  1. The thing I remember most about this match is Drew working like he had been poisoned and the only way to get the antidote was to beat it out of his opponents
  2. It's not just that. Sasha actually lands hip first on the apron and catches her feet in the ropes to double break her fall so by the time her hands hit the floor she's barely even falling. Superbly executed. Yeah that spot was masterfully done. Match was really great, definitely something I will be going back and watching again come year's end to see where it ranks
  3. Holy shit I loved this match. Hard hitting and intense, great selling from Goto and great facial expressions and such by both guys. The story told was tremendous, with Suzuki being as vicious a heel as possible, but his hubris regarding the Gotch piledriver being his downfall. Suzuki then returning on his own to fulfill the hair stip was a perfect close to this. MOTYC for sure.
  4. My thoughts exactly
  5. Another B-show match that really stood out to me. Saw it described on a blog as the best Main Event match in at least a year, and I can't disagree with that assessment. I think Ali is a guy who could really become something if they'd push him properly, and TJ remains quite adept at his cocky dickbag heel role. This also continues what has been a fantastic start to 2018 for TJP as far as putting up one good match after another
  6. Just saw a tweet that an announcement would come in the next day or two, but also said "Back up what you want as fast as you can" https://twitter.com/NjpwGaijinEric/status/960525692701167618
  7. Graves was on Edge and Christian's podcast a week ago and called Booker "one of his favorite people" so either that was a troll or this is a work. I think it's a work
  8. I would also like to catch up on my reviews before continuing
  9. Tajiri is part of my all-time Holy Quadrangle of midcarders, so this makes me happy
  10. surprised I hadn't seen a thread on this one, as I thought it was quite good and certainly superior to the Tozawa match from the prior week. You can always count on Metalik to do some cool shit and he certainly does here. Once again they fail to really capture the attention of the crowd but I thought the in-ring work was highly entertaining even if the crowd was not really into it. I also enjoyed TJ's whiny temper tantrum after the match. What does everyone else think?
  11. Been trying to catch up before the Rumble and that was the most meaningless, skippable episode of Smackdown I can remember in quite some time
  12. From what I've seen his coverage of specific personalities certainly can be colored by his opinion of their work. However in this case there appear to be more hard details, including a police report, sooooo...
  13. I actually preferred Tozawa's Main Event match from this same week for this reason because they had much more success engaging the crowd
  14. From what I have seen Andre getting slammed was, if not a regular occurence in Japan, definitely more frequent than it was stateside. So glad you liked this!
  15. Liked this one a lot. Jordan got to show off his strength early, and Cesaro did a fantastic job working the leg. A fine way for WWE to ring in the new year.
  16. My dad has been telling me about that episode all my life!
  17. My first match of the year for Pete is both an underrated gem and an exercise in ego on my part, as I am also commentating it. Toby Farley vs. Tristen Ramsey, NWA Smoky Mountain TV from January of 2016 (starts at the 39:00 mark)
  18. That's exactly why I unfollowed him. Its annoying scrolling through my Twitter and just see him either: a. arguing with someone over who's more popular or b. seeing him continue his LOL@WWE SUX; NU NIPPON IZ DA BEST act. I also had to unfollow him. His troll act on Twitter is beyond tiresome
  19. I'm traveling right now but can post my match by Monday
  20. Really really enjoyed this and already have it tabbed for a Rewatch because I think it could be a great match. The whole structure was so against type when you think about the Bucks and their usual finisher fests. Loved the story of the dueling back injuries and Sho and Yoh came out looking strong in defeat. Definitely recommended
  21. what title and who was champ? Maekawa I presume??
  22. I don't do star ratings but otherwise this is an accurate summary of my views on this one
  23. I've got WWE Network, NJPW World, Progress and Powerbomb
  24. I use a spreadsheet for mine that has been described as "highly detailed" by some, "awesome" by others and "insane" by others. Happy to share if you're interested
  25. 1) Find more "me time" to watch wrestling -- even if it's just a match a day or an hour or 2 a week. 2) Finish 2000 on PWO2K 3) Dad finally got the WWE Network and asked me, "so, what's worth watching over the last 4 years?" so I'll be going through Reality Era stuff cherry-picking things he should watch
