  1. An absolutely excellent match, just as expected. Obviously there was a lot of hype for this one w/ Big Dave giving it the full 5, the live reports saying it truly is one of the all-time great matches in PWG & the preview clip of it looking great - and it lived up to that hype. WALTER & Zack beat the shit out of one another in this classic; you got WALTER as the amazing dominant bigger man throwing ZSJ around & chopping him with those sick chops of his - and then you got Zack as the tremendous underdog chopping him down with those great strikes of his + trying to outsmart the bigger man w/ his great mat, submission oriented tactics. Fantastic match. ****1/2
  2. This was exactly the match I wanted these two guys to have - just an excellent BIG BOY spotfest between two BIG BOYS in Jonah Rock & Keith Lee. All of their big, signature moves had that sweet extra impact to them because of the size of the big lads. Just bomb after bomb after bomb. Great stuff. ****
  3. I didn't like the first two matches in Webster/Cage + Brooks/Haskins at all, so out comes the best wrestler in the world to stop the streak of awful matches! This is, so far, my favorite PWG Trevor Lee performance & match. Loved his attack on Janela during the introductions & that set the formula for rest of the match - Trevor beat the crap out of Joey in fantastic fashion while Janela had some awesome, explosive comebacks. Loved Trevor's trashtalk throughout w/ him mocking Joey's "WHAT AM I?" yell, his cocky confidence was also awesome & the moment when Janela starts to fire up & Trevor just grabs his goddamn nose was so great. Excellent match. ****1/4
  4. I love their 2015 match, but this one COMPLETELY smoked it. SMOKED it. An instant classic that is on the shortlist of the best best TV matches of all-time; Reigns was great, selling super well & of course looking great with all of his offense. Cesaro on the other hand proved why he still definitely is one of the best wrestlers in the world - he hasn't had any standout performances this year, but this certainly was one. Actually I'd say it's my favorite Cesaro performance of ALL-TIME - he has had a few better MATCHES (vs. Zayn, Regal, Danielson), but this is his best PERFORMANCE ever, as far as I am concerned. His attack on Reigns' arm blew me away - super aggressive & focused; simply just ON POINT. Goddamn amazing stuff all around. Classic match. ****1/2
  5. This was amazing. Ohno has been delivering everytime he has got a chance to do so in this 2nd NXT run of his, and this was the best match of that run yet. It was 100% 2016 best wrestler in the world like performance from him. He beat the crap out of Gargano, just straight up bullied him with his beautiful elbows, boots, sentons, you name it. He also had a terrific dance partner with him - Johnny G gave a wonderful babyface performance, selling his ass off & busting out great, super well timed, big hope spots. Great, great stuff. ****1/2
  6. Quite recent, but I thought the summer of 2013 had some really compelling TV.
  7. Hell yeah man! Remember REALLY loving this at the time when it aired. Gotta re-watch it soon.
  8. I actually liked this better than anything on the Takeover card. I still find it so awesome that before he got a job in the WWE, Gargano was one of my least favorite guys around in the indies & now he really is one of the best babyfaces WWE got. And that was on display here as expected - he was excellent with his hope spots, emotion & selling. Dunne was great as well with his work over him - loved the arm targeting. Great match. ****
  9. This was on par w/ the main event WarGames match, which was my MOTN. Enjoyed the crap out of it - a superb 5 minute sprint with Ohno showcasing that excellent, hard hitting offense of his & Lars working that monster shtick very well by not going down, showing that he can take a goddamn beating. Super happy to see Ohno get a Takeover spot & he absolutely delivered. Awesome match. ***3/4
  10. A very good character driven match. I really loved the beginning stuff w/ Black establishing dominance by showcasing his technical wrestling skills, I'd actually say that overall that was my favorite stuff in the match. After that stage was done, it was more 50/50 with them trading big bombs. This was my first time seeing The Velveteen Dream in action & he sure impressed - I thought he did a damn good job working his character into the match; great facial expressions & selling. The post-match w/ Aleister finally SAYING HIS NAME was really awesome too. ***1/2
  11. Best match on the show. Some awkward moments but that was to be expected. Once Wolfe & Dain got involved, things kicked up a notch & the action remained really good from that point on till the end. Everybody gave really good performances. ***3/4
  12. vs. Naito from G1 24 & vs. Tanahashi from New Beginning.
