  1. I thought the transition between Masami's arm work and Yamazaki's attack on the leg was really awkward, but other than that I loved this. Masami sold the leg after it had been hit and Yamazaki was selling the arm throughout. I also liked some of the less-than-obvious counters in the early stages. Masami has great facial expressions and this is easily both the best and my favorite joshi match I've seen. Then again, I'm only interested in workrate if it serves a purpose, which most everything in this match did.
  2. I'm pretty sure Tonga is like the Holy Grail of non-revered/heavily pushed guys of this time for the project. He's just way too good to not right the historical wrongs of the world.
  3. Original airdate December 29th, 1985 (I got behind over Christmas weekend and needed to catch up. Good thing I have a long weekend.) (Originally airing in Spanish on WAPA Channel 4 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This broadcast is translated to English where applicable.) The opening montage featuring highlights of Carlos Colon, Chicky Starr, Invader 1, Invader 2, Invader 3, Abdullah the Butcher, Hercules Ayala and Dutch Mantell plays. Carlos Colon doing a cartwheel and coming up fists at the ready leads to the WWC logo as the music ends. NWA and Capitol Sports Presenta Los Campeones De La Lucha Libre Con Tus Luchadores Favoritos De Fama Mundial Rickin Sanchez and Hugo Savinovich sit smiling at the commentary desk in Coliseo Municipal Pedro Rodriguez Gaya De Catano. Rickin: Hello lucha libre fans and welcome to another hour of World Wrestling Council action. Alongside me tonight, as always, is my friend and colleague Hugo Savinovich. Hugo: Thanks Rickin! We've got a great show tonight!! Rickin: Last Saturday we had a big show in Roberto Clemente Coliseum. There is some major fallout from that card and we'll do what we can to get you up to date. Hugo: So much to talk about!! Rickin: We will also be announcing several of the matches for our show on Three Kings Day. We have great wrestling action as well. Gama Singh will be making his return to Puerto Rico. Huracan Castillo Jr. and Miguelito Perez will also have a match tonight. Hugo: They need to regain some momentum after their loss on December 23rd! Rickin: That match was not won under the best of circumstances, but as you have said in the past the referee counted to three. Invader 1 will be in action as well. Super Medico 1 will be in singles action. Los Mercenarios will be in a tag team match. Hugo: They made quite an impression in Roberto Clemente Coliseum! We won't be seeing Dutch Mantell for a while! Rickin: I wonder who Dutch made angry enough to send los Mercenarios after him. We'll be showing you some footage from NWA Starrcade involving Jonathan Boyd, the Crusher and Bam Bam in a NWA World Six Man title match. Hugo: Who knew Bam Bam would have a chance at gold THIS soon?!? Rickin: We'll be talking with Ricky Santana. Chicky Starr has promised us a surprise in his Sports Shop. Hugo: I know he'll deliver! Rickin: I have reason to believe he may not. I will be talking with los Invaders. Los Mercenarios will be talking to us as well. Hugo: Maybe they will tell us who put out that bounty on Mantell!! Rickin: That seems unlikely. We will also have recorded comments from Barrabas. Hugo: Think he'll have some gold to talk about?!? Rickin: We'll have to wait and see. Tonight's first match is ready to start. The crowd is cheering for Gama Singh on his way to the ring. Hugo: He has gotten more popular! Rickin: Yes, he has allied himself with los Invaders and Carlitos Colon in the recent past and the crowd has warmed up to him. Hugo: Why does the crowd only warm up to wrestlers who have become friends with Colon?!? Rickin: You and I are both very aware that Carlitos Colon is easily the most popular wrestler in Puerto Rico. You have to understand that the crowd will support his friends. Hugo: I do, doesn't make it right! Rickin: We all have our perspectives on that Hugo. We're ready to start the match. Armandito Salgado vs. Gama Singh Singh is all over Salgado with punches and brawling tactics. Salgado makes a short comeback, but Singh hits a few slams and locks in the camel clutch for the submission. Gama Singh by submission in 4:48 with a camel clutch Rickin: Big win for Gama Singh in his return to the WWC. Hugo: He could be very successful under the right management! Rickin: I know who you're talking about and I disagree. Up next we'll be talking to Huracan Castillo Jr. and Miguelito