For those curious it doesn't sound like they altered the audio on the Rumble match at all, and I expect them to talk about the reaction to him during his sit down interview they're hyping up. If they're smart they do the Diesel black glove "you're with me or you're against me" deal and get back that cool edge he's lost. Be the first good thing they've done with his character in a long time.

I wonder if the last two years have created a mindset in WWE where guys are going to start being afraid if fans cheer them without being pushed.

Bryan, to me, seems far more confident in interviews in online publications and what not than he did after he actually won the title. Stuff like "owning smackdown"

Maybe they didn't have time, being distracted with packing up the set early and moving on from Hartford and all? :P

I really don't think adding Cena to the Reigns/Lesnar is going to help matters.

The crowd last night cared about exactly three people in the Rumble: Bryan, Ambrose, and Ziggler, and, to a less extent, Cesaro and Bray. I can actually understand Vince's idea about going back to Bryan feeling like a step backwards, but, unless they find some way to turn things around for Reigns, he's the next Batista.

I don't really think they will add Cena to the main, I think the Rusev Fast Lane match is probably inconclusive and they rematch at WM. But I can't see them failing to finish the Cena-Lesnar story either especially with the push for the "Final Battle" just a couple weeks ago. Plus, Cena didn't get pinned in the three way last night. But again, Lesnar's contract status will probably play a role. I just don't seeing them let him leave for MMA again without putting over Cena in some fashion.

Bringing up Batista is interesting in a bigger picture way. Do you think Vince regrets the Bryan push last year that resulted in him being gone within a couple months and basically wasting everything they put into him when the fans "demanded" it? The neck issues weren't something brand new, it was a risky move even then. Compare that to Batista who ended up exploding in Hollywood afterwards even more than anticipated (certainly a hotter property than the Rock at the moment) but because they didn't follow through with their original plan, you've probably alienated him from ever coming back and latching on to whatever success he has the next couple years? If they didn't listen to the fans last year, which blew up in their face, they wouldn't have put themselves in that situation. I bet it drives them nuts that they changed their plans now and they aren't going budge this time around.

They actually left everything in Hartford because they're running live from there in Thursday. Titan Towers is already set up for live broadcast, no need for production trucks or anything

I didn't expect them to sweeten or alter things anyway. It was much too out there and talked about already, they had to just embrace it and move on

At least one interesting thing I didn't notice til now......I don't think the announcers ever called it "bizarro land" re: the crowd reactions. They finally seem to have dropped that tired trope

Is Vince likely to change direction on Reigns if the negative reactions continue, or is it going to be chalked up to being just like Cena (ignoring that it took time for Cena to start getting booed) and plough full speed ahead? I guess ultimately it will come down to how much merch he sells and how much he moves the needle on house shows, but I wonder if they give him time to prove himself on that front or if they pull the plug early because of how bad it's looking.

I've been thinking, and I honestly believe the only halfway decent outcome that could possibly come from this is if at Mania we have:

Daniel Bryan vs. The Rock.

- Dwayne turns heel for the show, against the only guy the audience will conceivably root against him for. Bryan goes over clean.

Roman Reigns with Paul Heyman vs. Brock Lesnar for the WWE belt.

I know some here are down on Heyman being paired with anyone other than Brock, but that's really not giving him enough credit. Paul's runs with Hennig Jr and Cesaro didn't work because they obviously weren't designed to go anywhere in the long run. Paul isn't to blame for that, IMO.

Reigns is another deal altogether. We know Vince is 110% behind him and is intent on rocketing him to the moon immediately. The beauty of the whole thing is the crowd is naturally turning both Brock and Reigns anyway. Lesnar is also leaving and Paul needs a new meal ticket. Lucky for Paul, Roman needs a mouthpiece desperately especially if he is to survive the Summer. Provided they set Roman up with opponents who can lead him through longer matches (they can get at least a couple of fun PPV singles out of Rollins and Bryan. You could bring Jericho back too), there isn't any reason why this rushed push couldn't go smoothly.

Edit: Total brain dump there. Just can't see any other fun outcomes if I'm being honest. I still think I would rather just see Brock-Bryan. :)

If Brock is leaving after WM, I'm guessing you put Cena over Rusev

Hopefully! Its about time Rusev lost.

Well, I for one won't be cancelling my WWE Network subscription - that is because I did the smart thing from the beginning and invested my 999 YEN in NJPW World instead.

Me neither. Whats the point in cancelling? You still get all those awesome classic shows to watch!

With Bryan taking those subtle jabs at Reigns last night; "WWE didn't feed my family" and "I didn't have The Rock's help" I'm worried that they might try to turn him into a whiny heel to shut up his fans once and for all. I think it's obvious to anyone who has been watching for the past couple years that the fans won't buy it, but this time instead of openly rebelling against the product I'm concerned that fans will just get tired of the constant teases and just become apathetic to everything and tune out. Just like WCW.
