  1. This was definitely a pleasant surprise. They both did a great job putting over their worked over body parts. Russev having adjust the Accolade was a really smart touch from him. I really hope they do a rematch and switch the title. Between how popular he's gotten, and him showing that he can carry his weight in smart matches like this, Russev certainly deserves a chance.
  2. Bate did that before. I guess we're supposed to infer that Drake told him that he'd disqualify them if he did it again.
  3. I don't know if I'd call it NXT MOTY, I'll have to watch Almas/Gargano again, but I'd easily put this over both of the Gargano/Ciampa matches. Just from Strong and O'Reilly's entrance, you can tell that they mean business tonight, and they show that they'll have no qualms about crippling Seven if necesarry. Bate was the perfect hot tag, and dishes out some wicked shots to Kyle and Roddy. I wish they hadn't switched the titles here though. They could have gotten away with a DQ with Seven getting a rope break and one of the heels not letting go of the hold (they just did something similar on RAW with the Revival), or even had Bate get a fluke win with his rebound lariat. If the heat here was any indication, they can keep this feud hot for another month and then blow it off at Takeover (which I'm guessing is the plan anyway). There's one thing I have a problem with though. "The Strong Clutch" WTF? It looks like shit, especially compared to the real thing from Kondo and even Cabana's Billy Goat's Curse, and his old ROH "Stronghold" finisher has both a better name and also looks a lot better. Also, when the Undisputed Era were celebratng, Bobby Fish walked out, so he does't need the crutches anymore. Looks like we'll be seeing him back soon. Which begs a question. The recent tags and trios matches have gotten some high praise. If Fish was invovled instead of Strong, would they have been as good?
  4. I'm with you as far as Delirious goes. But, what's the matter with Koff?
  5. I liked this a lot more than the title switch in England. The heel control segment on Bate was much better, with the 'Era keeping him in their corner and working over his ribs with both strikes and holds, I haven't seen a shoulder breaker in forever! Ricochet was a great hot tag, showing off his flashy crowd-pleasing offense, his way of avoiding the high/low combo was awesome. O'Reilly's heel mannerisms have been excellent all year, and this was no exception, mocking Moustache Mountain's pose while he worked over Bate, and his reaction when Ricochet stared him down after he saved Cole from getting pinned. Strong and O'Reilly managed to stay on the same page and not hit each other! The finish is smart for a couple of reasons: Ricochet getting pinned protects the champions going into their title rematch with Strong and O'Reilly, and the manner in which Ricochet winds up losing is due to him losing his cool and diving onto O'Reilly after he broke up the pin, and setting himself up for Strong's ambush, than it is the 'Era being better wrestlers.
  6. I liked a lot of things about this, but, it just didn't come together as well as I'd hoped. The control segment on Seven from Kyle and Roddy wasn't that interesting, aside from the bit where Kyle yanked Bate off the apron to stop the tag. I could also have done without the all the miscues from Kyle and Roddy, they did the exact same knee/elbow one in the trios match from the night before. But, it scores major points for Kyle and Roddy's stooging and bumping, especially the way Roddy sold that rolling kopo kick from Bate, and some of the spots were crazy in a good way, like Bate's deadlift German while Kyle was on his back, and that rebound lariat to O'Reilly into the suplex from Seven. But, I'd have liked to see them tell more of a story, other than "Kyle and Roddy can't seem to string together more than two successful tandem spots." It's a fun match to watch, and a great feel good moment for the UK fans, but I don't think it's a great match.
  7. The only thing that really soured me on this was when Okada took the reverse rana on the floor, stumbled and sold perfectly, rolled into the ring and ate the V-Trigger and then promptly countered the One Winged Angel into the Tombstone. I could buy him playing possum after the rana, but it just shit on the running V-Trigger. It wasn't like anything else they did leading up the actual end of the fall was really impactful, aside from maybe Omega countering the dropkick with the powerbomb, and escaping the same cradle that pinned him in the first fall. Other than that one thing, I think mostly lives up to the praise it's getting. As annoying as those pop-up sequences with the suplexes were in AJ/NOAH, they get it right here. When Omega is selling his midsection and sees Okada signal for the Rainmaker, so he jumps up and his the snap Dragon while Okada isn't paying attention. I don't think it redefines wrestling nor is it the best match I've ever seen, but I wouldn't be surprised a bit to hear that it won MOTY, and it deserves to.
  8. I'll admit to not being a religious watcher of ROH or NJPW, but I haven't seen a match for either the ROH or NEVER Openweight Six Man Titles that's as good as this. The Dunne/Strong exchanges were as intense as you'd expect, and I liked the nice touch of Dunne making his own save, by dodging Roddy with the flip off the top and then running to the corner and tagging in Lorcin. I could have done without the stereo submission spot, just because it's so overplayed, but it wasn't anything offensive, and the domino effect of the holds getting broken was cute. The miscue between Roddy and Kyle that led to the finish was cool, and it actually somewhat puts Kyle over, even in defeat, that it took eating the knee from Roddy, Lorcin's blockbuster and the double DDT to keep him down.
  9. Best of luck, Loss!
  10. As of now, they're only missing one from 1983 and only three or four from 1982. I think the purposely leave a few blanks, just to troll us nerds. Sort of like how they took their sweet time uploading the 1/1/96 RAW.
  11. Thanks! I literally came into this thread to see if anyone posted anything about the Russo episode. I'm so happy that they're keeping the Mid South TV coming.