Perez before their match. We'll be right back. (Commercial Break ) 0-8:00 Rickin: Welcome back lucha libre fans. We now take you to an interview taped before the show in the locker room. Cut to Huracan Castillo Jr. and Miguelito Perez standing in front of a row of lockers with Miguel Perez standing next to Rickin Sanchez. Rickin: I'm here with Miguel Perez, manager for Huracan Castillo Jr. and Miguelito Perez. Your young men lost a close match las Saturday due to the interference of Barrabas. How have they been taking that loss. Perez: At first they were very disappointed, and I understand that. They had Boyd and the Crusher in a position where they could have won it. But, like I told them, Barrabas was telling everyone who would listen that these boys didn't stand a chance against Boyd and the Crusher. I'd say they have proven they more than stand a chance. Rickin: I would as well, and the way the crowd was reacting told me the fans are definitely getting behind these two young men. Perez: I noticed that too, Rickin. It's getting close to the time where these twpo young men make their own way instead of letting old men like me live vicariously through them. Rickin: I'm sure neither Huracan Castillo or your son feel that way. Perez: They are getting more and more independent, and that's something I have been trying to encourage Rickin. My way isn't necessarily their way and I'm looking forward to becoming just another fan that respects and enjoys seeing these two in the ring. Just a lot more invested and proud. Rickin: Kind words Miguel. Huracan Castillo Jr. the two of you have some work ahead of you if you want another chance at Boyd and the Crusher. At least if I know Barrabas half as well as I think I do. Castillo: Mr. Perez has been telling us that, yeah. Barrabas is going to be scared that we will embarrass his men and I don't blame him. For a guy who is supposed to be a big deal, the Crusher really isn't that tough. Rickin: Your father seems to think the two of you are ready for bigger things, Miguelito. Perhaps even your own direction away from him as your manager. Your thoughts on that? Miguelito: Huracan and I have been coming together as a team recently. I can see he's getting a lot more confident both in the ring and while we train. I'm not going to say that I'm in a hurry to see my father leave. It's been a great experience working with him as closely as I have. Rickin: You're doing a great job keeping these young men on the right path Miguel. Perez: I hardly have to do anything anymore Rickin. I have talked to commissioner Pedro Castillo that he is as proud as I am of these two. Rickin: It looks like Miguel Perez has his young team back on track after a tough loss. Now back to the arena. Cut back to the arena and a shot of the desk. Hugo: I wonder how long that happy family stays happy! Rickin: I'd say they have a pretty strong bond Hugo. The fans are still supporting Castillo and both Perez's on their way to the ring. Hugo: And they can't seem to focus on the match in front of them because of it! Rickin: Interacting with the fans on the way to the ring is not a lack of focus Hugo. If that was all they did once the match started I would agree with you. Hugo: Maybe if they had put less energy into making the fans happy at Roberto Clemente Coliseum they would have won! Rickin: I'm pretty sure Barrabas tripping Castillo up late in the match is what kept them from victory. There is the bell and here we go. Mr. Y & Z vs. Huracan Castillo Jr. & Miguelito Perez Castillo and Perez again use their quick teamwork to control the match. Perez hits a big powerslam late. He pulls Mr. Y up and holds his arms as Castillo comes off the top with a missile dropkick. Castillo covers for the three. Los Mercenarios are seen in the entrance during the match. Huracan Castillo Jr. & Miguelito Perez by pinfall in 5:12 with an assisted missile dropkick Hugo: That's a good way to rebound from a loss! Rickin: It certainly is. Miguel is congratulating his two charges and both are smiling. The fans are celebrating as well. Hugo: How many losses to Boyd and the Crusher before the fans stop caring? Rickin: (long pause) We'll be back with an announcement about January 6th and Chicky Starr's Sports Shop. Super Medico 1 will have a singles match as well. Hugo: What did I say?!? Rickin: It's nothing Hugo. It's just some of the things that come out of your mouth...we'll be right back fans. Don't go anywhere. (Commerical Break) 8:00-17:00 Hugo: Weeee're Baaaack!! Rickin: