Zoo Enthusiast
When Zayn won and the crowd was all on their feet it really reminded me of old school ECW crowds* where they would be really invested in seeing an angle pay off and showed respect to the guys involved. NXT crowds sometimes get shit for being to smart for their own good (not always undeserved), but last night was a real refreshing scene. *In which I mean "applaud for Eddie vs Malenko" and not the "vampires cheering for MOAR VIOLENCE* crowds. I would sort if agree with this, but there were a bunch of morons chanting "MARKING OUT!" that were so fucking lame. It was during the Balor stuff (which I already thought was silly/awful), so maybe that tainted it for me. Other than that stuff, I thought it was a good show. Grimmas
I was thinking that the free pre-match show before the Royal Rumble should be a 15 women Royal Rumble match with the winner getting the shot at Mania. You could easily have: Brie AJNatayla Cameron Naomi Paige Rosa Mendes Layla Alicia Fox Emma Eva Marie Summer Rae Tamina then have the two final slots as NXT folks or people like Trish or Lita doing a one shot. I'm surprised they've never done a Diva Royal Rumble before. It would be a fun gimmick match that people would be interested in. Battle Royales and Rumble matches always get people interested, as long as it has some buildup and isn't something thrown out on tv randomly. I wouldn't put it on the pre-show either, that seems like a waste. Wouldn't open with it, but have something mid-card on the pre-show , a hot opener, then put the Diva Rumble 2nd and give it it time and a big match feel. It's usually a 5 match card anyway, and they don't double book people in matches on the show much anymore. The Rumble gets an hour+, the Divas get a half hour, Brock-Cena gets 30-45 minutes.....that's the balance of the show and you don't have to have stupid last minute throwaway matches just to kill time. Meltzer said they were thinking of doing a 40 man Rumble this year, which I thought would be a way to give a bunch of NXT guys some exposure and maybe have someone like Adrian Neville or Zayn have a strong showing and they're instantly made, but apparently they wanted to (because the show is in Philly) bring in random ECW guys for one night. I can't say I wouldn't mark out if Sandman or Sabu showed up in the Rumble in 2015, but I'm glad they're not doing it, that idea is TNA level stupid I don't know if I would do this, but if they want surprise/shock factor......HHH in the Rumble would do it. I think I'd put him in first, and have him really strong in the match, then Sting enters the match at like 20 or something, eliminates Hunter, and walks off. If the plan is Sting/HHH at Mania. That's a way to do it without giving anything away, and combined with the ending of Survivor Series makes for a strong build for the match without them being on RAW every week cutting promos back and forth
Jmare007
re: Sting/HHH Also, it wouldn't shock me if Rollins wins on Sunday so Cena is "forced" to bring the Authority back to get his title shot or something.
Bierschwale
I agree, even though it makes no sense at all. Jericho is going to be the guest GM for RAW on Monday. Why wouldn't he just give him #1 contendership back, or put him in a match for it? If the Anonymous GM can make a match where Cena can lose it, why can't any other GM give him a chance to get it back?

Cool idea, but I don't know about wasting a one shot or the money on Lita or Trish on a pre show match. I'd fear for Eva Marie taking an over the top rope bump to the floor. Loss
I remember reading recently that Vince has yet to see the Performance Center in person, if that tells you how much of a shit he gives about NXT.
sek69
Hasn't it been stated by several former WWE writers already that Vince doesn't even pay much attention to things outside the main event level in WWE? The idea that he keeps tabs on NXT seemed silly to me. It's also the likely reason KD can sway him against NXT guys so easy if Vince has never seen them down there he only has Dunn's word that they don't have it. goc
I think there is absolutely no way that Vince watches NXT. I'm sure he gets reports and I think he might watch a video package of someone that's been put together for him but there is no way he is watching entire shows or even entire matches. BillThompson
Hey Bill, if all that awesome NXT show can produce in you is negative feelings....it might be time for a new hobby, man. "Well, Pooh. You getting stuck in Rabbit's hole was just a message that you're too fat. And everyone knows that Roo will never get a push cause Kanga's still around. And as great as Tigger is, he'll never get the top spot...." Actually I was glaringly positive, but expressed how it sucks that this most likely won't translate to a positive future in the WWE. Different opinions are fine, including positive ones mixed with some realistic negativity.
fakeplastictrees
Re: Diva Battle Royals The crowd is normally dead and the match is over in under 5 minutes while the women get tossed through the bottom rope and through the middle ropes. These have never been over. Doing a Diva RR will get the same type of heat and the majority of the women are not over so during the rundowns there will be nothing but the sound of crickets for over 90% of the women. anarchistxx
Divas battle royal wouldn't be great, the crowd would either be completely silent or shit on it. They have some good female characters and wrestlers now, it is more worthwhile having a well built match with Nicki/AJ/Paige/Brie/Naomi. Usos/Naomi vs Miz/Sandow/Paige & AJ vs Nicki vs Brie in a three way dance for the strap?
Superstar Sleeze
They could still pull back on him and have him beat Rusev and be U.S. champ for a bit. Beating Rusev has almost as much value as beating Brock at this point. Not that I think they'll do it, or will even need to. I don't foresee the grand revolt some are predicting. I think that is the way to go or Reigns/Rock vs HHH/Batista or HHH/Rollins for Reigns at Wrestlemania.
BillThompson
Apparently Lana put up a picture of the European belt on her Twitter yesterday, and then quickly removed it. If this in anyway means that Rusev is going to retire the US belt and bring back the European title I'm all in favor of that as a thing his character would do. Superstar Sleeze
Except Russia's relationship with Europe has been strange throughout it's his history whether European facing with Peter The Great or separate under the USSR and to this day not in the EU. Russia is nominally in Europe, but seems too separate. I rather go with the Russian Heavyweight Champion.
BillThompson
I think Europe is as close as we'll get, unless WWE really surprises and thinks outside of themselves for once.

goc
Does anyone know if Swagger's contract is up soon? His lack of a tan and the way he was essentially squashed make me think he's on his way out. (although the shitty crowd all having their heads turned to watch some drunks fight during his comeback & breaking out of The Accolade really hurt the match) And I'm not one of those "the sky is falling!" guys when it comes to WWE but has their ever been a period of worse main event finishes over a 16 month period? Obviously there are more PPV main events now than the period during the 80s that got Dusty labeled as the "Dusty finish" guy but from the Daniel Bryan stuff last year all the way to the finishes of the last 2 PPV main events, it has been a long stretch of very unsatisfying, over contrived finishes. Mania was the only time it felt like they got everything right but that lasted all seemingly all of one night since they were already deflating Cesaro by Raw the next night. Bierschwale
If you go back to SummerSlam 2013, the "definitely satisfying/inoffensive/it didn't matter, anyway" main event finishes would be SS '13 and '14 (because that was definitely a win even if it was a mess), TLC '13, WM, Extreme Rules, Payback, MITB, and Battleground '14. Some of those were kind of shitty as matches like ER, or nobody really cared about the match (SS '13 and Battleground '14). So 8 for 17. That's pretty bad. Strummer
another notch in the belt on Rollins being pushed as a top guy. Dude is basically feuding with three guys now. Cena, Orton, and Reigns. Four if you count Lesnar (which hasn't been brought up since September or so) That is very un-WWE like as I can't remember the last time a heel had so many continuous programs.. also Dave says the Cena/Lesnar match will be pushed as their last match ever. Have a feeling that when Cena loses he's all distraught and stuff and brings back the Authority
