I've seen people shitting on the NWA relaunch elsewhere, and that is what it is - but my god. I'm loving these little video packages they've been putting together over the past several weeks. At the end of the day, I'm a fan. I'm going to go to bat for anything I'm digging, and I'm enjoying this stuff immensely at the moment.

 

 

I agree with you, these video packages have been great. I had the opportunity to see Tim Storm defend the NWA title last May while I was at the CAC, but I chose to go to Fremont St that night. Kind of wished that I would have stayed to see his match. Don't get me wrong, I had fun on Fremont, so I'm not kicking myself that much!

 

I'm glad to see CWFH working with the NWA again. I think the last great series that title had were the Pearce vs. Cabana bouts.

I've never seen Corgan as a money mark. I always considered a money mark to be somebody who had a lot of cash to pour into a (usually ill conceived and poorly run) wrestling organization and then got conned out of their money by people a lot wiser to the business than they are. (See: Carter, Dixie.)

 

Like him or not, Corgan is no dummy and he came into this process of getting involved with wrestling with his eyes wide open. And even if he didn't originally, he ran his own indie for a good while, and his experiences with Panda Energy should have awoken him to the rampant lies and unbelievable con-man level bullshit in this line of work.

 

On top of that, he has spent years dealing with people in the music/entertainment industry, which actually gives Pro Wrestling a run for it's money when it comes to the number of lying con-men per square foot.

I like how people pretend that Savage wasn't super frugal or motivated by, ya know, making money so he could afford to live a very comfortable life after wrestling someday. Life has priorities. Of course it's easy to say Savage would've been satisfied and would've stayed put, but come on. There's no way of knowing. Bischoff was ALWAYS going to come calling eventually - especially after Hogan was fully on board. And Randy likely would have ended up going there, regardless.

Watched Survivor Series 1992 last night and a bit of Prime Time Wrestling from 92 and this guy who played Santa following Bret's match I think must have also been the same guy who returned a year to celebrate with Luger and unveil Dink.

There were multiple issues, Vince could not afford in that period to have Savage wrestle regularly. But Savage was already wealthy and of he were creatively satisfied, he might have hung tough during the lean times. But the combination of both was too much.