And Hugo's favorite part of the show is here. Hugo: Bam Bam is HERE?!? Rickin: I guess now his second favorite part. Hugo: OH! Chicky's Sports Shop time!! Let's go visit!! The intro for the Sports Shop plays and we come to Chicky walking into the Shop with the masked man Rambo and Victor. Victor hands both microphones and takes his familiar arms across his chest pose in the background. Chicky: Well, well, it seems we lost our match on December 23rd, through no fault of my own, AND I still have my hair. I bet that just makes commissioner Pedro Castillo so happy! Rambo chuckles as Chicky grins. Chicky: And the man I have to thank for that is sitting right next to me. I told all of you that I have a surprise this week and here it is! Rambo unmasks to reveal an American with curly blond hair and a mustache. Chicky: The man you know as Rambo is in fact my cousin, Rambo Ron Starr. Did anyone really think I didn't have a plan? I knew there was a chance that los Invaders and Carlitos Colon (Chicky spits) might win. And there is a silver lining to all of this. You want to know what it is? Rambo Ron Starr gets an inquisitive look on his face. Chicky: The suspense is killing you isn't it? We put one over on EVERYONE! My cousin, my most faithful ally was going to be your new favorite in the WWC. Such a nice American who plays by the rules. HAH! (Switching to English.) Ron, how does it feel to be able to cut loose and use everything in your matches now? Ron: You have no idea Chicky. Playing nice for these fans made me sick. Chicky: Was it worth it? Ron: Oh you shoulda seen the look on Santana's face! That alone was worth it. The Invaders, who by the way tried to recruit me, were very unhappy. Chicky: Thank you for that. When you told me they tried to recruit you it made my week! (Back to Spanish): I'm sure this will make me even more popular with Carlitos Colon's fan club. Even though los Infenrales were failures in the end, I did learn one thing. All three of them, Satanico most of all, LOVED that all of you idiots hated him. They always tried to tell me how that could fuel a man just as much as the cheers. Since it seems you idiots don't see that I am the true hero here, maybe it's time I started thinking like that! Chicky pauses to settle down. Chicky: I have also been busy since last Saturday. Carlitos Colon is getting too comfortable with the NWA WWC Universal Championship. I have hired Bruiser Brody and Abdullah the Butcher to make sure he is relieved of it. I know these men are mortal enemies, but if you pay them enough money and keep them apart it can work. Far, far apart. It seems as if Abdullah has a major distraction of late, one I will be assisting him in removing. While I am ridding the WWC of Barrabas' new pretender, Bruiser Brody will have me in his corner when he takes the belt away from Carlitos Colon on Three Kings Day. Chicky again pauses, a big grin on his face. Chicky: On Three Kings Day the fans will see Al Madril, Rambo Ron Starr and myself take on los Invaders. Invader 1 and his disciples are probably riding high off of their big win in Roberto Clemente Coliseum. It will just make it all the sweeter when we cut them down to size on January 6th. (Switching to English.) Hey Ronnie, how do you feel about beating up the Invaders on the 6th? Ron: Sounds like a great time to me. We'll make sure to hurt Invader 1 after. Chicky: I like the way you think Ronnie! (Back to Spanish.) And just so you fans know that Don Pedro castillo is doing his job, you should know that I have recieved legal dosuments through my lawlyer from the WWC demanding that I allow my hair to be cut. I will make a solemn promise that on January 6th you will see me without a hair on my head. I have been notified that if I do not have my hair cut by this date, I will be suspended indefinitely. So you can trust me when I say this. I know that los Invaders, Colon, the fans and commissioner Pedro Castillo are enjoying this, but I can promise you one other thing. In the end, you won't! Chicky stalks off-set with Ron in his ear and Victor following. Hugo: Hah! Did you have ANY idea that Rambo was Chicky's cousin?!? Rickin: Did you? Hugo: Of course, I talk to Chicky all the time! Rickin: So you had to be told? Hugo: Well, I... Rickin: We had an announcement of our own, but it seems like Chicky Starr has seen fit to beat us to the punch. Our main event on January 6th will be Bruiser Brody with Chicky Starr in his corner against Carlitos Colon for the NWA WWC Universal title. And Chicky