KawadaSmile
I don't think that hosting the company's biggest event of the year is "lame" in any shape of form, specially to a full time act like the New Day. If anything, it indicates that WWE trusts them well enough to be placed in that actually very important role and that should not be overlooked. Mrzfn
Well it depends on what they do with them, of course. If they are just doing random skits between matches, or cutting a promo at the top of the show, it probably doesn't do much for them. If they get to do something memorable or get involved in an angle, then it could be a good thing since they don't seem to have any kind of meaningful match lined up. Strummer
Yeah they were once maybe the most over act on the show and now they have no clear direction or program for mania, if they shoot a major angle with them great but if it's just product placement and promotional comedy I don't see how it's a big deal for them. I mean other than a nice payoff obviously
Ricky Jackson
Considering the tag division is going nowhere it's a way better spot than some random muti team match
fakeplastictrees
Its seems like such an easy thing not to fuck up: - New Day comes out on a Unicorn float with choir singing and tossing out Booty O's to the crowd as confetti drops - New Day promo -RNRE come out, NAO interrupt, some crazy new before seen tag team comedy match (that last no more than 6 minutes). New Day and RNRE win - NO PRODUCT PLACEMENT..except for... - The unveiling of the New Day Ice Cream Machine (during the obligatory segment of WWE announcing the arena attendance for the evening) but even with all I just wrote...I don't see this going down well. stro
They'll be all over the show, and it sure beats having another match with The Club or Sheamus/Cesaro. They're likely going to kick off the show in front of the crowd, do 15 backstage segments, and something near the end of the show in front of the crowd again. Probably have a big parade or something. Loss
Maybe I'm wrong (I probably am), but I do think there's reason to worry about fan reaction to a Hogan return.
Matt D
It's like Sid in ECW (as it pertains to fan mentality, not in that the situations are comparable otherwise). Fans will pop for a surprise.

gordi
So... is anyone EXCITED for WrestleMania this year? I mean, I have a tiny bit of curiosity about how they'll book Lesnar vs Goldberg and I hope Owens and Jericho will have a fun match and it will be neat to see Strowman tossing people out in the Battle Royal... but I am really having to talk myself into sitting trough the whole thing and I don't think I'm going to be able to do it. There is just so much on the card that I can not bring myself to care abort at all. But maybe it's just me. I'm definitely a fair weather WWE fan. I tend to get pulled in by specific narratives like the rise of Bret, the rise of Benoit and Eddie, the rise of Bryan... if there isn't something like that going on, I tend to lose interest and become a casual follower. For me, right now, WM33 is really looking blah. Is it just me? Anyone all hyped up and waiting on tenterhooks? Anyone wanna try and talk me into it? El-P
I'm really excited about going to the Arnaud Rebotini "30 years of techno" all-night DJ set this week-end. Plus I'm gonna see Monarch! & Birushanah tonight. So yeah, probably gonna be a terrific few days. Oh, you meant ? Nah, gonna watch bits & pieces on Monday. Mania has become a real chore. Too bad it can't be as idiotic as last year, at least that gave us a fun thread.
gordi
Mania has become a real chore. Yeah, I didn't want to go so far as to say this, but I agree that WresleMania feels like a chore or at least an obligation rather than a treat or an anticipated event these days. I'm sincerely curious how many people here feel the same and how many feel totally different. I'm assuming someone here must be all excited about it. I wish I was. It's nice to have things to look forward to.
El-P
WresleMania feels like a chore or at least an obligation rather than a treat or an anticipated event these days. Obligation is right. It's like "well, it's Mania, I kinda "need" to watch it". When in fact, I really don't. I'm perfectly happy going through TNA 2006 now D'Amore is still booking so it's quite the fine product. Until VR gets hired in the Fall or something. I wish I was. It's nice to have things to look forward to. I look forward Destination X 2006 myself. And the next basho. That Kisenosato win this month was fucking legendary. Perfect booking.

El-P
That injury angle was amazing. Yeah amazing. And not only that, but the Henka of Doom on Kotoshigiku ! HEEL HEAT !! Is Riki Choshu circa 93 booking sumo now ? (I've been watching too much pro-wrestling) The issue with Mania is that it reached the point of being a self-conscious epic event as a whole. From a bunch of Mania Moments ™ by the mid-00's (which was already annoying as fuck) to ManiaMoment ™.
