Im struggling to enjoy WWE on a weekly basis. Ill only really watch a segment if Ive read about it in the news as I never watch Raw or Smackdown alough ill surf the results and if I see something like Goldberg squashing Lesnar or say Hardyz winning matches on Raw I will youtube WWE's channel and watch that segment but the only thing I will watch in full is Wrestlemania PPV or the 30 man Rumble match. Im not really enjoying the current stars alough I do like Ambrose but the only thing that really keeps me interested is the nostalgia part when a part timer will come back but again im only watching that segment.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
iamthedoctor replied to TravJ1979's topic in Pro Wrestling
Was there any likelyhood of Flair coming into WWE back in 1988 as it seems so odd when Flair was still on top at this time doing so well for himself. The only info I could find was a article that said it came from Flair's book. -
Is there a drop of Prime Time Wrestling coming soon?
-
Hogan coming into Wrestlemania 9 and taking the belt off that dastardly Yokozuna & Fuji. A nice pop from the crowd cheering Hogan on to take the title. Greatest Wrestlemania moment ever.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?

Josh Matthew's is TNA's version of Michael Cole's heel turn a few years ago. -
Sgt. Slaughter taking the belt away from the Warrior was a bit shocking, looking back. Should have kept it on the Warrior and had the big money rematch with Hogan.

Arn vs Roma likely as well. There is an Arn TV interview post-Battlebowl (where he never ended up wrestling) that seems to allude to Roma having officially turned on him there. Roma turned on Erik Watts at the event, so he still went heel but ended up teaming with Orndorff vs Bagwell and Scorpio. I don't think Bossman would've wrestled at Starrcade if he wasn't a hot shot replacement for Davey, especially losing so soon. WCW 1994 before Hogan has always been interesting. Ive heard that Flair once he got in as booker changed the outcome so he walked out with the title unless that was the Starrcade match. Regarding NWA what was the first Flair/Piper televised match as I was interested in their WWE feud and I heard they feuded over the US title back in the early 80s and wondered what footage exists from that time. Ive seen the odd promo they did on youtube and there was a handful of house show matches captured via fancam but any TV stuff televised? -
A ECW announce team on a WCW show? WOW! Im guessing Schavoine wouldn't have been resigned as he had been with WCW for years.

Did Honky ever address the rumours of a supposed Flair/Savage match at Summerslam 88?

Mr. McMahon is probably the best heel character in wrestling history. Vince was willing to do whatever it took to get the babyface over, which is most of the reason why it doesn't work when anyone else tries to copy it. They get the asshole boss part down pat, but forget the part where you stooge all over the place to make the babyface strong. No one else does that part, due to the usual fragile wrestler ego syndrome, where Vince didn't have to worry about that since he owned the company and didn't care if he looked like a goofball. While Vince did a great job at playing a heel I don't think he was as good as Piper was at inciting a crowd. Im sure some historian on here could give a valid point as to why Piper was so great at playing a heel.

What was the whole deal with USWA TV during the early 1990s? When I was reading about various matches in PWI on TV it was different showing stuff like Lawler vs Gaylord or Kerry Von Erich losing his trunks during a battle royale to which they put a black spot up. No idea if this was legit or not cos in WWE when Jake ripped Rudes trunks he was wearing a thong but |USWA it seemed more like a accident and not planned.

This one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nGZKeJICKw Also it looks like there is a youtube uploader https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHDjwPjvzrJhAx4wvRmKdRg that has practically copied the entire Landy channel minus the Coliseum video stuff so at least all of Richard's stuff is out there still.

Cornette said on his podcast they filmed 90 mins worth of footage. Why cant they just air these things uncut?

What if, the WWF went with the original plans for WM4?

I suppose logically that means Hogan/Zeus headlines Mania 6 if Warrior's push never happens. -
The only gripe I have with Raw's from 2000 is no more Attitude Extra segments after the broadcast. Really wanted to see the Earl Hebner People's Elbow on Vince.

Would Beefcake have been in the finals instead against Dibiase? I've heard this story from various shoots about Dibiase supposed to win but back in 1988 would Vince really have let a Bad Guy win the Mania Main Event? Back then Vince wanted to send the fans home happy. -
This one I found quite interesting. Bret's take on the year 1992. Bret talks about a conversation about Chief Jay Strongbow where Bret was one of 5 or so names of guys who would be the next world champion. Has there been any talk about who the other names were? I know by this time Bulldog was IC champ so would that rule him out of being a top contender? Trying to think who possibly could have been on the list I think Tatanka could have been a viable contender with him being undefeated from early 92, maybe Undertaker as he had a short run the previous year. I don't think Macho would have regained it if they were looking for someone different, same for Warrior as I know they had house show matches the previous month.
-
This one would be interesting if they filmed it. Hogan, Savage & Steamboat vs Harts & Honky with Andre in their corner. Can't remember too many matches where Savage & Steamboat tagged up.

I've been listening to Stone Cold's podcast with Eric Bischoff and I always thought after WCW ended there was a PPV coming called Big Bang or something as a revival of WCW. However according to this Bischoff claims had he & his buddies bought WCW with a TV deal he said it would have gone away for a few months before coming back. Would we likely have seen all the WCW guys who were around March 2001 or would it have just been guys who signed long term deals?
-
Im hoping these DVDs will have alot of matches on them because a Owen Hart vs jobber match cant be taking up more than 5 mins.
-
I think possibly we still would have had the Mr. McMahon character anyway because he was getting boo's way before Survivor Series 97 and verbally battling with Austin. I suppose the Harts/Austin feud would have lasted till Mania and eventually Bret would have wrestled Angle. As for Shawn I dunno, probably would have worked a few matches then retired.
-
Sounds like they are going to release stuff from the TV tapings that have never been seen before. I wonder if they will show a Roberts/Hogan match because this will be as good as any time to show the match and the incident on the Snake Pit where Hogan gets the DDT. I remember ages ago seeing a picture of Hogan in the ring with Giant Gonzalez which looked like a controntation. No idea if this was part of a TV tapings or not as I could only find

See this is what really bugs me about other wrestling forums, people have a habit of complaining about the Mania 9 finish who were either too young to remember or now suddenly changed their mind but Hulk got the biggest reaction of the night when he beat Yoko for the belt. Back in 1993 would we really have wanted mania to end with Yokozuna with the belt?

Do you reckon Undertaker will stay retired or is there possibly a small chance he will come back next year?
