  1. An absolutely wild match. These 2 always go balls to the walls when they face each other - and this match was no different, they put on one helluva spotfest which was filled w/ some sick, dangerous looking spots. My favorite spot of the whole match was when Hiromu started slapping Lee, and then Lee busted out a sick looking Armbar. They probably went on a bit too long for my taste, I would've preferred if it had gone just a tad bit shorter, but it was still a very good match. ***1/2
  2. My most awaited New Japan match up in a quite some time. I loved all of their interactions in their multi-man tag matches, and this singles meeting between them sure was as spectacular as expected. Fantastic styles clash with Ospreay first trying to ground Shibata, only for Shibata to get out of everything he tries. Ospreay used his amazing flips to avoid Shibata's deadly strikes. He tried to go toe-to-toe with The Wrestler a few times w/ the strikes, only for him to get absolutely destroyed by him. This had everything I expected it to have - fantastic sequences, intensity, great counters, memorable moments + really good storytelling with Ospreay getting more & more frustrated as he tried everything he could to put Shibata down - the story of a cocky youngster getting humbled, but also earning the respect of the veteran he pissed off. Amazing match. ****1/2
  3. This was very well laid out - Claudio/Cesaro vs. a smaller high-flyer is, for like 99% of the time a winning formula, and it sure was that here. The match was mostly dominated by Double C, who grounded PAC, and every time PAC got on his feet, he threw him around - it was very enjoyable. PAC's comeback towards the end was great, he is one spectacular man inside that ring, everything he did looked so smooth & he executed the comeback perfectly. Really good match. ***1/2
  4. An intense match worked with a great sense of urgency. The only disappointing thing about this was SDR's awful selling - Kana worked over her leg throughout the match, and she just completely no sold it. Other than that, this was pretty great.. BUT I gotta say that it had potential to be even better had Del Rey bothered to sell better. ***3/4
  5. Kenny did some good work on top of Ibushi, great arm work & Ibushi busted out some cool comebacks with those shotgun blast kicks of his. That was basically the first half of the match, and in the 2nd half, they just went nuts - big spot after big spot after big spot. There was plenty of solid selling in there too, which was quite surprising in all honestly, but positively surprising. All in all this was very enjoyable, I'd recommend it to everybody who enjoyed Omega's WK11 battle vs. Okada, because in my opinion, this match was pretty similar in structure & just as good in quality. ***3/4
  6. This was only 8.5 minutes long, but it was an absolute hoot! I actually think that this was better than their much pimped 2009 SmackDown match. This was all action w/ no dull moments - they established quickly that Morrison was working it as a heel, going after Rey's knee, and Rey did his thing, awesome selling - he is so great. Definitely recommended, this was just awesome. ***1/2
  7. Wow, this was as fantastic as it looked on paper! It was all about Low Ki grounding Generico, and then keeping him down with those sick strikes of his. Generico, as usual, played the underdog role, and he was fantastic at it - his selling & hope spots were tremendous. ****1/2
  8. Excellent match. Mostly focused around StarBuck working on top, working over the injured arm of Jessica, and it was great. 'Buck was terrific, his heel work was tremendous & his work on top was indeed excellent. Love sold well & did a really fine job working from underneath in general. Great, great, great match. ****1/4
  9. Started off with some pretty good work on the mat, but once Tajiri started unleashing those deadly kicks of his & started targeting 'Buck's arm, things got really good. Tajiri was truly awesome working the heat on StarBuck, and StarBuck's comebacks were solid. A very good match for sure. ***1/2
  10. Fantastic match. Finlay didn't come to Japan to play games, he came in to beat the shit out of StarBuck, and that's exactly what he did. Finlay was awesome working the heat on 'Buck, and I loved StarBuck's comeback - those punches of his are so, so, so good. Finlay got the control back very quickly by starting to work over the champs leg, which I thought StarBuck sold pretty well, could've been better, but he did fine. Finlay pretty much controlled the rest of the match, with StarBuck busting out some hope spots - but every time he did that, Finlay got something to counter them. The post-match moment with Finlay offering to shake hands with StarBuck, only for him to headbutt the man back down was awesome. ****1/4
  11. Lashley does it again, my god. This started off with Eddie shine, and he was great, laying those awesome chops in. Lashley's work on top was excellent, and Eddie rules working from underneath. Loved his comeback, which was cut off by Lashley in awesome fashion. The whole Davey deal was a bit annoying, but this was still an absolutely awesome match. ***3/4
  12. This is better than anything & everything I saw from ROH in 2016. Lio Rush is such an impressive wrestler - with him getting PWG booking, I am sure that more people will start noticing him this year, and I truly am glad about that. He showcased his great athleticism and smooth wrestling w/ a touch of urgency here, and that was the perfect opponent against Bobby Fish who was working the role of veteran-teaching-rookie-some-respect, which he did wonderfully. Definitely one of Bobby's best performances. Great match. ****