  12. I have WWE Network and Highspots. If it comes to Roku, I will check out the Global Wrestling Network, because there is a lot of early TNA that I would like to see. I tried out Honor Club for a month, strictly to see Rhodes/Omega. And, there wasn't anything else on it that inspired me to continue after a month.
  13. I thought this was fun, but not much more than that, and certainly not a MOTY calibre match. It's pretty much a squash for Sabre, and that's fine considering their respective positions in the company. it's nice that Sabre sells his neck so well when Darby hits the DDT and Crucifix bomb, but, at no point did I think for a second that Darby had a prayer of pulling this off. If Phil's comment about Darby being more of a bumper is accurate (This is only the second match of his I've seen). then it's no surprise that he and Sabre don't mesh as well as Sabre and WALTER did in PWG.
  14. The only thing that I didn't like here was that Thatcher ignored selling his ribs/midsection when it was Ringkampf's turn to work a control segment. After the way that Riddle threw those knees and elbows at him, there's no way that he should have been able to take over Cobb with a butterfly suplex with ease. Other than that, this was great stuff. Both teams' control segments were a blast to watch, and the match doesn't break down after Riddle's tag, they keep working smart. If not for Thatcher's selling lapse, this would easily by my match of the year pick.
  15. This sort of match worked for Sabre's match with WALTER in October, but it doesn't come off as well here. Lee isn't anywhere near the wrestler that WALTER is, and it shows. Aside from the finish, Lee isn't able to outwrestle Sabre or use any surprising transitions. He just has to get the ropes or wait for Sabre to let him up from holds, and his offense is mostly him trying to stiff the crap out of Sabre (although I apprecaite Excalibur's comment that Lee isn't stepping into his strikes to protect the leg). Sabre is a blast to watch, especially when he does little things to bait Lee into putting strain on the leg, like his overselling the bodyslam so that Lee will go for the moonsault and be unable to protect himself. Lee's selling is usually spot on, aside from the spot where he countered the hanging triangle into the powerbomb. ***
  16. I'll have to sit down with this again to see where I'd rate it. But, I had a blast watching it when it happened. I wish they hadn't burned through so many good finishes, like the Project Ciampa off the top. But, Johnny was literally fighting for his career, so it makes sense for him to put in a superhuman effort. I initially was disappionted to see Gargano win. I figured Ciampa would win, and Johnny could got to 205 or SD, while super heel Ciampa moves into a feud with Black for the title. I also got a huge kick out of the spot where Ciampa took the bump on the concrete and fans started the 'You Deserve It!" chant. I thought the finish was brilliant with Johnny not wanting to sink down to Ciampa's level, but not being so stupid as to think that Ciampa suddenly wouldn't do it in heartbeat, and it pays off.
  17. I've never thought you were a troll or anything. I haven't been posting much in general, so it's nothing personal.
  18. "So…is Finn trying to say something with his rainbow Balor Club gear and LGBT fanclub as a part of the entrance? I’ve heard others make claims, but I don’t think he’s ever said anything on the record." Wow, so apparently anyone who does something for the LGBT community must be gay.
  19. Looks like Thunder cuts off right around the time I gave up watching WCW. One of the last things I recall seeing was a promo from Benoit on Sid and Steiner saying something like "You want to throw your weight around? Well me and Perry Saturn want to throw your weight around too!"
  20. The Chono incident was the reason why Austin apparently didn't want Owen to do the sitdown tombstone, and wanted him to drop to his knees like UT's version. RE: Eddie/Sami, I don't have anything to add that wasn't already said by other people in the threat. It was a stupid spot to begin with, and Sami looked sloppy as fuck. The chair they used was also rather questionable, which makes me wonder if Don Callis and co. knew what they planned on doing. The thing that drive me crazy though is the defense of "Accidents happen." No shit, nobody thinks Sami clocked him on purpose. But, people are still at fault when an accident happens. And, yes, with the half-assed way the chair was set up, and the swing he took. Sami is at fault.
  21. Seems like they just dumped the On Demand versions to the Network, because there was an edict that came down that Mel Phillips would not be shown. Funny thing about it is that whole segment appeared uncut on another video before that change was made and it is still intact. The Mel Phillips angle is included on the Network's Upload of the "Most Embarrassing Moments" video. But it's joined in progress, so it doesn't where Phillips put on Terry's hat and caused Terry to smack him around.
  22. Of the one listed as being shown in the "most complete form possible" has anyone noticed any glaring omissions from the original CHV release? The only one I've come across so far is on the "Grand Slams" tape, they don't include the clip of Terry Funk smacking around Mel Philips. Honestly, I only even noticed it because of Gene's voiceover for the following segment, a clip of the Funks vs. JYD/Tito WrestleMania 2 match, where he continued talking about Funk.
  23. Roman has been treated predominantly as a babyface by crowds the last two weeks, especially in the Miz match. Agreed. But, last night was a much different story. I'm not sure what you mean? Last night the Roman cheers and the "Let's Go Roman" chants were way louder than the boos and the "Roman Sucks" chants. It sounded to me like Elias got a much bigger reaction, especially during the promo when he was calling Roman out. But, I only caught snippets of the actual match, since I was working. So, I'll take your word for it, if you say the crowd was much more for him.
  24. Roman has been treated predominantly as a babyface by crowds the last two weeks, especially in the Miz match. Agreed. But, last night was a much different story.
  25. If the fans are determined not to accept Roman Reigns, WWE ought to take advantage and use it to potentially elevate Elias. A Roman/Elias title feud, with Shield vs. Elias/Dallas/Axel matches.