  13. I got BRAUN as my WWE WOTY at this point. It's very, very close between him, AJ & Reigns though.
  14. While AJ was absolutely amazing w/ his performance last night, I thought Brock completely matched him as well. His selling was perfect.
  15. There is NO ONE in the history that takes bumps in such enjoyable, beautiful fashion like AJ Styles. NO ONE. And then there's NO ONE in the history that gives a menacing beating like Brock Lesnar does. NO ONE. And as you can probably guess from those lines, I very much enjoyed Brock just ragdolling AJ around in the early stages of the match. He threw him around, he beat the shit out of him with those brutal knees. I loved it. AJ's bumping was legendary as was his selling. LOVED Brock's trashtalk, asking AJ to bring the fight to him. Well AJ sure did eventually bring that fight to The Beast - he made the most out of his first real opening & started targeting Lesnar's knee. He does EXCELLENT work over the knee throughout the match & Brock demonstrated why he is one of the greatest sellers of all-time; he sold his ass off for AJ. The Calf Crusher spot has to be one of my favorite ones ever - they got the crowd believing that Brock would TAP OUT to a goddamn Calf Crusher. In 2017. Hell, they even made me believe even though I knew the result of the match! PERFECT drama that went perfectly with the story they had been telling. Brock just going crazy with bouncing AJ's head repeatedly to the mat was so amazing. The finishing stretch with AJ getting one last nearfall w/ the Phenomenal Forearm before getting put away by the F5, in which Lesnar still sold the work AJ had done to his knee perfectly, was the perfect ending to the match. Masterful work by both men. Take a freaking bow. AJ Styles & Brock Lesnar. Two of the greatest of all-time. ***** 2nd best match in both guys' careers. #1 for Brock is the Punk match & for AJ it's the Suzuki match.
  16. Watching the main event now, Mauro has been pretty annoying with his pop culture references all night long, but this one has to have been the worst one: *Killian Dain does the Fallaway Slam + Samoan Drop combo on the Undisputed Era* Mauro: "Another meme worthy NXT moment courtesy of Killian Dain!" Jesus Christ.
  17. This was a very good, borderline great tag match. Everybody gave impressive performances; SHO & YOH ruled with their work over the ribs of ACH & their quick combinations were really fun to watch, Taguchi was a really great hot tag, but GODDAMN the star of this bout was definitely ACH - he put on such a great performance, his selling of the injured ribs of his was superb & he brought the fire, he brought the charisma, he brought the right amount of emotion. Terrific stuff by him. Overall I think this would've been better had it been shaved off a bit, because in the end it did drag a bit, but yeah, a really damn good match. ***3/4
  18. Super glad I randomly ran into this match. It was a super fun one - Dragon played the classic, cheap tactic using, foreign heel in front of over 800 loud English fans. Loved his pre-match promo w/ him getting heat by of course praising 'Murica & talking crap about the fans in England. His version of the American National Anthem was beautiful as well. WWE should get him to do it at Mania next year. The actual match was your classic foreign heel going against the local hero bout w/ Dynamite getting a really good shine in & having Dragon in trouble for most of the match, until he managed to sneak that victory by using cheap tactics. Awesome stuff. Dynamite impressed, he came off as a very technically sound wrestler. Very enjoyable stuff overall & like I said, I am super glad I ran into a link to this. Had a blast watching it. Very fun to see Bryan play a character like this. ***3/4 Other wrestlers who were featured on this show: Jean-Pierre LaFitte, Gangrel, Marty Scurll, Nick Aldis aka Magnus, Doug Williams, Robbie Brookside & The Bambikiller. Quite the cast there.
