FLIK Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 You can tell Moolah is way older than the guys. Just looked up their ages, never would have guessed Moolah is old enough to be Harley's mom.
kjh Posted January 15, 2013 Report Posted January 15, 2013 Hulk Hogan files $50 million malpractice lawsuit against Tampa's Laser Spine Institute The Huckster gets conned by local quacks, tries to get $50 million in damages by claiming they cost him a match against John Cena. Incredible chutzpah!
sek69 Posted January 15, 2013 Report Posted January 15, 2013 So with Foley being announced as the first official HOF entrant for 2013, and King Kong Bundy more or less announcing on his Twitter page he was asked, I assume that Hunter's attempts to woo Bruno into accepting can be finally deemed over and done with.

Probably, but no necessarily. Lots of time for further announcements and additions, I would think. I didn't/don't believe Hunter will be successful anyway, even if he's still trying to get him into this year's class.
khawk20 Posted January 15, 2013 Report Posted January 15, 2013 Help. I've been trying to rip some AWA stuff off of youtube and I've read keepvid is the way to go. Trouble is it seems to want to install a toolbar when you try to download it and the last thing I need is another toolbar. Any way around that? It doesn't look like one of those install screens that you can uncheck and still get the program but not the toolbar, it looks to be built into the process. ...also wondering how this program is for converting stuff to mpeg1 or mpeg2 fro mit's original video file. I ask about those ones specifically because I'm using an authoring program (an older one) that wants the video in one of those two formats. Any help on the subject feel free to answer here or PM me if you don't want to clutter things up here. thanks.

MikeCampbell Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 Does anyone know offhand if there's any footage from Doug Furnas' debut in Continental, where he rips the door off the cage. Cornette loves bringing that up, and how he stole that for Kane's debut.

If you don't mind a standalone program, I like Direct YouTube Downloader (http://www.majorshare.com/direct-youtube-downloader/) which lets you pick a format and have it automatically download and convert. You need to cut and paste the YouTube page address though.

jdw Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 I remember seeing it on the syndication show show that Joe P briefly had. John

John If you're talking about Pro Wrestling This Week, an almost complete set of shows from 1987 made it's way onto Classics a few months ago. I'll see if I can find the discs and check the early 87 episodes to see if I find that angle.

Nope, no toolbar or anything like that is required for keepvid. I've used the website for years and never had any issues. If you've never used the website before it will give you a msg asking you to allow a java update or something along those lines but it's harmless and doesn't change/install anything to your browser or system. After that, you just paste the link into the box at the top of the page, click download and it gives you the links to download the files which you can either direct save or paste into a download manager. ...also wondering how this program is for converting stuff to mpeg1 or mpeg2 fro mit's original video file. I ask about those ones specifically because I'm using an authoring program (an older one) that wants the video in one of those two formats. I had good luck with a program called "FLV converter".
Death From Above Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Only problem I have with FLV is that when I just want a completely theoretical mp3 it downloads the completely theoretical complete file to my computer before theoretically converting it. Which theoretically wastes a lot of bandwidth. But it theoretically works when other outlets theoretically fail me in my search for Educational Material protected by international law.
khawk20 Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 I'm thinking at this point my authoring software is just too outdated. I've been looking at upgrading to TMPGEnc DVD Author version 5, which seems to be able to convert .flv files and many others to a dvd-ready file right in the program itself. I just loathe trying something new because the software I use know I know top to bottom and it doesn't take a lot of thought to get it to do what I want. I'll fool around with keepvid some more tonight now that my toolbar phobia seems to have been dispelled. If anyone has suggestions for other authoring software that is simple yet effective, feel free to suggest it (via PM if the mods would rather this not be on the main board). Thanks.
FLIK Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 which seems to be able to convert .flv files and many others to a dvd-ready file right in the program itself. ConvertXtoDVD is a really great one and what I always used. It would ocassionally convert the flv files at a weird frame rate but there were ways around that and I think newer versions of the program might not have this issue (The one I used was several years old as I rarely even watch DVDs on any device besides my computer anymore)
tomk Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Amazing Zuma passes away, shocked that he's only 85. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2013/01/03/20469461.html Amazing Zuma talk on classics: http://wrestlingclassics.com/.ubb/ultimate...t=002993#000000
BruiserBrody Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 Any idea how Verne Gagne managed to get action figures and VHS tapes made while JCP was largely idle on those fronts during the same period? AWA even had books released in 85.

Ricky Jackson Posted January 20, 2013 Report Posted January 20, 2013 I just want to say I think this board has hit a pretty good stride in the last month or so, especially with the wrestler analysis in the Microscope and the podcasts. Keep it up guys.

It's just one of those angles that's always piqued my interest, mostly thanks to how much Corny loves talking about it.

Log Posted January 20, 2013 Report Posted January 20, 2013 What?!?! You crazy. Even when shit goes down like you versus Victator, it's still more interesting than any other board. It sounds lame, but I think I seriously learn something new every time I log on here. I am a married man with a kid and a job I hate. I need this place. (To clarify: I hate just my job, not my kid. She's great.)
