There haven't been that many recent ones, honestly. They've been more focused with the WCW Timeline, and the Cornette territories series. The only ones I'm recalling, since Bruno, are 1981 with Martel and 1992 with Bret.

WWE DVD Best of Clash of the Champions - matches selected

Was this a U.S. Tag Titles match? I'm almost positive that Doom were the World Tag Team Champions at this point. -
6:05 Superpodcast Episode #12 - Way Ahead of My Brain

Great show as always, gentlemen. Brian's story about writing to the WWF and not hearing back, and then lamenting that he should have just written to Linda got a big laugh out of me. The Scott Teal interview was really interesting. -
What is the greatest *worked* moment in televised wrestling history?
MikeCampbell replied to Parties's topic in Pro Wrestling
As great as that was, I think they topped it a week later, with the Horsemen beatdown of the Booty Man, and a couple of great promos from Flair and AA. -
If they let Kenny King come back, and that fiasco was after ROH was bought by Sinclair, then they'll let anyone come back.

I'm hoping to start watching it this weekend. But, judging from the trailer, it looks like Russo's WWE Timeline may surpass the Larry Zybyszko edition as far as how many whoppers it contains.

You're exactly right with that statement. But, there's a big difference between saying "Brock Lesnar did this, that, and the other thing, and then he gave Big Show the F-5. It was a great match." And saying "Brock did this to Big Show, and it worked for this reason, but, that and the other thing didn't work for this reason, so it was a shitty match.

1. When you read reviews, do you read the whole thing or just the final paragraph and the rating? It depends on the review. If it's just a recap of the match itself, then no, I don't read the whole thing. 2. If I lost the middle section of mine, would you miss them at all? N/A for me, I don't think I've ever read of of your reviews, Jerry. 3. What are you looking for in a review of a wrestling match? Analysis and discussion of the match. No offense to anyone here, I'm not trying to be a dick, but anyone just can rattle off the list of the spots of a match, and then throw on some snowflakes and call it a day. 4. Who's reviews do you like reading? Why? What do they do well? I'm in the same boat as GOTNW, in that most of the people I liked have moved on from this sort of thing. My old friend JD Dunn, and Dean Rasmussen both come to mind. All I really read nowadays is the stuff in the match discussion folder here. 5. When you are writing your own reviews, what are you looking to achieve? The same thing that I hope to find in reading reviews from other people. Analysis and discussion.

I believe it was lumberjacks with straps due to the way Hennig and Windham won the titles. Chris Benoit finally gets some respect from the WCW booking staff. And, Double-A gets some overdue revenge on Hennig's turn from 18-months earlier.

This is obviously Flair's moment, but Anderson's promo was pretty damn good too. "We don't wear white hats. We're not nice guys!"

I've been watching PWG for a couple of years now. I started after hearing that they had done a couple of Generico/Claudio matches, since this was right around the time that Cesaro/Zayn was all the rage. I've some stuff that I absolutely hated (Loss and I both commented in the match discussion thread about how shitty the 2013 DDT4 final match was). But, I also saw more than enough fun and good, that I didn't want to completely write them off. I think Savage was spot on with his comment about less being more with angles. The big angle last year was the re-emergence of the Mount Rushmore stable. But, when the seeds were planted at DDT4, with Strong attacking Candice and Joey, everyone assumed that it was just a vehicle to give Roddy someone to feud with over the title.

They finished up 1998 and are more than halfway done with 1999 for Nitro. One of the last things to go up was the 9/14 Nitro with Flair's return, which should have been one of the first. For as much as Tony's hyperbole gets mocked, his proclamation of Flair's return and subsequent promo probably is the greatest moment in the history of that TV show.

I always had access to Smackdown, no matter part of NY I lived in, even when the original pilot aired in 1999. The only issue I ever knew of was when station cut away from the Jericho/Edge cage match (literally less than a minute before the finish, since Edge was already perched on top and was just getting ready to do the spear).

I would agree that 1/4 has been *THE* big show for New Japan, and probably has been since 1993. All Japan, I would say would be the June "Super Power Series" Budokan show. As for the last few years, I would guess the finals of the Champion Carnival or Tag League. In the territories, I would say most likely Christmas night.

He wrestled Cheeseburger Saturday night. That alone should be enough indication that they're already out of good ideas.

Well, he's moved on from being Canada's Greatest Athlete. Now he's Heaven's Greatest Athlete!

Great promos and angles from the last 15 years

I thought Ryback's promo explaining why he turned heel and attacked Cena was very well done. James Storm's victory speech when he won the TNA Title. -

In addition to his HOF wrestling career, The Hangman is also a two sport star, as he's also active on the competitive eating circuit. http://eatfeats.com/query.php?_table=eaters&id=250 -
I think it was mostly intended as a bit of a gotcha to the fans. One of the storylines was that Hogan and UT got preferential treatment in the drawing and would get a number from 20-30, and, it was mentioned on TV at least once, that Flair also has a good chance of getting a high number.

I liked the babyface run of 1998-99, when I was fifteen and sixteen years old. Hell, I bought and regularly wore the "Mr. Ass" T-Shirt. But, after Billy Gunn turned heel I was already proclaiming DX to be "dead" with the ranks dwindled to Road Dogg and X-Pac. The late '99-00 heel run is a perfect example of something overstaying its welcome.

I just rewatched the Flair/Bischoff match from the 12/28/98 Nitro. As a sixteen year old Four Horsemen mark, I was going absolutely nuts for this.

Bill Watts and wrestlers in bar fights
MikeCampbell replied to pantherwagner's topic in Pro Wrestling
If a chickenshit heel whopped your ass in a bar fight, and then you saw him on TV the next week getting *HIS* ass kicked by a babyface, then you'll know exactly how tough that babyface must be. -

And remember that Orndorff basically whipped Vader's ass with one arm And he did while wearing flip flops!
