C.S.
Someone explain to me the smark hate for Menonous?Prob just a "who the fuck is this" She's interviews stars and tries to be one. Just always trying to get herself over. Like Pillman said to Dok, "Hold the mic Hendrix. You're the prop now" Ive never heard anything but great things about her. Shes apparently one of the genuinely nice people in Hollywood. Wrestling fans are generally terrible people. Fuck everyone who runs down Menonous for no reason. Do I care one iota about her? No. But her presence isn't harming anything, and she's having the time of her life, so what's the problem? It was especially embarrassing when she was booed at the HOF. All of those trash fans should have been kicked out of the ceremony. In fact, I have no idea why the fans are even allowed to attend it - they add absolutely nothing to the show and actively take away from it. KawadaSmile
I just want Rey vs Rusev and Rey vs Cesaro tbh. Rey vs ____ is a match that I want. There just isn't anyone in the current roster that he couldn't have at least a solid match with. INCLUDING useless garbage like Bray Wyatt. DMJ
You put Rey at 30 and let him win the thing and I think it would've been interesting. On one hand, it would've been a "big name part-timer" going over and there'd be a portion of the audience that would shit on it, but is there a bigger dream match than Styles/Rey that the WWE could reasonably put on that doesn't involve Daniel Bryan coming out of retirement? Obviously, Nakamura/AJ has some strong pull with the audience, but Mysterio is a still a step above in 2018.

I think it's a little different if the part timer is an smaller internet darling workrate guy, one that had been held back over the years. KawadaSmile
You can still find lots of resistance to the idea that Rey is not one of the best wrestlers ever - as in, top 5 ever. There are still much more people ready to rank HBK or Bret as #1 without even considering Rey in the discussion.

It's funny that because he wasn't pushed as a legend and being a great worker wasn't incorporated into his gimmick, people think he isn't a legend and a great worker. El-P
Ok, who doesn't think Rey is one of the greatest ever at this point ? Seriously now, he was pushed as an unbelievable wrestler back in WCW.

Oh yeah, but in WWE-land he was never as explicitly portrayed as the great 'performer' or 'showstopper' in that weird half-kayfabe/half-shoot way like Shawn and Bret were. Especially Shawn. Seriously now, he was pushed as an unbelievable wrestler back in WCW. I don't. Always liked him and thought he was strong and consistent over an incredibly long period. But if I had to rank my top 100 matches, maybe even 200, I don't know if he'd have many, if any, appearances. Perhaps I place undue weight on home runs, but he's very much a singles and doubles guy in my book.

Oh yeah, but in WWE-land he was never as explicitly portrayed as the great 'performer' or 'showstopper' in that weird half-kayfabe/half-shoot way like Shawn and Bret were. Especially Shawn. Oh yeah, the WWE Narrative is all fucked up and the only reason Shawn is viewed as highly as he is to me (and that actually includes Meltz too, for whatever reason). I was thinking in the more broader sense. Well, you'll always find *someone* not enjoying something or someone to the extent most do of course (I'm that guy quite regularly ). But I do think Rey is mostly revered as both a legend and an all-time great.
NintendoLogic
Actually, Meltzer is completely dismissive of the idea of Shawn as a GOAT contender. Sure, Bret and Shawn have been pushed as all-time greats by the official WWE narrative. But so have HHH and Cena, and I don't think fans buy them on that level. And WWE fans voted Bret as the greatest champion of all time during a period when he was on the outs with the company. Having the narrative on your side helps, but only so much. The very nicest thing Stacey's ever done for me was let me take her #3 GWE pick and make the 619 rant instead of her. http://placetobenation.com/parejas-increibles-7-greatest-wrester-ever-part-7-11-1/ (2:43:00 mark or so) I'm sure she would have more of a potty mouth about it (and in listening back for the first time in a year and a half she follows with said potty mouth). NintendoLogic
I'm mildly surprised that WWE allowed him to do the 619 after it literally killed a guy. Sure, it was a freak accident. But so was the Muscle Buster to Tyson Kidd.
Kadaveri
Joe was still doing the Muscle Buster 18 months after the Tyson Kidd injury, including once off a steel cage on Finn Balor. With Shawn though, WWE has always specifically pushed him as being the GOAT in-ring performer, whereas with HHH or Cena it's more of kayfabe 'greatest ever' accolade. Like you often hear them nowadays calling AJ Styles 'today's Shawn Michaels' and stuff to get over how exciting he is to watch, they never use HHH/Cena to make that point. El-P
AJ Styles is not in the same universe as Shawn Michaels. People are sleeping on how great he was in TNA since the very beginning and despite Russo treating him like a joke. Quite frankly, at this point, if another GWE poll was to happen, I would have Styles as a sure Top 10. Top 5 maybe. So I rewatched the women's Rumble. Loved it again. Accusation of sloppiness ? Because the men's Rumble don't have that ? Come on now, most of the guys don't know how the fuck to work around the ropes anyway, it's been the case for almost 20 years. Seriously, when you put everything in perspective (by that I mean the use of the old-timers making a comeback just for the occasion and filling a lot of the spots because of roster constraint), it was not only clearly one of the top tier Rumble, but simply one of the best ever. And Becky Lynch's performance there can't be praised enough.
WingedEagle
I really need to rewatch the women's Rumble. In the moment, I thought the nostalgia was great and they did a terrific job pushing certain individuals. There were a bunch of other moments I remember being a big fan of, but also found myself stuck on how many frequent and prolonged breaks various stars would take where they just disappear. That, along with the action between Asuka & Nikki at the finish brought it down a bit for me. But I may very much have been nitpicking about the breaks and power naps that seemed to be happening during the match and look forward to revisiting it in the days or weeks ahead.
