Im not so sure its a shocker when you look at how many times he was jobbing to Neville. They made a big mistake not putting this match on the big PPV at Mania and actually have Aries win it as thats the reason he was chasing the belt. Sticking it on the preshow was a terrible idea.

I couldnt stand Christian during his initial push when he split from Edge and had Tomko but I quickly became a fan when he went to ECW and won the belt. Its a shame he was never given a fair run with a world title because Vince McMahon doesnt see him as a main eventer and he was only given the title because Edge retired and Vince did this as a favour to Edge (according to the Dirtsheets).

If there is one thing I would never do and thats go digital, all the stories about data loss and crashes really puts me off going that way and plus I wouldnt be able to watch it on my TV. For me I have my DVDs in big 240 DVD cases and they have their own show in them so one maybe will have WCW Worldwide 1983 - 1988 or another would have WWF Raw 1993 - 1996 and I try to put them in order of when a show first aired so sitting next to Raw is Smackdown. Ideally I would have put everything in broadcast order the way it aired on TV but it could look a bit cluttered. Ive virtually no interest in having everything transferred to Blu Ray because it cost a fortune to get everything to DVD.

Random Reasons why people stopped watching wrestling
iamthedoctor replied to Strummer's topic in Pro Wrestling
At the time I hated it too because I wanted to see Hogan get the title back after Tunney screwed him over in the last match when Flair got involved. This was probably the first time on a WWE PPV a heel went over, but it didnt stop me watching because I wanted to see Hogan kick Flair's ass and take the title back, alough we had to wait 2 years later to get that and seeing Savage beat Flair was just as good. But what I did find odd is when WCW closed down because they had alot of fans watching even when the numbers were down and they chose Nitro over Raw, I expected these fans to tune into WWE TV when WCW ended but seemed like they just stopped watching and wouldnt conform to a WWE fan. -
Has WWE secretly added extra footage into the Attitude Era Raws? I could have sworn the April 13th 1998 episode ended like the TV version was but now im seeing a extra 8 man tag match featuring DX & Kane vs LOD, Austin & Undertaker.
-
WWF side im tempted to say Jake Roberts.
-
Deffinately pre 1996, the Attitude Era at times tends to get overatted and id be happy to stick to just watching 80s matches.

Daniel Bryan abusing his power again.

What happened to Al during his time in WWE? I remember seeing him on a odd episode of Prime Time I think he went to a draw against either Rooster or Santana and then pretty much didnt see him. They must have had some interest in a push because he didnt lose the matches I saw but I do remember him on USWA TV back then when it must have been several years old probably footage from World Class or something as he had a title and was challenging either Kerry or Flair. -
Hard to beat Garvin smacking jobbers around the WTBS studios. I also really enjoyed Buzz Sawyer's rugged mat game in 82-83 GCW. '96 Taz dropping Spike and Mikey on their heads every week was a lot of fun too. Sid in '92 where they'd put the wimpy on a stretcher after the slaying. Flair is easily one of my least favorite squash workers. He just gives way too much and doesn't have an impact finisher so it either takes too long to set up the F4 or falls flat. Speaking of Ronnie Garvin I remember in 89 he had this match on Superstars against a masked man where he was belting him on the chest with chops where it was bright red. Think the name was The Gladiator or something.

If the extras have been debunked by WrestlingDVDnews where did that match list come from? Sure 411 announced it but who was their source.

I don't see how hes regarded as a bad wrestler especially back then, he was great in the ring. Loved his matches.

