  1. When he's fired up and coherent, he does a good promo. (Johnny Sorrow on David von Erich) I admit, I laughed out loud at this observation.
  2. Couldn't disagree more, I always found him to be good in the ring, but rarely good outside of the ring, and mostly saddled with poor gimicks. He would have fared much better with a good manager.
  3. Loved the Anvil's promos as a kid. Another part of my childhood gone. Sad news.
  4. I have a big comics collection in storage (mostly 80s and 90s Marvel titles with some DC and indie titles) but these days I buy and read the tremendous Astro City, and the new adaptation of Neil Gaiman's American Gods. If you asked me to rate some of my all-time favourite stuff it'd be Astro City and these: Lone Wolf and Cub Sandman Watchmen and a few shorter runs of Amazing Spider-Man, Swamp Thing, and so on.
  5. I can speak up for (#24) Mull, it is a great place to visit, and the cheese is fine too. Gruyere is a great pick for Jumbo (#11). I watch Jumbo matches often - he'd still be in my top five in GWE - and I regularly, happily, eat gruyere cheese, it's a staple for me. This thread is tremendous, I'm going to seek out a few of the more obscure cheeses I'd not heard of before.
  6. Best of luck with this.
  7. Outstanding. I have Swiss relatives, I've been to Switzerland, and I've had #96. It's great. I love cheese and I love wrestling, this thread is for me.
  8. Grew up going to Leafs games in late 70s early 80s, but am a lifelong Vancouver Canucks fan. I've played hockey since I was five. Best hockey moment: 2010 Olympic gold medal men's hockey game. I was about 100 feet from where the golden goal was scored.
  9. Lawyer. Single, no children. I have one young nephew whom I regularly spoil. Some top TV shows for me: The Wire Deadwood Fawlty Towers Yes, Minister House of Cards (BBC) Babylon 5 Firefly

  11. I don't subscribe to the newsletter. But I really would like to read that piece. Hmm. Any highlights to share?
  12. It even features a hit song by Winnipeg's own Crash Test Dummies! I can remember going out to buy their first CD in 1991 at A&B Sound, a Vancouver institution that's sadly been shuttered for a while. I'm getting old ...
  13. The finishing stretch and the crowd reaction to Bruno's final comeback in this match is completely awesome.
  14. Bruno was so, so great. His connection with the audience is something you just don't see any more.
  15. The Bruno Sammartino episode Jericho did a few months ago is a great listen.
  16. Allow me to disagree it is a perfectly acceptable match regardless of how many snowflakes you toss its way.
  17. He always finds a way. I can't really bear to listen to any of his podcasts, despite the occasional topic that really should interest me.
  18. I was just watching a fun match of his from 1979 vs. Larry Z at MSG - those purple Star Wars tights were fantastic - terrible news.
  19. If there was an ignore filter, shodate would earn it. I can't read the posts despite whatever validity they may have because they make my eyes hurt.
  20. Yeah, and the reference to anarcho-syndicalism just begs for a Monty Python quote or two ...
  21. I feel the same with Sarge from the 70s.
  22. I'd have to think about this further to build my own full card, but looking at the one above, one glaring absence is - especially in Toronto - is Edge and Christian. Get them involved somehow, either in the tag match replacing LOD or in another multi-man match.
