The question had something to do with a luchador named after an eagle or something like that. I couldn’t believe it. I know he faced Taka Michinoku at WrestleMania XIV and the run as Essa Rios, but is he famous in Mexico? I don’t really ever see him crop up on the major Lucha shows in the 2000s. Isn’t he a pretty obscure LuchaDor?

I mean, outside of Santo or maybe Blue Demon, I'd be shocked to see any luchador's name on something like Jeopardy, let alone Mr. Aguila. Boss Rock
NOAH drew over 5000 fans in Ryogoku today, which seems like a pretty big turnaround for a promotion that was struggling to stay afloat the last few years.
sek69
Xavier Woods has long been the rare fun wrestling Twitter follow, but he's been ramping it up since he has so much time on his hands since tearing his Achilles. He was talking about getting ready for another convention despite his injury and I literally lol'ed at him ending up going as Professor X complete with his hover-wheelchair gimmick. aaeo_
Catching up on the last 3 months of DDT before watching UP and the first thing I'm seeing is a Gabai Ji-chan match. What a great company.
Matt D
Two interesting tidbits from Barry Horowitz from the Payoff podcast: 1.) The best guy to give a press slam was Lex Luger. 2.) Three babyfaces that would always let the heel call 100% of the match without a peep were Brad Armstrong, Tommy Rich, and Tom Zenk.
WingedEagle
in addition to NJPW's big show of the month in Osaka, this past weekend saw BJW, NOAH and DDT run Sumo Hall, while Dragon Gate ran their big monthly show. Is this completely random or is there something about the dates that saw every promotion circle this weekend on its calendar?
joeg
It was a 3 day weekend in Japan. Today is Culture Day, so most schools and businesses are closed. Not only the 5 big shows in Japan this weekend, CMLL ran a pretty big show on Friday, the Crash ran their Aniversario this weekend, MLW had their PPV on Saturday. That's 8 major must watch shows in 3 days.
King of Debt
Everyone caught word of Survival Tobita having a singles match with Homeless Jimmy in a single Tokyo room that weekend and knew they were going to have to pull out the big draws to keep the balance of Earth in line, that's my guess. They went thirty minutes and everything!

Thus far I've seen Power Struggle. Its going to take a while to catch up. Fortunately NJPW is basically off until WK for my purposes save for any standout matches from tag league or Road to WK shows that get rave reviews. sek69
Congrats to Ryan Satin, all those years of caping for the WWE on Twitter under the guise of reporting finally got him that job he's been so transparently angling for. He'll be part of WWE's Backstage show on FS1.
Coffey
David Starr Vs. Jordan Devlin from OTT 5th Anny show was fine but it wasn't a MOTYC for me. Still a good match & good story but not exactly what I'm looking for. I do like David Starr though.
King of Debt
Has anybody here been keeping up with the Teddy Hart / Chasyn Rance stuff that's been brewing? There was a post on Last Word on Pro Wrestling FB Group asking for info on the disappearance of Teddy's ex-girlfriend in 2016. It's definitely best to read the post in full because it's very heavy stuff but TL;DR she was training in the Team Vision Dojo that Chasyn operates and though it doesn't make a direct accusation it does raise allegations that Chasyn produced "unlicensed sadistic chloroform pornographic videos for private overseas customers" and that Teddy took part in the making of these, and given both mens histories you could argue the implication isn't that much of a stretch. Pretty grim. Teddy issued a statement stating that he'd moved to Texas and she'd moved to Florida by the time they broke up and that he'd cut off all ties with Chasyn. The former got debunked on Twitter soon after, the latter fell apart when it turned out Teddy had literally shown up at Chasyn's gym the day before the statement. It's not looking good, I have to say

Basically stopped producing DVD, are selling the stock. Oliver wrote a book. Now doing a podcast, which has not interested me very much. If he ever go back into producing content for KC is anyone's guess.
Ricky Jackson
I should've been more specific. I meant the KM website/message board. It vanished a while back. Not a particularly lively place, but there was a bunch of valuable historical info dispersed throughout

Wonder if Kenny still wants to stand by his pal.
Coffey
I caught some of that today. Jordynne Grace had retweeted it or responded to it & someone on my Timeline had retweeted or replied to her response of it. I clicked on it & saw that woman's page & was immediately like "whoa" so just in case anyone is going to check it out, it's super NSFW. But yeah, pretty crazy accusations with the screenshots of the chats & whatnot. Not a good look for Chasyn whom before this thread, I had honestly never even heard of. BruiserBrody
LOLOLOL From bloodyelbow .com: "As an added incentive, Ortiz and Del Rio have both announced they’ll be putting their respective belts on the line. If Ortiz wins, he walks out with Del Rio’s WWE title around his waist. And if Del Rio wins, he’ll take Tito Ortiz’s UFC belt home with him"
Blehschmidt
I have zero knowledge of Combate Americas. So is this fight a work? or is there PPV selling so poorly because Ortiz is 15 years past his prime and no one gives a shit about Del Rio that they had to add this belt gimmick in hopes that it would make someone buy the show? Dale Wolfe
It's a legit organisation in theory but there have been a couple of fights that seem a bit off- Sarabia v Melara was a bit strange recently, the tap didn't make much sense unless he was heavily gassed. Realistically this is a rubber fight for Tito given how long its been since Del Río fought (and he was never good in the first place), but hard to see where they go from there. Does Ortiz have a one fight contract or is it more than that?
