smkelly
I guess getting blamed for the Sin Cara match put Chavo over the edge, which is understandable since their reasoning seemed to be little more than "hey, he's a Mexican guy, he should be able to work lucha style" without seeming to realize/remember he's spent his entire career in US feds. I wonder what kind of terms came with his release, since as stated he knows where a lot of bodies are buried. I also wonder if the humiliation stuff with Vickie will get worse now. He could potentially sink Linda's next campaign Could he? When would the statute of limitations on any potential evidence tampering/obstruction of justice/whatever chargesw be up for the Eddy cleanup and whatever might've happened on the weekend of the Benoit murder/suicide? For latter he may not have done anything criminal, though. I bet he may very well know the details behind Dave Taylor and his wife showing up at the crime scene seconds after the bodies were found. I doubt those are the only skeletons in the closet, though.
Johnny Sorrow
Jesus, at this rate people are gonna be disappointed if Chavo doesn't end up floating face down in the Hudson river with a bullet in the back of his head.
kjh
Yeah, Chavo's not speaking. He may be frustrated with WWE now, but he isn't going to burn his bridges like that. If he keeps quiet, then he'll probably be brought back as a road agent after he washes out of TNA. To be fair to WWE, one would have thought Chavo would have worked better with Sin Cara than most on the roster, given that he worked with the luchadors in WCW fairly often. MJH
He might be nondescript as fuck, but DiBiase did a really good job with Cara on Smackdown last week. The Danielson match was superior overall, but Ted took the flashy spots better than anyone as of yet.
JerryvonKramer
Been watching Starrcade 95 tonight and I was *shocked* when Johnny B. Badd vs. Saito finished with an over-the-top-rope DQ finish! Is this the last time this finished was used in WCW? And did they ever announce that the top rope rule had been rescinded? Top-rope rule was formally eliminated in February 1998; Tony Schiavone mentioned it on commentary during a Nitro telecast. EDIT: It was mentioned on the 2/26/98 edition of Thunder, according to http://www.ddtdigest.com/updates/1998024t.htm Wow, that's a lot later than I thought. What else is there about Eddy that wasn't in the official statement?
Loss
Dave has said in a read-between-the-lines type way that Benoit, Malenko and Chavo got rid of Eddy's steroids before notifying anyone that they found him. To a point where he said it was a surprise to him that steroids were found in the Benoit home because Benoit usually followed wrestling protocol. rovert
Thought that this was too funny not to share. JBL remembers the Eddie feud on Facebook: Seven years ago today I won the WWE Championship from my dear friend Eddie Guerrero in a Bull Rope Match in Norfolk, Virginia. Bull rope matches can be terrible because you are so limited-I had hundreds over my career and some were pretty bad! This one went well. The finish went perfect with Eddie squashing me in the corner and unknowingly causing me to win. Eddie had lost a tremendous amount of blood at the first match we had in the Staples Center a month before. So, we had to be careful with Eddie because he was still having problems from this. However, Eddie-as he always did-rose to the occasion and carried me through another title match. I could never have had the run I had without the “feud†with Eddie. We had near riots in the southwest when we wrestled, including the best when I needed a police escort out of El Paso. The idea for Eddie’s mom to have a heart attack on mother’s day was all Eddie’s. No one saw it coming. Eddie had been busted open that day by an errant fist-as had I, I think mine was called a “receiptâ€, ha. All this added to the drama. The lead up to this should have been filmed. Eddie, Chavo Sr and I were sitting in a dressing room thinking up this idea when Chavo, jokingly, said that Mrs Guerrero should take a big boot from me. Eddie got mad that Chavo would even joke about it, so Chavo took it one further. Chavo then said that Mrs Guerrero should pack a blade and juice! Eddie and Chavo almost got into a fight over this, it was hilarious. Needless to say when working with Guerreros it went perfect. Eddie’s mom went down and I was holding her-though making it look like I was threatening her-and it looked so real the crowd went completely silent-I mean completely silent, it was eerie. After the match Eddie had given his mother flowers-this was their hometown and the Guerrero name is like the Von Erichs in Dallas or Funks in Amarillo. When I hit the ring and Vicki and her daughters started crying and Mrs Guerrero went down and the EMTs came it started to get very real. Eddie is on the canvas yelling orders for me to leave before the riot happens. However, having been in a couple of riots before I knew the one thing I could not do was turn my back on the audience, that’s when bad things happen. So I backed out of the arena as fast as I could without seeming like I was hurrying. Security was yelling at me to leave, they knew how serious this had become. We had my car packed and the state police ready to escort me out of town, which they did. If I would have stayed I would have probably been killed. Eddie actually pulled a few friends aside and smartened them up before hand so they wouldn’t