also announced the six man tag we were going to tell you about later. Hugo: He's got a stake in both matches! Can't say he is out of line!! Rickin: I suppose not. I should have known Chicky would mention that match now that I think about it. Super Medico 1 is on his way out to the ring now. Hugo: The fans are a little slow to react! Rickin: I would guess they are still a little angry after that Sports Shop. Super Medico is bringing them around though. Hugo: Why would anyone be angry at Chicky?!? Rickin: One day you might understand Hugo. The referee calls for the bell and it's time for action. El Vikingo vs. Super Medico 1 Medico uses his great punches to control the match early. A suplex by medico sets up a running crossbody for the win. Super Medico 1 by pinfall in 4:37 with a running crossbody. Rickin: Super Medico 1 wins the match and keeps his momentum going. I've heard rumblings of a tournament to crown new NWA Carribean Tag Team champions after the Three Kings Day show. Hugo: Me too! You think Ron & Chicky Starr will be in that tournament?!? Rickin: As much as I would like to say no, I'm pretty sure we will see them. Up next we will have an interview with los Mercenarios before their tag team match. (Commercial Break) 17:00-28:30 Rickin: Hugo Savinovich conducted an interview with los Mercenarios earlier today. Cut to a different locker room, but much the same idea. Los Mercenarios are standing with Hugo Savinovich. Hugo: I'm here with los Mercenarios, who have successfully achieved their first goal in the WWC! I'm sure Dutch Mantell will be feeling the effects of that attack for months! Mercenario 1: That's the idea. We got paid to hurt the man and that's what we did. Dutch has never been well-liked and I can say I don't like him. So I'll admit to enjoying it more than a little. Hugo: You're still here, so that must mean you have more work to do. Have you been contacted about the upcoming tournament for the WWC Carribean Tag Team championships? Mercenario 1: We have and will be taking part in the tournament. Hugo: Not for gold that goes around the waist though! Mercenario 1: Smart man. Let's just say it's going to be well worth it for us. Hugo: Do you worry that your actions will make you a target for other wrestlers? Mercenario: We know it will. Come after us if you like. We can take care of ourselves. Hugo: Anyone who has watched in recent weeks knows that!! Pay no attention to those fans who like to boo and throw things! Mercenario 1: We never did. Not that many of them will mourn Dutch Mantell's leaving for a while. Hugo: Do you worry that Dutch will come back looking for vengeance? Mercenario 1: He probably will. Better bring friends, Dutch Mantell, or just keep your bags packed and the doctor's office on notice. Hugo: Los Mercenarios are feeling very confident after their success in Roberto Clemente Coliseum. Cut back to the arena. Rickin: Well done Hugo. There are still mixed boos and cheers for los Mercenarios as they walk out. Hugo: Dutch Mantell was not well-liked. Maybe these fans will appreciate him more when he comes back!! Rickin: They might. I imagine it depends on his attitude and how he handles himself. Hugo: You said yourself that he was deserving of respect! Rickin: I did and I believe that. Whether or not these fans see it that way is a different thing entirely. Los Mercenarios are attacking los Tejanos before the match starts. Los Tejanos vs. Los Mercenarios Mercenarios are their usual brawling selves, even more confident and aggressive. They get the win with the rib breaker by Mercenario 1 setting up the splash by Mercenario 2. Los Mercenarios by pinfall in 4:09 with a rib breaker/splash combo Hugo: Dominant performance by los Mercenarios! Rickin: They are looking very confident. Hugo: As they should! Rickin: They have been successful in their own way so far. We'll be back with an interview with los Invaders before Invader 1's match. Don't touch that dial fans. (Commercial Break) 28:30-36:00 Rickin: We're back and we have an interview from earlier today with los Invaders. Cut to the same locker room as Castillo/Perez with all three Invaders and Rickin. Rickin: You three and Carlitos Colon defeated los Infernales and Chicky Starr last Saturday. Which means los Infernales are no longer wrestling in the WWC. After they took the tag titles from you and Invader 2, that has to be a great feeling Invader 1. Invader 1: It definitely is. They were tough opponents, and I really wanted to respect them. Some would say it was that