Alright, I will hit that match Matt gave me later this evening. Or tomorrow morning, whatever. I had two I was looking at and one is not on youtube so I'd have to do some chicanery to find a way for Matt to watch. So I went with this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5LKear9iLs

It's a tag match from Puerto Rico in 1988. Post-match is as good as the match itself. Watch it all the way through. :)

Okay, if we call it something that is NOT the secret Santo I quit. :)

And secondly, thanks for the match Matt D. Definitely my kind of wrestling and I'd never seen it.

Who am I to doubt El Boricua? Secret Santo sounds good to me.

Thanks for the match. I'm only back on Disc 3 of the PR set and at the rate I'm going, I'd not get to that match for another year. It was a blast.

I'm glad you liked Arn vs Barry. It's amazing how much good wrestling was littered on WCW C shows in the early 90s.

For my trade with laz, I have gone for a safe bet based on his fondness for blood filled, story brawls and have gone for the first meeting of the funks Vs the sheik and Abby in ajpw on 15/12/77

In turn, sir, I present you with a match that actually reminds me more of a late 80s tag than a more modern one, with its production and the moves used being what betrays how recent it is.

Sumerian Death Squad vs. OI4K, CZW WrestleCon 2012

I have heard of both teams here, but I dont think that I have seen any of their stuff before. Then I realise that one of the members of the Sumerian death squad is tommy end aka Alistair black and I know I am in safe hands.

We start with some shoot inspired mat work with end schooling one of the crists. Dante tags in, he looks like a beefy guy, I like him already some nice double teams. End back in, crists take over with a double team codebreaker and qudabra thing. End takes back over with a kick to the gut. Dante in clubs one of the crists. Quick tags beating him up. Jake makes comeback and tags in Dave, he hits a bunch of moves and then some dives. I think Dante screamed Fus Ro Dah at one point. He takes back over. Dante has his nose bust open somehow. Another comeback from the crists, cut off by high kick into German by end, retaliation from Jake with his own kick into tiger suplex, broken up . End knocks Dave out. Nasty double stomp from end. Super rana countered into a double stomp tombstone piledriver WTF. Gets the three count.

I really enjoyed this, it was not an epic but at the same time felt like it could have been if it was the same story but three times the length as it felt like an epic tag match from ajpw in the Olympians era compressed into ten mins. There was zero down time and it flew by. End was violent, dante was stiff and looked badass with blood all over his face, the crists were good as a team taking a kicking but able to make quick comebacks with their innovative offense the look of them was very 80s Crockett just with extra tattoos. They finally were able to string a few moves together one of them being a nuts finisher to get the win. The only problem I see with the match was that due to it being so condensed nothing was given any time and it was back and forth very quick, there were some nasty moves such as the kicks from end or the tiger suplex that were done and then ignored, I would have liked a little more time given to selling these moves, but at its short length it was not a major problem at all. For a star rating I would go around ***1/2 it was very good a damm good upper midcard match

I would like to see more of the death squad as they impressed me as a team here, can anyone recomend me any of their stuff

Alright for Nintendo Logic for an easy test run and since we both have NJPW World I've chosen Yamada vs Funaki 12.27.1987 which I just watched myself and enjoyed.

https://njpwworld.com/p/s_series_00081_1_2

Thanks. I'll try to write it up later tonight.

For you, I pick Io Shirai vs. Shayna Baszler from Stardom on 2/23/17. You had mentioned wanting to get into joshi, and I enjoyed this match quite a bit.

Finally got to sit down and watch you recommended match and wrote my first ever match review(man it was long writing when I got going haha) which I posted in the existing thread for this match,

http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/37268-io-shirai-vs-shayna-baszler-stardom-022317/

Thanks for the recommendation and aside from the few complaints I had in my review I enjoyed this match and it makes me interested in checking out more STARDOM and current Joshi wrestling.

I really like this "Secret Santo" idea and look forward to others reviews and hopefully making this an ongoing thing on the site, thanks again for the recommendation Nintendo Logic.

I found that WingedEagle said his favorite feud was Hogan/Savage so I'm giving him a match they had from a rare taped Detroit House Show at Joe Louis Arena (4/26/1986). It's on the Hogan Unreleased Archives DVD and at this link:

https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x68f9g

Features Ken Resnick's debut on WWF commentary and Jack Reynolds' last appearance.

Thanks, really looking forward to this!

I've been looking forward to tomorrow's Wrestle Kingdom for weeks. Okada's my runaway wrestler of the year and I think his 2017 is in league with the best year any wrestler has ever put together. From some quick browsing it doesn't look like you've commented on or perhaps watched a ton of modern NJPW, so I thought I'd point you to Kazuchika Okada vs. Satoshi Kojima (NJPW 7/27/2017) from last year's G1. Its not his best match of the year or perhaps even among the 5 I'd rate the highest, but its arguably the most different and interesting performance he put in all year. Well worth watching from his intro rather than the bell as its all part of the approach he takes on this night against a vet the crowd is eager to get behind.

I love this match. Baszler more than held her own but this is one hell of a performance from Shirai.

That's perfect. I've heard so much about his amazing year and although I've watched a handful of modern New Japan, I haven't seen any Okada since that big Invasion Attack '13 match aired on AXS. Really looking forward to seeing his current prime stuff.

My match for CapitalTTruth is 2012 Strong Climb Tournament Final between Daisuke Sekimoto and Yoshihito Sasaki

The two biggest "stars" in the Strong division finally face each other in a meaningful singles matches. The both worked earlier in the night for the semis: Sekimoto beat Bad Bones and Yoshihito beat Sami Callihan.

I love me some Daisuke and I haven't seen this. I am looking forward to it.

So I am going to go a little back to give you one of my favorite Joshi matches of all time: Shinobu Kandori vs Bull Nakano from 94 (Chain Match). Takes on this are often a mixed bag as its relatively well known. In turn, though I know you told me you haven't watched much joshi, if you have happened upon this one let me know and I'll fire another one your way.

C.S. assigned me the Kamala vs Andre the Giant steel cage match from 10/21/84 and I went ahead and wrote up a review for the MDA.

http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/40772-andre-the-giant-vs-kamala-wwf-102184/

It's well worth a watch for those who haven't seen it.

I'm really glad you enjoyed the match. It was one of the first ones I watched on the Network. Just the sheer spectacle of it alone intrigued me, but I wasn't expecting a match nearly as fun and well-worked as this one ended up being. For all of the revisionist history people spew about the "limitations" of wrestlers like Andre and Kamala, they knew their characters backwards and forwards - more than most of the "great workers" today who don't have a prayer of being able to connect with the audience the same way these old masters did.

BTW, I haven't forgotten about the match you assigned me - I'm still very excited to watch it and give it a write-up - I just got sidetracked by Jericho vs. Omega today.

Well I'll be damned, that was pretty fucking awesome. Wrote a little review in the thread. Thanks for the recommendation, never really cared to ever catch up on Joshi but this might change my mind.

One week from the start of this will be Tuesday. I think I'll tally who's finished and see if I can reshuffle for week 2 based on that. If someone hasn't had a match suggested yet (especially if they suggested one of their own) I'll have to figure out what to do there. We'll see. So far, so good though.