  19. This was really fun from start to finish, with really good showings by Nick Richards, Ray Kandrack & Chet Sterling. What really put it over the top as a great match though was the finishing stretch between the final 2 in the match, Trevor Lee & Cain Justice. Legitimately can't think of a better final 2 Rumble finishing stretch off the top of my head right now - they absolutely KILLED it. Cain was excellent beating down the exhausted champ w/ his strikes & amazingly nasty submissions - which Trevor sold fantastically. That created some fantastic drama. LOVED him working over that cut on Trevor's head as well. Trevor of course once again proved why every single goddamn time I watch a CWF Mid-Atlantic Championship Match of his, I come thinking "that guy really is the best wrestler in the world" - fantastic performance by the man, excellent selling as mentioned earlier & the way he just tells stories with his body language & facial expressions is unbelievable. The moment when Cain refuses to shake his hand which then leads to Trevor beating the absolute SHIT out of him was amazing. Great, great stuff. Can't wait for the eventual 1 vs. 1 meeting between them. ****1/4
  20. Really great David vs. Goliath bout. WALTER on the offense is amazing - he displayed those beautiful German Suplexes, Butterfly Suplexes, that deadly chokehold of his & of course those vicious, sick chops. David Starr has been pretty hit or miss ever since I started getting more familiar with his work - here he was an absolute hit. Loved the energy he brought & him working over the hand of WALTER to try & take away those chops was brilliant. WALTER sold that really well too. Great psychology & performances by both. ****
  21. Lots of great ones mentioned in the thread already. One that came instantly to my mind that hasn't been mentioned yet is Daniel Bryan. Couldn't find any GIFs with a quick search from google, but I thought his punches always looked really damn good, especially when they were a big part of his comeback sequence during his big babyface run in WWE.
  22. A great match up between a ruthless, brutal veteran that is Minoru Suzuki and a younger fella by the name of GO Asakawa who has only been in the business for a little over 2 years. I have never seen him wrestle before but I really liked his performance here - he brought a very nice amount of fire. He looked really, really good everytime he got to be on the offense. Minoru sold just enough for him & obviously Minoru himself looked like a killer just stretching & slapping Asakawa around. ****
  23. Mundo vs. Puma felt like the perfect culmination to their rivalry, but this match right here felt like the perfect culmination to Lucha Underground as a whole up to now. Prince Puma, the first champion of the company, the face of the company, THE man of the company from the 1st episode on going against the fan favorite, the absolute killer that is Pentagon DARK. Just after the match vs. Mundo where he gave his all to save his career & win that title he built. Right when the bell rang this reminded me why LU is the coolest goddamn thing in wrestling when done right - the fans were screaming the signature warcry of Pentagon; "CERO MIEDO! " as the tired & wounded, supposed to be the face of the company Prince Puma fought against him. The commentary by Matt Striker & Vampiro was excellent throughout the whole thing too - Striker brought the emotion while Vampiro brought the storytelling element of his character. Excellent stuff by them. Puma got some really great hope spots & comebacks in (that Benadryller nearfall was so great), but ultimately Pentagon won & so the story of him, Vampiro, Prince Puma & LU as a whole came to an epic climax. Magical stuff. Truly felt like something that had been building since the 1st episode. ****1/2
  24. Perfect culmination to the Prince Puma vs. Johnny Mundo rivalry. Terrific combination of great athleticism, storytelling, drama & big match feel. ****1/4
  25. It's Ringkampf vs. The Rottweilers. Homicide & Low Ki vs. Thatcher & WALTER. 2017 is wild. This was such a great match - loved how it was structured. At first we get Ringkampf pretty much dominating The Rottweilers in the ring, but once Homicide & Ki take things to outside the ring, a full blown tag brawl comes about & The Rottweilers get back into things. Lovely stuff. Loved seeing Homicide hit some of his classic signature moves, made me pop big time, Low Ki was as explosive as ever - he's so great & of course Team Ringkampf, Thatcher & WALTER, once again proved why they are 2 of the best wrestlers in the world & one of the best tag teams on the planet. Great match. ****