they allied with Chicky Starr. I would say they were natural allies. Chicky and los Infernales are all opportunists. They take shortcuts. I think we could have had great matches with them if they would have wrestled us man-to-man. But we all know that wasn't going to happen and they are gone because of it. Rickin: Chicky Starr managed to avoid his haircut after the match. Invader 1: With some unexpected help. I'm begging commissioner Pedro Castillo to let me give him that haircut personally. Rickin: Invader 2, you must have heard about the upcoming tournament to crown new NWA WWC Carribean Tag champions. I can only guess that you and Invader 1 will be taking part. Invader 2: We will. I can only hope we run into Chicky Starr and Rambo in the tournament. Los Infernales may have taken the belts from us, but Chicky Starr is the reason why. We have yet to pay that back. Knocking Chicky out of contention for the tag belts sounds like great payback to me. Rickin: Invader 3, you personally won the match with assistance from Invader 1. And you got to avenge the loss your comrades suffered at the hands of Pirata Morgan. I would guess you're pretty happy with that. Invader 3: Happy doesn't begin to cover it. We came through for Carlitos Colon and the fans. Who got the actual victory is not near as big as that. But you know I loved being able to put the finishing touches on los Infernales by pinning Morgan. Rickin: One of the matches we've heard about from the Three Kings Day show involves the three of you against Al Madril, Rambo and Chicky Starr. Invader 1: It's a chance to keep things moving in the right direction and get an advantage going into this tournament. We're coming in really good, but we have to watch for Chicky Starr's...inventive tactics. Rickin: He does seem to have cards up his sleeve. Invader 1: Always. We're going to be ready for anything. And I am again going to beg. (Invader 1 gets on his knees.) Please let me cut Chicky's hair. I know you were looking forward to it, commissioner Castillo. But I want nothing more than to see Chicky's face as I cut his hair. Rickin: It seems like los Invaders are ready for their match on January 6th. Cut back to the arena. Hugo: Invader 1 REALLY wants to cut Chicky's hair! Rickin: They have a bitter history and I doubt it will ever be fully reconciled. Invader 1 gets a huge reaction from the crowd. Hugo: Invader 1 should just apologize for betraying Chicky!! Rickin: I hardly think he needs to apologize for anything. He tried to help Chicky. Hugo: By keeping him out of big matches?!? Making sure Chicky Starr didn't surpass Invader 1, his teacher?!? Rickin: I am starting to see where you and Chicky Starr formed your friendship. Invader 1 has reached the ring and here we go. Isaac Rosario vs. Invader 1 Invader 1 with punches and chops early on. Invader hits a clothesline and sends Rosario back to the ropes. Rosario gets caught in a sleeper and taps out quickly. Invader 1 by submission in 4:22 with a sleeper Rickin: The crowd is going crazy for the win by Invader 1. Here comes Chicky Starr and the brawl is on. Hugo: Invader's head goes into the post! He's busted open! Rickin: He blocks another attempt, now Chicky's head is rammed into the post. Invader grabs Chicky by the hair, makes a cutting gesture and rams his head into the post three more times. Hugo: Chicky is a mess! Invader gets caught with a low blow! Rickin: Chicky is retreating to the locker room. His face is covered in blood and Invader 1 isn't much better off. Hugo: Wise move by Chicky! He's losing a lot of blood and Invader 1 is getting fired up! Rickin: Wise move indeed. We'll be back with footage from the NWA 6-Man Tag Team title match and a recorded interview from Barrabas and his charges. (Commercial Break) 36:00-46:00 Hugo: NOW we get to find out if Boyd, the Crusher and BAM BAM won the NWA 6 man tag belts!! That's the ENTIRE NWA 6-man tag belts!!! Rickin: Yes that is exactly what we are talking about Hugo. This is a very big deal to even get this match. Fans also be sure to take note of the blond Canadian wrestler on the opposing team. You'll be seeing more of him very soon. Let's roll the footage. Cut up footage of the match is shown. Bam Bam knocks over all 3 Harts. Boyd and the Crusher are controlling the match until Owen Hart (the Canadian mentioned) makes them miss. Cut to Owen valiantly trying to take down Bam Bam but getting slammed and hit with a diving headbutt for a three count. Hugo: CHAMPS!! And the man who made it happen is Bam