  13. What an outstanding tag match. Started off with Ringkampf working over TJ Cooper, and I truly enjoyed that - Axel Dieter Jr. looked very impressive. Once we we're done with that, SPPT got the control by their heel tactics and they worked over Axel Dieter Jr. in great fashion, and then my god, it was time for WALTER to come in and wreck shit up! Then they basically went balls to the walls PWG style without going overboard & the match remained fantastic till the end. So far the best tag match I've seen this year. ****1/4
  14. This was a blast. Easily the best looking match on the card, and it delivered big time. Started off with Riddle & Cobb making Bucks their fools by throwing them around and striking the crap out of them + Riddle also busted out some real nice submissions. Then Bucks got the advantage by their tag tactics, which was something I really liked because they obviously are way more experienced as a team. It made perfect sense. The transition was done super well. Matt Riddle was a really good FIP, and Cobb was a tremendous hot tag; loved him just throwing Bucks around. From then on, the match kicked into the finishing gear, and it was as awesome as you'd expect. Amazing, amazing match. Absolutely loved it. ****1/2
  15. Really good, borderline great match. All 4 guys looked great, especially Hero who was great as usual, and then Bobby Fish who was really great here too. It went almost 30 minutes, but it never felt like a long match, and that was something I was afraid about when I read how long it went, but these 27 minutes were very enjoyable as Fish, O'Reilly, Hero & Dunn beat the crap out of each other w/ their great looking offense. ***3/4
  16. An absolutely great way to kick off Mystery Vortex IV. This was really good - they told a good story of Trent wanting to win, but not having the heart to put Candice away at times - and that ended up almost costing him the match. Really good work on top by Trent, really good work from underneath by Candice. Both were on point & produced a high energy, fun, really good match. ***1/2
  17. I liked Dar going after Gallagher's leg & then TJP continuing that attack on the leg when him and Gallagher were the last 2. Gallagher's selling was really good. Other than that though, this was a completely forgettable. **
  18. Reigns was my most awaited main roster opponent for Joe, and I thought that their first meeting truly delivered. Physical, Joe looked fantastic when he was working the heat on Reigns w/ his killer offense, and Reigns did some really great selling, and I loved every hope spots of his, and the big comeback towards the end was great, too. These 2 have a classic ****1/2+ PPV match in them. ****
  19. These 2 have a really good chemistry with each other. This was a really good David vs. Goliath battle - mostly just Nia dominating Bayley with her solid looking offense, with Bayley getting some really good, well timed hope spots in. I thought that Bayley's selling & bumping were really great here, she made Nia look like a true killer. Awesome match. ***1/2
  20. Suzuki's leg work was so fantastic - his performance was all around one of the best that I've seen. Perfect character work & his work on top was just superb. Okada's selling was for the most part really great, as in when he was taking that beating he sold super well, but every time it was time for him to get some comeback moves in, he kinda dropped the leg selling & that it ultimately what prevents this classic from being a stone cold 5-star classic. ****3/4
  21. This was really good. Great showing by Juice, who impressed vs. Cody at WK, and continued to impress here vs. Goto. His early shine was super good; highlight of the match. Goto's heat segment was really good too, and after that, most of the rest of the bout went to Juice, which was nice, as because of that, he managed to come off as a winner with his strong performance even though he lost the match. ***1/2
  22. First 2 legitimately great matches vs. Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards... and now a borderline great one vs. ol' Brother Nero?! I am absolutely shocked by how good Bobby Lashley has got, for real. Just like in those matches vs. The Wolves, his performance was awesome, he was awesome during his control segments, and Jeff was solid, taking some good, brutal bumps. Bobby freakin' Lashley! ***3/4
  23. This was actually quite a well worked David vs. Goliath trios match. Cage, Steen & Elgin were just throwing the smaller dudes around, while they came back to the match w/ their wacky, flippy hope spots & comebacks. ***1/2
  24. Hero's first major match back in the indies after his WWE run, and it sure was quite a banger. I thought that the beginning with Hero's shine - which was him beating the crap out of Johnny G all over the place - was fantastic. Once than transitioned into Gargano working on top, it was still great, Hero's selling was really good, and Gargano looked pretty good w/ his work on top. Then it eventually went to the typical back & forth finishing stretch w/ the false finishes and all (wasn't overkill tho), which is when the match quality went down a bit for me, but it was still good. Very enjoyable match overall. ***3/4
  25. This was a very fun spotfest. The sequence between Ricochet & Samuray was pretty damn awesome - like a better version of the Superman landing sequence Ricochet has been doing w/ Ospreay recently. ***1/2
