Johnny Sorrow
That clip of Alvarez losing his mind at Meltzer about the AEW overrun issue with YouTube TV and DVR's is hilarious. Alvarez can be a tool but he was completely right and listening to him lose it on Dave is some funny shit.
Embrodak
“Format your show competently or work with your broadcast partner to build in an overrun so people don’t have to do trickery to record it properly and see the whole thing” is a pretty low bar as far as expectations go, idk why Dave felt the need to be defensive about that. Kinda harms your objectivity as a journalist if you can’t even be antagonistic to the object of your coverage on something so trivial. fxnj
Do people still regard Dave as a reliable news source? It's well documented how badly he dropped the ball with the big Punk and Rock stories, but I'm also noticing a lot of other bizarre misinformation that gets quickly debunked. Examples from the latest newsletter are him claiming Dreamer is head of TNA creative and that CMLL wrestlers can't appear on the same AEW shows as non-CMLL wrestlers. He's always been to some degree, but the last two years or so have been especially poor. Maybe his age is catching up to him
NintendoLogic
Dave clarified that non-CMLL Mexican wrestlers can't wrestle on the same show as CMLL wrestlers, which appears to be true. The original report was sloppy wording on his part, which is a recurring issue for him. Another example is the HOF voting criteria. He uses "historical significance" and "historical influence" interchangeably, but the latter is a much higher standard. You think he would know better given the army of losers who seem to have nothing better to do than to pick apart his every word for inaccuracies both real and imagined, but I guess not. C.S.
Dave Meltzer may have lost a step or two - I'm not sure - but Dave Scherer re-solidifies his toxic reputation with tweets like this: I don't know about you, but I'd still trust Meltzer over the fawning sycophant masquerading as a "journalist" who worked for promotions and gave them biased coverage, and whose website used to (and maybe still does) infect its readers' devices with spyware. About the only positive is that he possibly wasn't as bad as Bob Ryder and eventually got out of bed with him, but that's faint "praise." PeteF3
Regardless, Meltzer has an absolutely brutal week. In one issue of the Observer he had the CMLL-AEW policy mess, he named Tommy Dreamer as the head of creative for TNA which PWInsider and SRS both raced to debunk, and then somehow in his Smackdown recap he recapped a backstage segment between Rock and Triple H from like 10 years ago that was making the rounds on Twitter for some reason. Somehow Triple H looking 10 years younger (when many including Dave himself have pointed out how much he's aged recently) and Stephanie's presence didn't tip him off that this was old footage. strobogo
Everything about the Rock/WM stuff has been embarrassing for Dave. Dude has reported 5 different "this is the real story" updates, and it is so clear he's not clued in at all.

Boss Rock
Don't really have issue with much of these, but Ospreay winning Thesz/Flair is surprising. I probably shouldn't have expected voters to want to go with Reigns, but not even Cody?

Hardly throwing shade. He acknowledged what Dutch said about certain individuals who despite those comments made generous donations to Dutch. He didn't even touch on the things that Dutch has said and viewpoints he's espoused, or the hypocrisy associated with someone who's spoken that way looking for handouts. In fact, its quite likely that Dave and others have been all too light on Dutch Mantell.
