health and voice issues, and I hope he realized how much his peers and his fans worshipped him. rzombie1988
I've never read one negative comment about him personally. Warrior didn't like him and said he was a trouble maker. I know someone's gonna say "but it's the Ultimate Warrior", but I think the Warrior is a lot smarter than what people give him credit for. He got in, got big, stood up to Vince, got out of wrestling and got Vince to praise him in the end. Ah, fuck Ultimate Warrior. Like anyone should care about what a Fucking homophobic dummy has to say. So because he has views you don't agree with he doesn't deserve the right to his freedom of speech? What a ridiculous strawman. No one said he had no right to his freedom of speech. Just that others have a right to not give a fuck about him and his opinions because of his views. You can try to claim strawman all you want, but you are saying "because I don't agree with his views, his views mean nothing and he can't speak". What you will eventually find out is that no one's going to agree with you on everything and you will soon be hanging from the same rope you want to hang others from. rzombie1988
So because he has views you don't agree with he doesn't deserve the right to his freedom of speech? This is one of the most tone-deaf things I've seen here, in the most inopportune moment. Know when to pick your battles. I'm definitely going to pick the "people who don't agree with me have no right to speak" battle.
rzombie1988
Warrior called Herman dishonest while mocking him for wearing a colostomy bag. Your opinion on someone's character means nothing if people don't believe you yourself are a person of good character. The personal nature of his comments completely invalidated any legit opinion he expressed. Well I know for sure Heenan never mocked Warrior in any way, nor took any part in a DVD that solely meant to shame someone for cash, nor attacked the guy in his own interviews: Are we saying that group bullying and public shaming is okay? Sounds to me like Heenan doesn't deserve the right to speak either. This is what happens when you start trying to take down people you don't agree with. Eventually, the arrow will turn to you and it will be your turn to get taken down. If "he can't talk because he has views I don't agree with" is the standard, then in the end, no one will be able to talk if you want to be fair. It turns out that everyone is human, everyone says things that not everyone agrees with and everyone is eligible to be deemed offensive at times. The consequences of Warrior being unprofessional to Heenan lead to him being mocked. Heenan's consequence for the mocking was that Warrior had bad things to say about him even when no one else did. The consequence of you pulling this particular shit in the Bobby Heenan RIP thread of all places is that I am going into my settings and putting you on my ignore list and that I am suggesting every single other person on this board does the same (up by your name, then Manage Ignore Pref). So you've got the right to speak. I've got the right not to listen. So does everyone else.

So you've got the right to speak. I've got the right not to listen. So does everyone else. So what will be the consequences for Heenan then? He did take part in group shaming, harassment and group bullying for cash. Or are we just going to let that go? I'm all for rules and laws, but I expect them to apply equally to everyone. Heenan was no saint. Warrior was no saint. They were both just human like the rest of us. It sounds to me like the rest of it is a "you problem". Again, keep trying to shun and silence people you don't agree with. You'll fall by your own sword in time, because not everyone will agree with you on everything. I'm not going to be blocking you though. This is a discussion forum and if you can't handle people who think differently than you do, I don't know why you are here. Loss
Why are you fighting this fight in this thread? Stop. "Who cares what a homophobic asshole thinks?" does not equal "Homophobic assholes have no right to free speech." Either way, this is a thread about Bobby Heenan's life and legacy, not speech and how we handle disagreement. Take it to feedback if you feel the need to continue this. I see multiple people discussing here, I don't see just one person. So let's not try to scapegoat people here. As I've been saying, if you give someone enough time, you will find something they don't agree with. It turns out that everyone is human and has flaws. Warrior has made some comments people don't like. Heenan took part in a group bullying and public shaming campaign. Two wrong's don't equal a right and in the end, everyone has flaws, but that's being human.
Loss
Ok, bye. To be clear on my reasoning here, had he made that exact same post outside this thread as I asked him to do so this thread could continue to be about Bobby Heenan, I would have been happy to engage him. He didn't. If you have thoughts on this and want to ask questions, please ask them, but please start a thread in Announcements & Feedback and we'll talk there. Let's keep this thread about Heenan. prowresblog
This is what you people do when you cross people you don't agree with. Publicly shame and then silence on technicalities. Now I'll be banned with the justification of using a second account to get past a ban. It's really sad that we can't handle opposing opinions on a board designed for discussion and that's what this is all about in the end. You don't have to worry though. I don't support that kind of behavior and won't be participating in it. At least other sites have the excuse of being paid off.
Jmare007
That was a nice video put together by WWE, did they do another were people talked about him? Would love to hear Vince again. I remember watching the "Greatest Managers" DVD back in the day and being mind-fucked by Vince praising Bobby's wrestling abilities saying "he could have a 5 star match any day of week" or something along those lines. Never in my life I expected Vince to utter those words. This is what you people do when you cross people you don't agree with. Publicly shame and then silence on technicalities. People don't want to have this discussion in a RIP thread, why or how is that hard to understand?. You were told you could continue to have this discussion elsewhere. Why the fuck would you still try to post about the same subject again in this thread? It blows my mind you chose a Bobby Heenan RIP/Appreciation thread to derail the discussion for a really meaningless take about 1 wrestler not liking the guy. cheapshot
A Chicago Tribune story in 1975 about how Bobby Heenan made the crowd so mad that a man fired five shots into the ring trying to kill him. The guy was never arrested and he kept coming back to wrestling shows. Chicago really took that “no snitching” thing to heart back then. WingedEagle
How have I never heard that Heenan story before? Terrific video last night, really looking forward to seeing it again tonight. Beating the drum here, but not until thinking back about Heenan following his passing did it really occur to me how just how prominent he was as I became a wrestling fan and throughout those formative years. I was very much your typical Hogan junkie and then hopped onto Savage when his moment came. The turn heading into 5 made him the biggest heel I'd known to that point. However, Heenan was that constant foil for Mania's before and after, and more importantly throughout the weekly television. He ensured that I was behind behind every single babyface while serving as the glue and arguably most important weekly character on television. Amazing to think about the trust that was put into him compared with basically any color commentator since then.