WWE Week 6/19-6/26: Post MITB, Braun Return, Roman Being Roman
iamthedoctor replied to fakeplastictrees's topic in WWE
To do that on a PPV and then give a rematch away for free is a odd decision. Its not like we are in the WWE vs WCW era where it was all about ratings. Maybe Carmella should have just cashed it in at the PPV and won the title. Id love it if Joe won the title as im not really looking forward to Brock holding it just so he can give it to Roman at Mania, Brock wont do a regular scheduele so we would get very limited title defenses. -

That was such a stupid part of Smackdown. Carmella made a solid argument defending her win. Everyone else cried about it and didn't make any valid points. Then Daniel Bryan sided with the crybabies. Everyone came out worse. Daniel Bryan looks like an emotional moron. Charlotte looked like a heel instead of a face. Carmella looks like the sympathetic face instead of the underhanded heel. Becky complained for the billionth time. Tamina was almost ok, until she botched her promo and repeated Charlottes insult. I guess the whole thing kind of suited Natties new character. But she'd be the lone exception whose character wasn't damaged. I hope her and Ellsworth go all the way and cheat harder to win the briefcase THEN cash in after the Womens title match and Carmella takes home the gold. Fed up with the women moaning like a bunch of playground mums. -
Coincidentally there is talk of ideas of doing a Warrior & Savage unseen matches sets so if that does happen would probably be where Kamala/Warrior would get put.
-
Found some really bad news about the set. Why couldnt they just release a Blu Ray version to include them?
-
Id probably go with Kid/Razor from May 93 because of the shocking finish.
-
Really disapointed that they didnt give us Savage vs Taker when they teased the match on youtube ages ago. Very pleased to see Dibiase/Sid as had heard about this in PWI along with the Piper/Blawler Pit. I know they are thinking about a idea to have a Warrior DVD and a Savage DVD called unseen matches so there is hope.
-
For me I would have thought he'd beat Flair at Starrcade 87 for the World Title possibly as US Champion so he could have been a double champion as I heard before his Car Accident he was due to regain the US Title. Im sure he would probably hold the title for a good while before dropping it back to Flair as I reckon Sting & Luger would still get their pushes but Magnum possibly retiring sometime in 93. I don't see him jumping ship at all.

I have to disagree being a huge Hogan mark and im happy to accept he made a mistake for saying those things. Everyone deserves a second chance even though it was a private conversation. I enjoyed Hogan's wrestling shows particulary his house show matches and stuff in Japan. Hulk is the only guy who had a sucessful Face & Heel run, other wrestlers has been one or the other, kinda like Flair who was great as a heel but not as good as a Face. -
Im not sure how Hogan & Dustin would have clashed. It seems when Dustin came in his father was slowly leaving WWE anyway and Dustin went to a draw with Ted on TV so its not like they saw him as a guy to beat Dibiase for a megapush. Time Hogan came to WCW in 94 it wasen't long before Dustin got fired in 95 anyway. I remember them having a match on Thunder in 2000.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
iamthedoctor replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
One of the many things that astounds me about TNA - I'm sorry, I mean IMPACT - right now is this... You have two hours of TV a week. You have a young, and in many cases virtually unknown roster to try and get over. So what do you do? Devote a ridiculous amount of TV time to an absolutely pointless and cringe-worthy storyline involving your two ANNOUNCERS feuding. Do they actually think people are going to tune in to see what comes of the amazing Jeremy Borash vs. Josh Mathews feud? Are they really that dense? Is Impact's Josh Matthews in this feud supposed to be their own version of a heel Michael Cole? -
That would be a shame if true as the whole point in this collection is supposed to be matches that have never been seen before and not previously available on home video. That is what made Attitude Era unseen unique.

TNA is a odd promotion as Ive tried to get into it at times then just lose interest in the product. Back when tape trading was about I was buying tapes of the weekly PPVs and they were good but not every week but they did have alot of suprises. Impact I caught the first episode and I remember watching when Hogan initially coming in and when RVD beat Styles for the title but after the Van Dam I again lost interest. I tried to follow it several years later but everything had changed too much for me so I no longer follow it. -
Ive not checked the network out in a while because Firefox just takes ages and ages to load the video up but any ideas what years they've covered so far? I know they first started with 1986 so was curious if 87, 88 & 89 all turned up.
