Sidebottom Posted May 4, 2014 Report Posted May 4, 2014 Yeah, wrestling fans can be so blinded / anal in their bias. I refuse to believe there isn't the slightest bit of something for everyone in everything. If JC were to write the top things he loves about wrestling, he'll find them in the late 80's WWF. He speaks highly of Heenan, for one. Quote
El-P Posted May 4, 2014 Report Posted May 4, 2014 Well, I enjoyed the last episode with Bolin for once. And Corny's rant on Cliven Bundy and such was highly entertaining to me. Quote
WrestlingPower Posted May 8, 2014 Report Posted May 8, 2014 This week's show is extremely missable. No Alice but we have Bolin as co-host and I think this show proves that will not work. Bolin's whole act here is to just be obnoxious, overbearing & argumentative. I realize that's his usual gimmick but they really have no content to work with this week. And it appears there's an issue with the audio levels as by the end you can barely hear them but the show closing music sounds fine. It could just be my computer's audio levels but I couldn't figure out how to turn it up any further. Quote
jpchicago23 Posted May 8, 2014 Report Posted May 8, 2014 If there's no Alice i think i'll start listening again Quote
El-P Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 Bollin as a co-host ? Ok, I'm passing this one. Bollin usually overstays his welcome after 5 minutes. Quote
jpchicago23 Posted May 10, 2014 Report Posted May 10, 2014 I'd rather listen to an hour of Bolin than 2 mins of Alice and I don't even like Bolin that much. Quote
rovert Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 I need to highlight how great this week's show with Paul Orndroff is. He beat throat cancer so he seems to have a given him a welcome sunnier disposition. The cancer has left him very hoarse sounding but has removed that dumb jock sound to his voice too. So it is like a different person talking. Quote
El-P Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 So it is like a different person talking. You dont say. If I didn't know beforehand, I would have never recognized him. In a good way (expect the coughing). This week's show has Kevin Sullivan, so it should be good again. Quote
rovert Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 Felt bad even posting that to be honest but it is true. Kevin Sullivan was excellent on Cornette's show. Must listen. Sounding like an easy review so I will bury Jim Ross's recent uber lazy recent efforts as counter balance. Quote
El-P Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 Can't wait to listen to Sulli, who's one of my favourite guy to listen to. The Tommy Young episode was excellent too, so that's 3 in a row for Corny. Quote
Bix Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 Cannot wait to hear Sulli and Corny. Sullivan was brilliant when I talked to him for FSM. Quote
PeteF3 Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Well, now Cornette interviewing the guy who called the first months of ECW television has to happen, for the train wreck aspect if nothing else. Quote
Matt D Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 i really wish they bring Sullivan in to WWE as the Chairman of the Board of the Wyatt Family Quote
shoe Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 i really wish they bring Sullivan in to WWE as the Chairman of the Board of the Wyatt Family You should pay Johnny Sorrow a dollar for stealing his premise. Quote

El-P Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Well, now Cornette interviewing the guy who called the first months of ECW television has to happen, for the train wreck aspect if nothing else. I was halfway expecting that one. Quote

shoe Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 Has anyone else hear what Sullivan claims about Keirn being the option besides Backlund for champ? Quote
WrestlingPower Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 The Sullivan show may be the best yet, this one actually has me wanting to sign up for the VIP to hear more. Quote
BruiserBrody Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 Has anyone else hear what Sullivan claims about Keirn being the option besides Backlund for champ? Not the first time Sullivan has made this claim. Quote
SomethingSavage Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 I'm curious. What singles matches would you guys recommend as Keirn's standout performances? Which ones would you recommend as being representative of his best singles stuff? Which ones, in your eyes, would indicate that he'd be a prime candidate for the Backlund spot? Not saying he wasn't considered. Not saying he wouldn't have worked. Not even trying to be confrontational or disagree, quite frankly. Just interested to see what people suggest. Quote
Loss Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 A lot of Keirn's best singles matches probably don't exist in full on tape, but the early 80s matches with Fujinami are really excellent. The Fabulous Ones were also a great tag team with plenty of terrific matches. Keirn was very good. Quote
SomethingSavage Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 Yeah. I've seen plenty from the Fabs. And I agree wholeheartedly. I'm not trying to dispute the guy's work or ability at all. Don't get the wrong impression. I was just seeing if anyone could point out a breakthrough singles performance or pivotal moment where it looked like he could certainly have been THE guy. It's one of those things where I was hoping to hear about a hidden gem I haven't discovered yet or something along those lines. That's all. Quote