get carried away. The police took me all the way out of town. We got out of there so quick no one knew we were gone. I then pulled over and thanked them and they went back to El Paso and I had to drive to Odessa to fly out. I had been busted open underneath the eye and was bleeding badly by this point-I am also in only my trunks and boots. All my clothes are in the trunk-we got out of there in such a hurry that our only concern was a quick exit not my clothes. I see a border check point guard ahead on I-20. I am horrified. The cop pulls me over and sees this guy in trunks, no shirt and blood on his face!! I wish I had this on camera. I tried to explain and he finally let me go with the instruction to at least put on a shirt-hey, I was in decent shape then-it wasn’t so bad! Very few thought we could handle a main event. We ended up setting an attendance record in Staples Center in a couple of weeks and sold out arenas everywhere off this feud. Eddie hated being a baby face, he was always giving me ideas of what to say. I could never have done this character with someone other than Eddie. I cleared everything I was going to say with Eddie first and most of the time Eddie would come up with something much better. We had a fan jump in the ring in one match and little Hebner took the guy out-fast. However, I was wrestling Eddie for real because Eddie wanted a piece of the guy! I was telling Eddie let me have him since I am the heel-thankfully Little Hebner had punted this guy into next week and security had taken him out. Probably the most fun time in my career, though I had a lot of fun times and worked with great people. I am sitting on an island right now retired about to go play golf because of Eddie-I only wish he were her to enjoy it with me. He always called me “essie†but I can’t even spell it so I’ll just say thanks Eddie!! I love you! http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=1941...amp;topic=18660

EricR
it was a pretty good cover up. The announcers just acted like it was supposed to happen. Bourne sold it well enough to not make it look terrible. Awkward but not terrible I did look a little botched, as Cara seemed like he wasn't expecting to hit the mat as early as he did. But Bourne sold it awesomely enough that I didn't consider it a botch at all. He treated it like he just got whipped into the mat face and chest first, lifting his face up to feel his nose for blood before plopping it back down lifelessly on the mat. The people who were comparing Matt Cross to Bourne in the Tough Enough thread months ago don't know shit about dick.
MJH
Since the Chavo botch he's been using it as a faceplant rather than a fall into the armbar. It wasn't hit perfectly, but, yeah, they're treating it as a faceplant.
rovert
The latest PWInsider still thinking it is the late 1990s story. Somehow someone wrongly reported that Meltzer wrote that Brock was returning to WWE. Which he didnt all he said that an endorsement deal was being discussed. The MMA media including Ariel ran with the story without checking with Dave or the Observer. Anyway that is the background, PWInsider reported the story but blanked out the "source": UPDATE ON THE PAUL HEYMAN AND BROCK LESNAR RETURNING TO WWE STORY By Dave Scherer on 2011-06-30 14:47:25 We have received a lot of email about a story making the rounds concerning a rumored WWE return for Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar. I have not seen the original story, only recapped versions that were emailed to me, so I can't comment on what the original author wrote. Mike Johnson and I discussed the situation, with what is true and what isn't, on We Don't Need No Stinkin' Name Show today, which available exclusively to our Elite subscribers. A few minutes ago, Luke Williamson sent the following tweet from MMA reporter Ariel Helwani. It should be noted that he mentioned the original author of the story but since I have not seen that reporter's version I am deleting his name from what Helwani wrote. Here is his tweet. "******* report on Heyman/Brock going 2 WWE, according 2 sources, is somewhat inaccurate. What is being discussed is a consumer product deal." We have heard the same thing as Helwani. In essence, there is a project that both Heyman/Lesnar and WWE would be a party to. For the rest of the story, you can listen to the show we did today or check out tomorrow's edition of The Wrap Up. Bryan had fun at it in his description of the Bryan and Vinny show: The ***** & ***** Show returns today with a packed program! Tons of stuff to talk about including a hit-and-miss Impact Thursday night with some awesome wrestling, like really, really good, and, well, a bunch of non-wrestling stuff that wasn't that good at all. Granny also returns to not only do her usual Q&A, but also help us give away URBAN WRESTLING FEDERATION SWAG. Yes, you can win it, in a contest. Fun times to be had, so check it out~! kjh
To be fair, Meltzer's write up in the Observer was a bit vague, though he did make it clear that he wasn't returning to WWE to be a wrestler or TV character. The term "business relationship" was used to describe what Lesnar's negotiations with WWE were about, but he didn't make clear that it was for an endorsement deal. I enjoy Bryan poking fun at Scherer, but really Dave and Bryan can be almost as bad. Complaining about certain MMA media reports without telling their listeners who they're talking about.