Bam!! Rickin: On behalf of the World Wrestling Council I would like to congratulate Barrabas, Jonathan Boyd, the Crusher and Bam Bam on their achievement. It is a great honor to have the NWA 6-Man Championship in the WWC. We may see less of Barrabas and his charges in the near future as they are off defending their belts across the NWA. Hugo: Nooooo! But it's HUGE for them! NWA belts are such a rare thing to ever have. I hope Boyd, the Crusher and Bam Bam know what kind of opportunity they have been given!! It was one of my dreams as a wrestler, something every wrestler dreams about! Rickin: We have a taped interview with Barrabas and his charges from somewhere in the United States. Cut to a locker room, again different colors but a locker room. Barrabas, Boyd, the Crusher and Bam Bam are celebrating with champagne. Barrabas: The fans of the WWC have always treated me like nothing! They have thrown things and booed! Guess what, I have done something that your beloved Carlitos Colon has NEVER done! I have brought a NWA title home to Puerto Rico! And here's the thing that's gonna make you hate me even more. Barrabas pauses and grins. Barrabas: I will NOT have these men defend the NWA 6-Man titles in Puerto Rico. I don't care if the WWC doesn't like it. I will not give the people anything! And when my men are wrestling, the fans will NOT throw garbage and sully these beautiful belts! Barrabas calls in his charges. Barrabas: I've been called cheap in the past, but these men deserve something big for this! Let's take some time to appreciate the men who won these belts! Jonathan Boyd, energetic, hard-hitting, won't back down from anyone! The Crusher, six foot three 280 pounds of mean! The BIG man, Bam Bam!! He may be 370 pounds, but he's as agile as any 230 pounder! The man who put us over the top! Barrabas, Boyd and the Crusher pour champagne all over Bam Bam, who seems unaware of how to take it. Cut back to the arena. Rickin: Well, there you have it. Barrabas has vowed that his charges will never defend their NWA 6-Man titles in the WWC. Hugo: Why should they?!? And the fans better respect those belts and not throw their garbage!! Rickin: Somehow I doubt that will be the case. We have two more matches for the card on Three Kings Day. We will be seeing the debut of a young wrestler named TNT and managed by el Profe. Hugo: El Profe? He's a professor of wrestling? Rickin: Apparently, yes. We will also be seeing Super Medico 1 against Gama Singh. Hugo: I'm sure he doesn't know as much about wrestling as me! Rickin: Did you even hear the rest of what i said? Hugo: Or do you think he might? Rickin: We're out of time lucha libre fans. We'll see you next week with more news about the Three Kings Day show. Tickets are going fast, don't wait. A graphic is shown over the closing credits of the announced matches for January 6th. Three Kings Day, January 6th, 1986 Roberto Clemente Coliseum Main Event: Bruiser Brody vs. Carlitos Colon © for the NWA Universal Championship Al Madril, Rambo Ron Starr & Chicky Starr vs. Los Invaders Gama Singh vs. Super Medico 1 Debut match: TNT with El Profe
  4. I have this idea of Adrian Street being reviled in Texas in the 80s. Especially when he really ramped up his act. That is one thing I appreciate about Eddie Gilbert as a heel. He's great at getting heat on a babyface, great at showing ass to keep it and great at putting over a huge beating when it's time to pay the piper. A lot of heels are good at two, but lacking when the third comes around (different for everybody really). The truly great heels have all 3 down. Agreed on Bad News, the guy is getting some much-deserved spotlight.
  5. Nah, he didn't wrestle any different. But both Hugo and Ricky Santana put him over on commentary as some martial arts master. Santana talks about how he has to make sure to stay away from the karate chops and kicks. I was cracking up at that shit.
  6. Flair and Taylor really do steal the show here. Looking forward to seeing both deal with their failure and success.
  7. Ahh, I also have YBs 1990-1996, with 1997 thru 1999 on order.
  8. I thought this was a great match. Fuerza really puts on a great show and Casas is not far behind on the flash. The matwork is top-notch in the third fall especially.
  9. I was thinking the same thing about Houston & Wyndham. I'd say the Powers of Pain are much more suited to a run in different territories than any kind of prolonged exposure than they had in the WWF. Dick Slater is a great addition to the UWF.
  10. This isn't bad, but it's pretty heatless through most of it. Misawa is still selling some kind of shoulder injury. A lot of garreta's problem comes from that strict hierarchy in AJPW that makes a lot of these matches seem formulaic after a while. I will say the way NJPW is booked leads to a lot more finishes you don't see coming a mile away. Oh yeah, how is Kikuchi able to do this night in and night out?
  11. I know you don't want to do a ton of research, but look at invader 3. His scaffold match vs. Chicky Starr, there are I think a couple of matches out there with Eric Embry. He's definitely a world class junior and I can spare him for juniors tournaments and the like. I'll also be using Owen for a while, won't need him for January 4th for sure. I also want to say that Tenryu's gang looks incredible. Tenryu, a young Kawada, Fuchi, hara and Inoue all together is sooo awesome.
  12. Garvin & Embry really kill it with that promo. Kerry really must want to get his hands on Studd.
  13. Great MSG card. I'll second Windham/Rude and add in Fantastics/Sheepherders. The whole Hart situation went as well as it could have. And that guy showing up at the end, money well spent by Teddy.
  14. With all of the departures, one really stood out. Tojo leaving is actually seen as maybe even a bad thing because nobody will be around to control Killer Khan. Or somebody worse. Very good stuff there. Slaughter is going to have to rebuild.
  15. I don't have any streaming services. Youtube is chock full of wrestling and that's enough for me.
  16. Wedding was really well done. I did not expect it to be done with as much reverence as it was. I thought Piper and Monsoon walking all over Bobby during this was right. His way of doing things didn't fit this segment. Probably for the best that the shots of the cobra in some other universe were mixed with the actual snake that was in the box. I doubt you'd want an actual cobra being used as a hand puppet that close to your face.
  17. I'm with garreta on the announcing for this show. Bobby has his moments, but the other two are beyond useless. Except for maybe Piper during the Virgil match. They sure cleared Warrior out of there in a hurry never to return. Jacques was again good, but I have to wonder. Is suggested rape really good for an attempt at humor? Even if it is a heel, that's going a little far.
  18. I was also annoyed by the way this was worked. It is a no DQ match. What is to stop all 4 guys from just brawling the whole damn time? Especially if they are all big, angry musclehead brawler types like these guys are. It's not a bad normal tag match, but they completely ignored the stip. Nothing bothers me more. Then we get more Jacques, so I'm happy again.
  19. I thought Jacques was the best part of this. He really goes full bore on this and it's great. That's 2 French Canadians (Rougeau and Martel) who have made entertaining characters out of essentially Vince's throwaway gimmicks for guys he didn't want to be over because he didn't make them. Can we not just give guys a chance to shine and see what they do with it?
  20. Yeah, using retired guys as managers is a pretty common practice. If they are good talkers it is pretty common for that to happen.
  21. Welcome back Gordi! If you need anything from the WWC let me know.
  22. Good to see los Infernales already working in Lutte. They are great, but not really a part of what I had in mind for WWC. Didn't want to just drop them entirely off the map and not mention it, so I did that whole run with them to get them out without doing that WCW/WWE thing where you just try to move on and hope the audience forgets they were there. Love seeing Jacques get a long match.
  23. I thought Jacques did a really good job making himself into any kind of a threat given the way he has been handled so far. He really killed it in the pre-match interview, all but calling the New York cops bumbling idiots more than once. He also did a great job of fighting his post-match fate as much as you would expect him to. Bossman had to be a stiff bastard who got rid of the crooked Mountie and pulled that off fine. I'll agree there wasn't a ton of chemistry, but the fans seemed like they were behind Bossman and that's enough to make it work.
  24. Virgil splatting on the floor was completely unexpected and all the respect in the world to the guy for doing it. I liked the drama of Piper thinking about getting involved and even the fans demanding it while DiBiase was abusing Virgil. Virgil using DiBiase's hubris against him is the perfect way to win the match. I would have liked to see Virgil go to the booth and celebrate with Piper a little. Really good match for having a career non-wrestler in it. Very emotional, which is a component of wrestling that I think gets ignored in favor of the more physical aspect of things.
  25. Heenan kills this segment. He's just so incensed that it blew up in his face that it's great. I did enjoy that the star of the show Hulk Hogan had a piece of paper with "Hulk" written on his door.
